Quote:No, there isn't.No, there is a basic human morality that applies to everyone.
Quote:Not at all - there's universal good, and universal evil - if you take a gun and go outside and shoot the first person you see, then there's no way that can be defended as subjective in any way at all.
But i'm not going to argue these points with you because you"believe" in both these concepts. You couldn't possibly engage in any meaningful debate. (My definition of meaningful being we come to a conclusion that cannot be refuted.)
I'll stick to numbers. -
"Acid bomb" sounds more villianous than it does heroic.

Quote:That article can't be the worst when dealing with PvP. Have you read the PvPEC threads on powers that are banned because they are "broken?" And the reasoning for not banning certain ATs primaries and secondaries?
You can't not have a stupid discussion about PvP. The entire system is stupidly broken. -
Quote:I don't see a huge disparity in the amount of common IOs blue to red either. That's a pretty slick attempt at setting up a straw man. When did I ever say it was about pricing. Everything I have mentioned about market flaw (aside from a single example of price fixing, which I pointed out was an example and not the root of the problem) has been in reference to supply, not price. Thats twice already today you've tried to make it seem like I'm saying something other than what I actually posted.
I'll get you a screen-shot once I get home. -
There's no such thing as the norm for human morality. You're boarding ethnocentrism when you assume that there is.
Evil and Good are rather subjective concepts so the argument is more a practice of ideological fornication.
Anyway..not that the argument isn't interest (it really isn't.)
I liked the old Baracuda SF because it was challenging. They should have just increased the merit reward rather than lowering the difficulty. -
Quote:Sorry, not a lot of TFs and raids that I've seen forming up between 11 Pm and 3 Am. Thats generally the only timeframe when I could commit to being at the keyboard that long. Juggling wife work and 5 kids will often keep you from making time commitments like that. Which means no TF farming for merits.
But hey, keep up with the personal attacks. It's clearly helping your case.
Whether you're blueside or red it will take you time to IO out your build. Any MMO will be a significantly larger time sink than lets say a FPS.
I've took a glance at common IOs on blueside ad red, there isn't really a significant difference in pricing.
Also, are you part of the TF, and badge channels on your server? 11pm EST (if you are EST) is still prime time for pacific players. -
Quote:Morning thread,You're confusing casual with incompetent. I've known plenty of casuals who go and buy a full set (or as much of it as they can find) even if it gives no bonuses really worth having and gives things they don't particularly need (rech in a toggle or similar) just because it is a set and it is neat. Many people like to have something shiny and new for their character every once in a while.
Who are you to assume that I am not a casual gamer? I spend MAYBE 30minute to an hour fooling around with the market. I spend 2 to 3 hours playing the game and some days I can't even manage that. I RP very casually. I PvP even more casually. And I try to run atleast 3 to 4 speed SFs a day if not every other day for merits. (PvP is broke and PvPECs ideas of balancing just make me sick to my stomach.)
Any casual gamer can IO out their build redside. It just takes a willingness to work the market and run LGTFs, ITFs, Hami raids for merits. You're argument isn't for the casual gamer, it's for the lazy gamer.
You're lazy. There's nothing wrong with that, you have every right to be lazy, it's a game. However, you don't speak for the casual gamer. With a little bit of effort the casual gamer can afford to IO out their build. -
Quote:Sure, it's in a bad state. It isn't broken though. I can't really claim superiority, but I have evidently adapted to redside market. d;DVent? Nah. I've been playing pretty much exclusively blue for a few weeks now and I do have one major complaint. It takes so much longer to sort through what is actually available to purchase for the toons I am leveling. I am quite pleased with the state of play that I am currently experiencing.
It is just providing quite a lot of amusement watching you act superior and e-thug it up about how tough you are surviving the the rough rough world of playing villains, while constantly trying to dodge admitting that the market redside is in a bad state. -
Quote:Because I can't fix it. I can only work around it. There is a difference.
Totally aside from that, I pay people a monthly fee to fix things like this.
Hell, the whole concept of the GR expansion pretty much admits the devs have no way to fix redside population. Once that is established, the only way to have a healthy market is to merge it with blue.
But accepting that fact is tough once you've taken the internet tough guy stance. Have fun sticking redside where you can be the big fish in a small pool.
Sweetheart..i'm also a big fish in a big pool. If I can market successfully on redside... how well do you think I do on blueside? come on now.
I'm no internet tough guy. Trust me I've checked. I'm just a normal player that has taken the time to learn the market. Nothing you can't do either.
The market isn't broken. Does redside need more SFs and more content as well as better merit rewards? Most definitely. Will we get these things? Probably not. But it isn't because it's broken or the Devs hate Villainside. They just don't have enough of an incentive to care.
Let me reiterate; "The market isn't broken." -
No,no. Don't teach him anything. He just wants to complain. Let him vent.
-
Eh, it was really early in the morning when I typed that. I'm allowed to have a brain-fart or two.
The point is, he knows he's wrong. And because he can't adapt to red-side market (or too lazy to.) He's leaving. WHich is fine. But to come on here and ***** about the villain market because he's too lazy to have the "patience" to low ball for the items he wants at the prices he wants, is just absurd.
Humility, if you have the capacity to fix your problem then fix it. Otherwise, why *****?
That was a nice deflection though. Ya, my spelling...you got me.. d;D -
I have a feeling they are making epics available 1-20 for two reasons:
1: It has been said that praetoria will have beginning missions between 1-20, including end game content. (They most likely want to open epics to new players so that they can experience them.)
2: Devs have said it was a mistake to offer epics at lvl 50. (in my opinion the EPIC ATs were never truly..EPIC as much as they were new ATs unlockable by reaching lvl 50.) -
Sorry for the knock hun, but it was warranted.
I can't with a good conscience call the individual a moron because I personally don't know what goes into making these effects possible.
Ultra Mode (to me) DOES look more like a spit-shine than it does a graphical engine overhaul. So I sorta empathize with the individual.
It's not ultra-mode that i'm looking forward to, it's the content and what the developers consider 'content' that interests me the most. -
Quote:For your Secondary (Energy Assault) Take: Power Bolt, Power Push, Power Burst, Total Focus and Bone Smasher if you can fit it in.Sorry I haven't replied before now. I got kinda busy.
I am level 20 and my next power choices(at 22) are between Whirling Hands and the AoE hold(I think that's right).
I like Bone Smasher, but wasn't sure if Whirling Hands was a good accompanying melee move for it.
For your patron take MU: for Ball lightning(Your AoE damage) your Mu pet and shield. -

