I got a little bored today and since I'd decided to take a little break from editing I decided to just whip a little short story up for fun. It's just a little fight sequence and am curious what people think. =^_^=
Tundara vs. Bloodburn Bug
Pain swept through Tundaras veins like her blood was on fire. Doubling over in agony she dropped to her knees arms wrapped over her abdomen. Long chitin fingers curled into her hair as Tundara ground her teeth together trying to fight back the surging pain. A small gasp parted her lips when those fingers yanked back Tundaras head exposing her bare throat. Revulsion would have struck Tundara as a long black tongue licked her face if not for the agony burning through her.
Such a sweet young thing you are. To young to be playing at heroics, said a voice that was like the skittering of hundred cockroaches across a stone floor. To young to compare to the perfection I, Bloodburn Bug, represent.
Tears filling her eyes Tundara spat on Bloodburn Bugs armored face. She screamed as her was yanked further back. It felt like her head was about to pop off from her shoulders. A dark rage filled the small black eyes of Bloodburn Bug, all four of them.
Tundara had found the self named Bloodburn Bug fleeing the scene of a jewel heist. With a satchel held in two long powerful hands, the monstrous figure had used the other two hands he sported to pull himself up onto a roof as a police officer fired a couple desperate shots. Black and red chitin armor covered most of Bloodburn Bugs body that defeated the bullets with considerable ease. Thinking his escape was almost certain Bloodburn Bug hissed a taunt at the ineffective police before turning to scampering away across the roofs. But Tundara had been there waiting for him.
With a single decisive blow she had forced Bloodburn Bug through a large industrial air conditioner. Sacks of stolen jewels had flown through the air to clattering down onto the street spilling their contents in a splash of gold and light. Tundara thought that would be the end of things. There were few beings that could have withstood such a hit. She was about to float down to the street to see what the police wanted her to do with the disgusting creature when four arms coiled themselves around her. There was a piercing pain as Bloodburn Bugs claws dug into Tundaras belly injecting a stream of potent poison.
Tundara was utterly helpless fighting back the poison as Bloodburn Bug towered over her. He considered her twisting his head to either side to look at her with all his eyes. A powerful grabbed Tundaras throat to lift the young woman gasping and coughing into the air. Her platinum blonde hair was caught by a sudden shift in the breeze. There was an explosion of ice through Tundaras skin, a freezing wave that drove the fire before it as a fox before the hounds. Eyes flashing Tundara grabbed the arm holding her aloft while kicking out with both feet into Bloodburn Bugs plated chest.
There was a terrible popping rip followed by a screech of agony that cut through the night like a knife of lightning. Tundara released the suddenly limp arm twisting over in the air bringing her leg around in a swift arc into the exposed belly of Bloodburn Bug. Chitin cracked against the smooth blue leather and mink fur before the monstrous figure was forcibly launched across the street into the side of the jewelers he had stolen from.
How is that for your perfection, Tundara growled hovering in the air.
Baring teeth that could have been torn from the mouth of a shark Bloodburn Bug used his claws to stick to the buildings side, his one arm dangling useless. Youre going to pay for this indignity, oh yes you will. I will strip the flesh from the bone before cracking them to suck out the marrow. And youll still be alive. Painful times lay ahead for you young one!
Jibber jabber all you want, but lets see if you can back these threats up.
Flying across the gulf between them Tundara drew back a fist. At the last moment Bloodburn Bug twisted himself out of the way so he was upside down as Tundaras fist smashed through the already weakened wall. Toes digging into the brick he then launched his self point blank into the surprised heroine.
Together they crashed down onto a police cruiser. Rolling of the cruiser they stood punching and kicking. Blow after blow was exchanged as both fought with the ferocity of caged bears. The cruiser was knocked over as Tundara was sent skidding on her heels, short skirt twisting this way and that as she countered the punch with one of her own. In the streets the police backed away pistols held at the ready unwilling to come between the combatants. After a minute Tundara jumped back away from Bloodburn Bug. She breathed heavily from the exertion of the fight a slight smile touching her lips.
It had been a while since she last had faced someone who could give her a good fight. It seemed that the city sported over the last couple months had only been petty purse snatchers or car jackers. To finally have a decent fight again was exhilarating.
Bloodburn Bugs wounded arm seemed to have gotten some of its former mobility back as he tested it the joint emitting a loud pop. You cant beat me. Any hurt you cause is soon healed, said the skittering army he had for a voice.
Dont be so quick to think youll win, Tundara chided brushing some hair from her eyes. Youve barely seen what I am capable of doing.
Like wise, like wise, answered the villain.
Their fight was rejoined with increased vigor on both sides. Tundara ducked and weaved her gloved fists growing a coat of frosty rime while Bloodburn Bug shrugged off her blows swinging with his poisoned claws. The street was quickly transformed from its quiet nighttime form into a scene from a war movie. Police cordoned the area off in an effort to protect the innocent while a call was sent to more experienced heroes.
Both combatants grew tired, their actions becoming sluggish as the fight progressed beneath the full moon. Tundara used all her mastery over frost and ice but it seemed to do little against the armored Bloodburn Bug. In turn his poisons were nullified before they could do more than cause an itch by the ice streaming through Tundara. Growing desperate Bloodburn Bug began to grow rash. He took greater risks trying to find a way to delay the heroine long enough that he could affect an escape. But not such opening presented itself. Slowly it dawned on him that he was tiring faster than her.
Another day well have to continue this, he said between raged breaths as he backed his way towards a cover that lead into the cities sewers.
Kicking the cover up Bloodburn caught it in two hands and in a spin sent the cover hurtling at Tundara. Bracing herself she caught the spinning metal. Staggering back under the force of the metal disk Tundara watched in impotent fury as Bloodburn Bug vanished into the sewer.
Yeah, well finish this later, she sighed dropping the sewer cover.
