And how do they compare to Photoshop?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The big difference is the vectors ... inking with vectors allows for a nice precision that "I" can't get freehanding in Photoshop.

Curve smoothing, stretching with no loss of quality, and other cool stuff. I like how it takes very little resources (PC wise) to build a picture that could be huge in the end since you don't need to work at actual size to have the line precision you want in the end. Laying down flats can also be very quick if you use you linework to build closed object that can be easily filled ... its just different. Better for certain things and not so better for others.

Would be great for cellshading look ... bad for a painted look.
  6. Thor's Assassin was looking for someone to color a piece that Graver sketched and that was inked by a Deviant today ... I have been wanting to get something of mine in his gallery for a while so ... I gave it a shot and came up with this

Assassin of Thor - Sketch by Graver, ink by Taclobanon, colors by me

    Susan Steel

Just to be clear ... States never said her/his brother was looking for commissions. Right?
  8. I wanted to hit liberty (red side at least) over the weekend but ... Justice kept me way too busy.
  9. You see I have a analytical mind ... I calculate everything ... so for me ... setting a start point, an end point ... ajusting the curve, smoothing nodes so the curve isn't choppy ... etc ... is how my brain works ... this isn't drawing ... in the pure sense of the term.
  10. Just got my 2nd commission by Christopher Schenck. This one is for my dominator Blackthorn.
  11. the reason I don't do many is because it takes for ever the way I do it ... I do have a tablet at home but I tend to draw at work. Add to that the fact that I like things to be just the way I want it and you have me working in a vectorial software (Corel Draw) drawing the outer and inner line of each stroke and filling in the shape after.

    Long process ...

Great work ! These are very nice and quirky.

If you want a challenge and would like to give Thornster a try, you are more than welcome to it.

There are also Starslicer and Capt Quebec which are way more traditionnal.
  14. I have 3 50s and art for all of them ... plus a few of 2 other 30s toons.

Most are of my Spines/DA scrapper
Then I got quite a few of my ice/ice blaster

as for my plant/thorn Dom, my fire/DA brute and my DW/WP scrapper ... I have just one here and there for each.
  15. That is very cool 8Baller ... just having the picture of the figurine is already quite an accomplishement ... because to us .. you have it ... since we would never see the real figurine anyway ... hehe ...

I prefer the copper over the bronze.
  16. And on the first 50 ... Go big or go home why don't ya?

    hehe
  17. And to DING 50 on top of everything ... nice and ... woot ! Gratz!
  18. When I started coloring ... I would color an area until it was done and then move on to the next ...

In my last piece ... I would pick a color lay it down here there, then move to the lighter version of that color (or some highlight/shade tone) and lay it here and there ... what that did is that I was working on a much larger part of the image and I didn't end up overworking one area for ever ... since I was a little "further" from the picture I had a more ... generalized look so I didn't worry about little details as much.

But my most important lesson ... you can clean at the end ... it doesn't take long ... and certainly less time than trying to stay "within the lines" all the time.
  19. Bob, I told you there was no way you could leap from the ledge over that tree!
