Quote:I would take a kin troller and an emp troller over a Defender any day for two words:But we weren't talking about a Kin. We were talking about an Illusionist. Yes, his secondary is Kinetics. If you want a Kin, get a defender. The secondary is there to supplement the primary, and frankly, SB is useless for Illusion.
Power Boost.
Quote:As far as "team mentality" goes, yes the team should work together. Working together doesn't mean having a kin babysitting toons that can't turn on [Sprint] without gasping for breath. Myself, I quit team the instant I hear "We need a kin", "I need Speed Boost" or anything of the sort.
I'd rather have Father Xmas of a power pool scrapper on my team, than you refusing good players for skipping skippable powers. Good thing I'm on his server and not yours.
If I neglected those team buffs I am doing my team a dis-service. Likewise if I didn't take Radiation Infection on my rad..I doubt my teammates would want me back on their team.
SB in my opinion is NOT a skippable power, especially if team efficiency and speed is your goal.
If you are only taking powers for selfish reasons, why team at all? -
Quote:Sorry, haven't been paying much attention to this thread. I'll send you a tell; it's a Mind/Energy perma dom. with the exception of lOtgs the build cost under 250mil. I created the build for a friend that wanted a perma dom but didn't have the time to to earn the millions it would normally take.i would like to see the build how u got over 100% rech without hasten for under 248 mill so i can make one as well
I should probably rephrase my statement:
I made a perma dom for under 250mil in 3 days. However it took me a few more days to afford the lotgs for perma hasten.
I don't count the lotgs because they are not a set, the build only relies on a few and you can easily buy them with merits.
it's posted on the Kitty forums which...I have no access to at this time. But I will definitely send you the build once I get home today. -

Quote:Going to agree with Castle here. This should be the only question asked.
Any other questions are pointless.
There isn't much I want to know that I don't already know the answer to. So I would like to know what the developers would like us to know.
I'd really appreciate if the questions were taken from the forums and from the social networking site. However, have those questions and answers posted here. -
Quote:Funny, you should say that:
What I see are folks asking for a better metric to determine merit rewards while not alienating either the preferred playstyles; normal and speed.

Quote:Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the reason for the sudden proliferation in villainous rednames as our developers (Dr. Aeon, The Television, Black Scorpion) is because War Witch's true allegiance is making itself known.
And it was even caught on film in an OFFICIAL trailer!
ftp://ftp.coh.com/movies/grandville_720.wmv
Yep, as early as 2006, our intrepid leader is clearly visible in Grandville (starting at 0:59), fighting alongside villains (and she OBVIOUSLY isn't on the Statesman Task Force - so much for that excuse).
The truth is out!
Samuraiko/Dark_Respite
Samuraiko just won the internets.
I've seen that trailer atleast 8 times I can't believe I completely missed WW. Great catch! -

No thank-you, I'm perfectly comfortable with online people assuming i'm male. d;D

To be fair, I wouldn't invite a kin without SB in the first place. Nerd rage, not at all. I like individuals on my team that have a team mentality.

Quote:I'd kick you too if you didn't have SB on my team as a kin. Don't care what your concept may be, if you expect to be invited on a team as a kin, expect the team to assume your build is team friendly; if it isn't, don't be surprised if you are kicked.Well I've been in angry PUGs because my Ill/Kin didn't have speed boost or inertial reduction. Sorry it didn't fit my concept of how her powers work. Anyways I prefer to use my character in ways other than simply be a team's buff bot (hey I have a whole primary powerset to work with).
Besides, you can rationalize any power to fit your concept, just takes a little imagination. -

Quote:Hey, thanks for the feed back, changed my build a bit as I do want to keep mobs from running, however I rather NOT take roots as it tends to hog my endurance and I use the Knock up from fissure and tremor as a means to mitigate damage coming at me. The placate proc in spore burst acts as a second confuse while I'm waiting for confuse to recharge so I see more use out of it than I do roots (yes i also use it in lrsfs).Since you have capped S/L defence, I wouldn't worry about your melee and ranged defence values, plus with PFF you have a good way out of any sticky situations.
With regards to farming with a Plant/ Dom I would definitely take Roots at it has double the damage of any other "Control" AoE immoblizes. In the following build, I swapped it out for Spore Burst, losing just under 4% rech. (Posi's instead of FH) but I think it will be much more useful. (Unless you plan on using the sleep a lot for LRSFs?)
I also upped the resist on Tough a bit, while trading of 1.5% HP, but you'll have good HP numbers anyway, paricualrly with your accolades, and the Soulbounds/Shield Walls. Other thing I did was put a FF +Rech proc in Fissure which I personally like a lot in those sorts of powers but it's by no means mandatory.
On a sidenote, that build is going to be VERY expensive, I hope you really like the toon/have the fundsIf you wanted to drop the price a bit, you could swap the Shield Walls for LotGs, and you won't miss the GA +3% def proc too much.
Here's a build very similar to yours, with a few changes, your original slotting on the Scorp sheild/weave are on the alternate bit.
Hope all that helps,
Tux.
My damage will be coming from spamming tremor and fissure for the most part. I took mud pots for the slow and AoE damage and as a proc delivery. My only concern is my endurance recovery while running mud pots, is mud pots worth taking? Also is 45% S/L defense enough?
Bellow is my build revision:

