  1. Also, flashbacks without any power limitations can also be used to earn merits.

Division:Line is excellent for this as you can stealth or luck rush most missions and with a bit of practice can be done in around an hour. A mate of mine often grinds this arc out for merits. 21 merits per run I believe.

Alternatively there is a very low level badge mission (earns you 'negotiator')which is listed as 'break up the clockwork and the skulls' iirc. Thi is a one hour timed mission given out by a contact in Galaxy City and takes place in King's Row. The good news is that the maps are small and you have only around 20 clocks and 2 skulls to defeat. the bad news is that you are exemped to level 9. teleporting to contact loses you time, so a base that has a crystal and a King's Row beacon is very useful here as is a raptor pack. Of course Peacebringers and Warshades can look a little smug at this point, at least until they spot Mr. Void. By judicious use of inspirations my ws never went over 10 minutes to do this, and once (with the mission transporter temp.)did it in 5 minutes.

The reward? 4 merits every single time.

i.e. an hours farming should net you 20 -24 merits
  2. Highbeam's flashback guide on the US forums comes to much the same conclusions as this, not surprisingly avoiding EB's with a handicap isn't much fun.

Some subsequent comments brought up some useful stuff.

Percy Winkley's 'Origin of Power' arc unlocks at level 50 ..and indeed that is the level you do it at, however the badges awarded are in the 25-29 range. A load of 'talk to's' and one door mission may be preferable to 'A Madaman's council' perhaps.

Often all you need is a little luck, which you can buy off Mender Roebuck.

If you are doing 'I lost my Daddy' in faultline for the 15- 19 range and you can still use inspirations the popping lots of purples can get you past the 'Wacky Races' homage and directly to Mr. Yin. Once you've disposed of his guard mob, run to the exit, munching more purples on the way to keep topped up. Mr Yin will ignore anything else and as long as he doesn't get hung up on the scenery, will stick to you like glue. Did this repeatedly on my badgehunter, A celerity+stealth on my power slide got me to him unharmed and lotsa purples and sprint got me back.

Also the big crystal inside the ourobouros building will tp you back to your contact- useful if s/he is taking ages to give up their cellphone number.

SG bases are a great source of empowerment buffs if the right equipment is installed. In spd's base we have the tech version- a radiation emulator. with the right salvage you can get a huge variety of buffs which last for an hour (whatever the help text says)So you can get a bit of toxic resistance againt the nasty Vazhilok for example. Or you can grab an hour's duration of invisiblility if you're not normally stealthy. A base with a good set of beacons and an ourobouros crystal makes a good starting point if the arc starts in a zone other than the contact's.

useful guide btw. Just do the same for villains
  3. I saw a review for City of Villains in 'Computeractive' but it wasn't until I saw the DVD edition of CoH in a game shop that I took the plunge.
  4. Another thing you could do is to pu a call out on the 'help' channel...perhaps someone with 'recall friend' or similar can tp you out of there.
    that'll work if you're de-synced too iirc.
  5. Best of luck for the future, for you and all affected ppl.
  6. It's taken a while,

    but,

    <-----has finally got,

    500 badges
  7. false dawn it seems, tried to log back in after taking daughter to guides...no luck. even after flushing the dns. worth generating another support ticket?...it looks like my online gaming activities are going to be severely curtailed this weekend as probably everyone's gone home by now.
  8. patience has paid off, logging off finally.
  9. patience has paid off logging in finally.
  10. Ahhh...it's probably a Tovil thing then connecting attempt no.15 and counting
  11. Virgin media here too...just testing the download speed to Frankfurt as i heard a rumour the server cluster was thereabouts..speed logged in at just over 12mb. However the updater is now on connection attempt no. 7
  12. same here....it was ok at 5:30 am wheni checked to see if I'd gotten a day job badge I was after...not that i'm obssessed or anything. just come in...and the coh updater is making several unsuccessful attempts to connect. the firewall software says the cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe are both allowed. GR mentions that this sometimes happens after a patch, but as far as i can see...the updater hasn't even got to the stage of making a patch request.
  13. but not Major General .....thx again everybody

  15. thanks for spotting that guys...serves me right for crafting in the wee small hours I guess
  16. I mean...

    I got all the prerequisites

    the progress bar is full

    but no accolade

I've /bugged this of course, but so far I've only got the automated replies back.

I don't mind paying out the daft amounts of inf. After all the reason I got it was selling a few recipes for daft amounts of inf.

But I spent ages getting the badges for the accolade, and it would be nice to actually get it.

Has this happened to anyone else?..Can the GM's actually award the badge after the event?

  20. Mapserver disconnected 3 times in 45 mins. on Union, twice taking a long time to get back on. Gave up for the evening after 3rd time.
  21. It's worth mentioning that the free respecs that are given out do not stack, so if you have one unused, you're not going to get an extra one. If I recall correctly, these respecs tend to be given out just before the issue becomes live.

Back in the day, the best indicator when an issue was about to go live was Bridger going on holiday a week beforehand
  22. Gratz on your 50 and welcome to wonderful world of kheldians.

    *looks round

*whispers 'you'll find that you've unlocked kheldians in union too.

Edit yay! first post after FFM!
  23. Well I have a level 50 triform ws and I cerainly don't use the human form as an 'in-between' state for the other two forms. Essentially I tend to use the 2 forms as useful adjuncts to the ws abilities. Need to lay down more damage against an AV? switch to nova form, preferably taking a sunless mire and eclipse buff first. Need mez resistance or need to draw aggro away from a teammate?..Dwarf form. Need to keep a 12 year old player's attention on the mission and off the costume your female ws is wearing? Either form will do

Of course this represents how I like playing warshades and similar results may not occur if using your own playing style.

Having a warshade though has taught me loads about keybinding and macros. I can now not only switch between forms but I also have a 'panic button' bind that can drop out of a dwarf or nova and then activate nebulous form, just need the acivation time speeded up plz devs .

There's an awful lot of info out there on guides here and on the us forums...remember that a particular build may not suit your way of play.

best of luck with your kheldian.
