Quote:Actually even without too many stacking defenses, the shield really does help more than it doesn't. Anytime I think "Oh, it's just this much defense, I can go without it" and then usually get promptly killed when going in for a FS or Tranfusion or Transference. You really see its benefits stacked, but even just slotted up, it vastly improves survivability. Also has some energy, though not as much as the S/L. As with any defense power, it matters when you stack it on top of other bonuses. I originally had not planned for Scorpion Shield. I was going for ranged defense, and I did end up with about 32% total, but I also ended up with a fair amount of energy. With scorp shield up, I actually have more total energy defense than anything else and with a few debuffs, I am dodging S/L melee attacks like an SR scrapper. With all the long rooting animations in AR, it's inevitable I'll take melee attacks and this makes it a whole lot less painful.
Quote:My personal experience with Ignite was that in most cases it just took too long to set up and it was time I felt could be better spent just using my normal attacks. It was an amazing power when it didn't require lots of slots on my AR/Traps, but with the massive recharge nerf it got it became a shadow of it's former self.
Against immobile foes, the thorn tree, the ITF computer, AVs that don't flee, it's great. Solo it's good. On teams... just stick to your secondary powers and your regular AoEs will be more than enough.
Its animation time is WAY too long...in a set full of long animation times. To me, using it all the time reduced my fun.
But yeah, on teams, usually people are killing things so fast, by the time I set up the Ignite, the mob I'm trying to kill is already dead. Cones are much better. -

I might actually be interested in showing up once or twice.

Quote:I had friends who would grenade the entire mob right as I hit Dark Regen. Grenade isn't a bad power, per say, but it makes me cringe everytime."And I have no idea why HK008 would suggest M30 if you're duoing with a mind. That's a bit...bizarre."
No love for the grenade huh?
And, with the whole mind dom thing, the synergy is a bit odd. -

So....when you gonna make the official "I'm the Mids guy" post on Infinity boards? Seeing as our sheer awesomeness, lulz and addicting dramarama kept you from drifting back to Freedumb or whatever server it was you were on...