Oh, don't get me wrong I pug as well but I tend to make sure I have atleast 2 or 3 others that I know can pull the weight of the rest of the team. So, 2-3 of my team members are almost always channel friends and the five others are random folk that we are either veting for possible channel membership, we felt like being nice and allowing the player to ride on our coat-tails or they are just acting as a filler.
-
I've never "had" to kick anyone as I have always been able to pick-up the slack of a team member. However, I rarely have the privelege of teaming with incompetent players. I have my Channel members to thank for that, you're all awesome guys!
<3 hugs and chicken butts! -
Quote:Oh sweetheart, don't run pugs with VU chan members; that's scraping the bottom of the community barrel.I never kick for power choices.
I kick if you do something stupid like training mobs on us, or run into a room screaming some version of "lerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroyjeeeeeenkins", and if you act like a jerk.
Funny enough I can barely remember the last time I kicked someone.
Might be because I no longer do pugs and make most teams from the global channels like VU and the Freedom Channels.
/shrug.
Let me know your Global and I'll get you invited to channels with some competent Virtue TF/SF runners.
As for being kicked from teams, I have been kicked 4 times in my entire gaming experience and each of those times were on blueside.
1st Time: I was kicked for declining a SG invite.
2nd Time: I was kicked because I wasn't participating in role-play.
3rd time: The leader thought my avatar was hot and tried to coax me into ERPing with him in tells. I declined, I guess his ego was hurt so he kicked me.
4th time: I wiped the first floor clean waiting for the tank on my ill/storm. I was kicked because "I wasn't the tank." -

I was trying to thwart badness with my "poor" fighting skills and then we all fell down. Bad skillz? Or MAD skillz?
You be the judge.

I hear the new War Witch trial will be an SF. -
Quote:Just farming pvpers that come into RV expecting me to pvp fairly and not like a farmer. I try to avoid attacking those who I cannot recieve rep from.Sorry about the thread-jack, anyway what methods are you using in the drop rate tests.
Dualboxing and killing the same toon over and over again, normal pvp or setting up a group of different people trying to farm it?
The drop-rate sucks for pvp IOs but it is still much higher than purple drop rate, even in pvp zones. -
No, i'm saying if it weren't for the farmers there wouldn't be any PvP IOs or much, much, less than we have now.
Wasn't someone attempting to keep track of how many PvP IOs were dropping in arena ladder matches? from what I remember reading; it was very rare that they ever did. -
Just as an update the week I posted the above I spent 5 days farming for 1.5-2 hours a day, I recieved 5 PvP IOs (2 one night, none the final night). By the weekend I just got bored of farming.
I'll probably end up doing the same this coming week. For now i'm bored of farming people.
And Xan, sweety. If PvP IOs were granted only to people who actually PvPed, you would never have pvp IOs.
The sentiment that PvP IOs should reward PvP skill is ridiculous and stupid. No one has that anymore. -
Quote:What I'm reading is that folks want teams to be penalized for being more efficient. Despite the possibility of those team members having spent time working on their build and building a team to move through a TF/SF easily and efficiently. My experience is exactly the opposite of yours on the ITF. Every team I've been on that runs ITF, pretty much just steamrolls everything in its path. There isn't really anything on that TF that can be stealth/TP'd and avoided.
Mission 1: Team has to free all 10 Sybils, then get Sister Solaris to the altar.
Mission 2: Team has to destroy the 10 Shadow Cysts.
Mission 3: Team has to defeat the generals, the computer, Romulus and Requiem.
Mission 4: Team has to defeat Romulus and 300 Cimeroran Traitors.
Stealth and TP aren't going to allow the team to avoid any of those objectives.
Too many folks in this thread are assuming that fast & efficient teams are somehow 'cheating' and skipping most of the content during TF/SF runs. It is much less of that, and much more of them simply being players leveraging their strengths such as regularly playing together & lots of experience running TF's, combined with an excellent understanding of game mechanics, team composition and builds.
mean time is a horrible metric to base merit rewards on as you end up penalizing the entire community. I would much prefer merits being based off of types of objectives, number of missions, and a "projected" time that does not change based on average completion, as well as difficulty settings. -
A team should not be penalized for running a tf or sf the way they want to. You did not specify "merit' rewards. Your post stated clearly "rewards." The fact is, you recieve MORE rewards from tfs/sfs by steam rolling than speed running; so no, merit rewards should not be affected by the pace you choose to complete a mission.