Quote:I'd love some of bluesides awesome epic pools and merit numbers. I don't agree that blueside has more of an opportunity for casual players however. A casual player can easily make 500mil in less than 2 days just from SFs, lgtfs, ITfs, redside. Supply is much less redside market for high-end recipes and salvage. The demand is also fairly high for these items so its much easier to turn a large profit simply by selling recipes you purchase through merits.I've tried redside for awhile now (50 Corr, 50 Brute (deleted), 33 Brute, 26 Corr) and I find that I still prefer blueside. I enjoy the higher population, brighter scenery, superior epic pools, larger market and greater conceptual freedom. Heroside you at least have some leeway to pretend you're a freelance hero, but redside is more heavy-handed on pushing the project DESTINY thing on you.
I prefer the focused, specialist nature of the blueside ATs. Of their redside counterparts, only Brutes and Corruptors appeal to me. Stalkers do more damage than Scrappers on paper, but fewer AoE attacks means that in an actual team situation their real damage output falls far behind. Masterminds are theoretically the most powerful AT, but being dependent on pets is troublesome on things like speed ITFs and does not mix well with my fast, fluid and highly mobile playstyle.
I enjoy tinkering with IOs and playing the market, and most of my characters are blueside where I can draw on the resources of my vast marketeering base. The blueside market has a much larger transaction volume and provides more opportunities for a casual player. The redside market is less active and before AE, it also had the problem that salvage prices were abnormally low, making it hard for a new player to earn money, though this has since been fixed.
One area where redside clearly outdoes blue is in storytelling. A lot of contacts are well-written and have personality, starting in the early game with Bocor and Radio. Arcs like High Roller's Last Gamble, The Aeon Conspiracy, Khur'rekt Revenge and Oh, Wretched Man! are Paragon Studio's story team at their finest, when compared to a lot of relatively bland blueside content. On the other hand, I play task forces 90% of the time, and the lack of a way to level up from 15-50 on taskforces redside is a major turnoff.
I still enjoy playing redside, I don't meet many incompetents who "need a tank" or "need an emp", since I don't waste time playing with stupid people; birds of a feather flock together.
THe keyword for redside marketeering is "patients." If you must have instant-gratification, blueside is probably more for you. d;D -
Quote:Go back to your cuddly collectivist circle jerk, blue-boy. If the Red market is crap it's because you're a crap marketeer. Redside market has a glut of opportunity for those willing to exploit those opportunities.Oh boy. So much wrong in so little space. But if you want to put social metaphors on the game, its a test of character and you failed.
The Rogue Isles are the deep end of the genepool. Not my fault some people can't swim.