Quote:They rez at full health and full end.Again, at half-hitpoints, and without Dull Pain in the way. Though, I'm not sure if it's 50% health or only 30%. It's not like it takes a whole lot of additional effort, unless you were already struggling to take them out, or a Boss comes back up.
Quote:With my FF/Elec Defender where *I* have endurance drain, good defense and status resistance, yes, they are a snap for me. Repulsion Bomb + Ball Lightning + Short Circuit, PFF for about two-five seconds and then do it again. BOOM, all dead but the boss, who is completely drained of endurance.
Mooks however have higher reistences to most types of damage, they go down MUCH slower for me.
They're aren't hard, like the majority of things in game aren't hard, but they give my scrappers headaches because of the S/L resists. Both my scrappers are all lethal damage. ALL lethal. I can't really solo a tank boss on my normal diff. Or if I feel like slogging through it, I have to pop reds or really hope my personal +dam powers cycle fast enough, just because it's that resisted.
I don't mind them getting dropped to 1.0, if they're dropping the xp, but .8 would mean I flat out avoid them at all times on my scrappers, just because the risk vs reward would never be worth it. -
See, I love almost all /kin powers. Transfusion has let me solo EBs. Siphon Speed makes me go fast, without the end hog of SS, and it helps me get Hasten up redonkulously fast without slotting for a recharge build. Siphon Power has none of the pizazz of Fulcrum Shift, but you get a consistent damage buff at a low level, and you can help speed up everyone else on your team with it. ID, when used right, has saved teams. Hell, I've used it to help out brutes tanking more than they could chew. IR is fantastic if you don't take a vertical travel power. Repel is more useful as a 'fun' power, but I have run into one or two people who used it to keep themselves safe when things get sticky.
They're all useful, just to different degrees, and in different scenarios. Just because some kins don't use more than 3 powers in their secondaries doesn't make the other powers bad. I was being useful and helpful to teams long before 20.
And I play my buffers and debuffers offensively (people shake their heads over how often I'll be sitting next to the melee toon on any toon, with or without status protection), but I'm also a complusive buffer/debuffer. I get the most use out of my corruptors by using both sets equally, or by realizing that "Hey, this team needs damage. FS, SB and blast, don't bother with the other powers" or "Hey, this team is a damage machine, they can be helped more by me keeping them going nonstop" or "Hey, this team needs everything. I can debuff, buff and damage. Wheeee!"
Honestly, I'm not really sure AR/Kin is what you're looking for. I'd really suggest looking into other set combos. Maybe Ice/Dark? Lots of single targets, soft holds, good debuffs, the works.
And I have no idea why HK008 would suggest M30 if you're duoing with a mind. That's a bit...bizarre. -
Don't take ID yet! She has Dom, which is like a breakfree. In addition to that, she's a mind dom, and you say she's not getting hit much. Take either the snipe (I don't normally take snipes, I'm too impatient to wait for it, but if you're dying THAT much, snipes can really up the damage potential, and help with pulls for big groups, especially if the group is sleeping). You could start on a travel. Hover is good for hover blasting, combat jumping is good for immob protection and extra defense....etc, etc. Also, constantly keeping ID up will mean more redraw for you. Irritating, to say the least.
If she starts getting held a lot cause Dom is down, explain that she needs to spam attacks to build dom, or just to combine three insps into a breakfree.
Then take Flamethrower at 18, Stamina at 20 (trust me, your end bar not running out every fight will help more than keeping her end bar consistently full), and then SB at 20. Flamethrower ups your killing speed, so while it's end hungry, it'll kill mobs faster, thus helping your end bar in a backwards way (mobs dying faster=less end used overall). -
I would actually like something like this for one of my corrs, but she's far away from being able to do anything about it...
And honestly, may be a better response on either the rp sgs personal websites or Virtue, just because this does involve more rp-oriented things, and Infinity tends to take a "SRS RP IS COOTIES" approach. -
For your AR/Kin woes, I'd recommend respecing out of TP Friend, and just holding off on travels if possible, and rely on temp travels. Pick up Beanbag. Help the dom out, and stun the bad guys giving you problems.
Also, after a while, you'll learn that Slug kb's (if I am remembering right) and Burst doesn't. For right now, kb is your main mitigation. And learn how to move around. On my kin I'm always moving. In and out of combat range (it helps give you a bit of breathing room if things are iffy cause it can trigger the switch between melee and range attacks in the NPCs, though this takes getting used to...), and always spamming slug and beanbag if it's a hard fight. Heck, take repel if it'll help your playstyle. And as a side note, your end is going to suck pre Stamina on AR/Kin. There's no helping it, and no avoiding it, even if you slot only end reducs.
Basically...on some corruptors, you have to be more proactive. Only good enemy is a dead enemy. Insps are your friends. Using kb and the stun are your friends. Running like a chicken with your head cut off...also, your friend.
And if it's still giving you THAT much trouble, roll a fire/dark. Take tar patch, the toggle, the heal and eventually fearsome stare and fluffy. Take RoF, Fire Breath and Fireball. Maybe flares. Viola. Lotta damage, very safe. Take hasten, and you'll be kinda fast at it too. -
*hands Gabby a cookie*
*pats her on the head* -
Quote:No, I'm saying that except for the fire/kin, all the controller combos you have at 50 are extremely sturdy and shouldn't be dying. It's about combinations, not particular powersets.I'm lost >.> Are you saying that Ice/ Grav/ /Ta And /FF controllers need rezzes?
And I have a baby cold defender on heroside. Unfortunately, I suck at leveling, so you're SOL for me bringing it along...ever. -
And that's what *I* get for posting before coffee. Mmm, coffee. It runs through my veins...
And sounds good to me concerning IO changes. *thumbs up* If I didn't have so many dark blast toons already, I'd consider rolling a dark/dark. I've heard it's a sick combo when played right. -
Er, just so you know, in my version of Mids, you are waaaaaay over the soft cap in multiple powers. While I understand that a lot of NPCs have a lot of def debuff...you may be able to speed up your leveling speed a bit if you pull out a set or two and focus more on damage? Or end reduc, if end problems are that bad.