Quote:Hmm, I seem to remember this one thread that started not too long ago.
Let's make this a topic: What's the stupidest thing you've heard or said related to City of Heroes? I'm not talking opinions. Things like this that they just don't understand.
You go.

Quote:Not at all, simply a curt, frank response. You say you are just as capable of manipulating the market as the marketeers but don't want to; and yet you blame marketeers for your woes.
EDIT: The phrasing you chose for your statement leads me to believe you're one of those crash helmet wearing marketeers who thinks hardcore price gouging is funny. More amusing yet (or perhaps pathetic) is that you seem to think it makes you some kinda e-thug tough guy... enjoy your dwindling population.
If you are being disingenuous and really don't know how to play the market, I'd be more than willing to direct you to the market forums.
Otherwise, your market complaints confuse me. -

Quote:I appologies if you're idea of a villain doesn't seem to agree with the more modern take on villainy. I would recommend to stop reading Disney comics and pick-up a modern DC series; DC has far less mustache twirling. Thank-you.Bah. The only real problem with "redside" is it doesn't live up to its name - it's actually "brown-and-greyside". The Rogue Isles need a complete overhaul, visually, and be moved from north of Bermuda down to the middle of the Caribbean.
As for the question of "Does it get better."
Fire/kins aside from Tanks/Brutes and scrappers are the number 1 choice for farmers as at later lvls it is an EXCELLENT combination.
I would recommend using your fire/kin to farm AE, roll 25-29 bronze recipes, craft recipes and sell these on the market. You said you had sons; how about attempting to Speed run Posi and numina TFs for merits, turn it into a competition and actively participate in Hami-raids. Check the market for a recipe that is selling at a fair price (compare the recipe and crafted recipe before hand) buy from the merit vendor and sell the recipe on the market for cash.
Also take the time to look at recipes that you can craft and sell for a modest profit.
engage in transfering of funds from blue to redside. There are plenty of people on any given server that would be willing to assist you in these types of transactions.
Enjoy your fire/kin. It only gets much more profitable. -
Quote:You're welcome.I'm pretty much done with red. The market population is so small many things aren't available. When they are available the redside marketeers are busy screwing you in every way they can. Blueside market is much much larger and more active, so much more pleasant to use for a casual player since it is so much more difficult for marketeers to actually lock things down. Nice work marketeers, you've driven me and my sons to play blue when nothing else so far had done so.
We marketeers are also against public health care, we support sterilization of welfair recipients and actively lobby for parent licensing. -
Is it worth putting the defenseDebuff procs into Flytrap?

Quote:*facepalm* I'm too lazy to explain. Someone else, please.Everyone can already get a travel power at an earlier level. No one is stopping us from getting them. The problem is that some people don't want to make the effort to get them. They want freebies.
1. Sell the inspirations you get from doing the tutorial and buy a jetpack from the vendor. This can be done at level 1.
2. Buy the mini-booster from the NCSoft online store for $4.99 and all your characters on your account will have a jetpack for 30 days.
3. Pay for your account using the $20. time card and the mini-booster jetpack is included as a part of the cards activation code.
4. Play the game for 45 minutes, and get a jetpack as your mission reward for completing thr safeguard bank mission in Kings Row or Mayhem Mission in Port Oakes.
5. Trade in 10 candy canes and 10,000 inf to the Candy Keeper when the Chalet is open and get a Jingle Jet.
Anyone that claims they can't fly before level 14 is making absolutely no effort to get that power. -