Think he dropped the Mids' link, seeing as he was recently promoted to Official Mids Guy.
He's working with the Titan Network now to actually update the builder to i16...from i13....wheeee. -
Quote:There is a rumor going around that drop rates are lowered in i16 test. According a post earlier today by Synapse, they didn't touch anything on purpose, but he's checking on it and will get back to us. So far, there are quite a few tests floating around that show a potential overall decline, but not as bad as it was originally feared (and there is a chance it can be attributed to a map bug--more data is incoming to determine what the problem is). Thanks for the reply. Like I said, the REALLY expensive IOs I already have or almost have. Already have an LoTG +7% and a Numina Regen/Recovery, as well as a Kismet +Acc, so the only other super expensive one I'll need is the Miracle.
What's the story on the new drop rates? I havent heard.
And I wasn't sure how many of the expensive recipes you had, so that's good to hear. Do you also have the salvage yet, or just recipes?
And one power choice thought: I'd think about dropping Bitter Freeze Ray for Freeze Ray, just for activation time. Same power, Freeze Ray holds for a bit less time, but has a much nicer activation time (2 seconds less, I believe), and with ice/storm you want mobility.
And again, slotting isn't my strong point, but maybe pull a slot outta Ice Blast--the one with end reduc (if you really end up with the two /end set IOs, this should be ok...) and put it into Aim, and swap the end reduc in Aim for two recharges, which will help considering you only have two recharges in Hasten. Or try and find two Rectified Reticles and drop them into Aim, which will give you even moar defense. And I'd recommend going that fourth Dampened Spirits in Hurricane...it'd give you neg +res, which you have none of right now.
Of course I don't know how expensive completely twinking out the build would be...but if you have extra left over, I'd strongly recommend getting any +end set into Stamina. All have decent to good bonuses at three slots, and would help a wee bit with end problems (neat one-two punch solution).
But again, I'm not that good at slotting, so that take portion with a grain of salt. -
Ok, see, I took a look at your list of controllers...if you ever die on all but the fire/kin, you're doing it wrong.
For the rest of us, rezzes are useful on squishies.
The end. -
Quote:I'm pretty sure that Black isn't actually reading the responses...unless someone wants to post about how "We're so sorry! We have seen the destruction and detriment of our ebil ways! Please, let us raid our storage and pull purples and rares off the market to give to you for a paltry sum to make up for us killing the game!!!!"hey Black, what part of this statement didn't you understand? the people that understand how the markets work DO NOT price the things they are selling at the high prices. if that was the case their things would never sell. it is the unknowledgable people that price their goods high and the IWANTITNAO people that pay the high prices. if people stopped treating the market like a store and placed bids instead of tryin to buy everything right away then prices wouldn't be as high as they are.
with that said and i16 coming out soon we should see a drop in prices as it goes on.
That being said, in the vain hope he's actually reading...as others have said, we list for what people will pay. If they aren't buying it, obviously it's listed too high, or no one wants it. If you want a completely purpled out character, your best bet is to figure out a way to make crap tons of inf, or figure out a purple farm to get the drops you want. Problem solved, and no need to deal with dirty, ebil marketeers. -
Just gave it a quick skim, but no thorough read...looks pretty good to me, at least powers-wise. Looked at the slotting, but that's really my weak point, so can't comment on it much...but unless recipes are vastly different than they used to be, that's a bit of an expensive build.
...also, may want to try stocking up on those now, seeing as with new drop rates, the market may get borked come i16. ...just saying.
I'll look at it more closely later, to see if I can spot any glaring problems. -
I have a friend who uses that on Rommy. Way too funny...
I don't really use battlecries all that much. Only got three that I know of... "Party like it's 1699!" for my punk-loving stormy, "QUACK!!!" for my wereduck brute (don't ask) and "Ger off mah island!" for Operative Curmudgeon. -
Quote:See, before it died and I had to upgrade, my old comp was bad enough I couldn't team without massive lag, so unless my sg was on to help me up through the levels a bit (not pl'ing cause Lawd knows they talked too much to pl, but just letting me basically anchor for them), I solo'd.Feh, once you get SB you can buffbot your way past those levels on any o' PuG (especially in AE). Which is what I did.
My AR/Kin's been fun for teaming but I have NO idea if he can solo at all. I created him like 2 years back, got him up to about 30 and wandered off, then came back recently and he's now up to 39. But that was all teaming. One of these days I need to fight back my fear and try some solo and see what happens.
And if you do decide to solo, I got one word for you: Beanbag. That one freaking power saved my bacon more times than I can count. Being able to stun anything under a boss was priceless.
And I think anything with AoE debuffs would be sweet with a AR, just due to all the cones and AoE powers (like Ignite). -

Evidently we're just going to have different opinions about him, which is fine. He was mostly paired with Cable to show the differences between two guys doing the same job, to be honest. But, anyways, this is off-topic from the original topic, and I'm pretty sure neither of us are going to agree with the other no matter how many points we both bring up, so...I'll bow out of this debate.
As to CO, not really interested, but maybe if it seems more appealing down the road I'll look into it.
