Quote:Recognized someone?I think you should black out the avatar pictures too - they could be recognizable if that's their main cosutme.
Most of the images are at least a year old, so none of these characters are probably wearing what they have on in the images. In the event that someone recognizes themselves, they're free to send me a nastygram, and I'll blur their character's face. They should probably also feel like a bad person or something. -
Quote:Oh, nice, that site still exists. Doesn't look like Bizarre's updating it anymore though. He's free to yoink these if he is, of course.

Union, actually. I'm guessing the guy having issues with the French being "lame" is a Brit.

Ladies and gentlemen. One of the defining characteristics of humanity is the ability to draw enjoyment from laughing at Those People. In that vein, I think it's time again for one of those "stupid bios" threads.
(Names of Those People have been obscured to protect their identity)
- Ever had a freshly used diaper spun in the air in front of you and been worried that some of the offending substance within might fly out and stick on you at any second? Me neither, but I'd imagine it would feel about the same as reading the following biography:
Plus points for the original concept of that Mercs MM being the "slave" of her Mercs though. Oh, and French maids of course. Can't have too many of those...
-The next one has everything. Slipknot, radiation, personal hygiene problems in the form of reeking brimstone. Awesome!
-The effect of that all-caps goodness was lessened a bit by the fact that the gentleman in question asked me moments later for directions, in just about the politest way imaginable.
-Dude. Save the attitude for the NPCs. "You can't last 2 mins in my world"? I should hope it takes 2 minutes or less for the staff to react if an unknown, badly groomed geek with a 7 inch goatee wanders into your preschool.
-I can't quite make sense of the next one, but it's got young temptresses, so sign me in!
-Here's a bonus one. An utterly generic demoness. Must be a IKEA instruction booklet for them somewhere.
That's the catch for now, mesdames & monseigneurs. I await for your contribution.
*bows* -
Yes I do. I tend to build Revolver temp powers for my Sekrit Agent MA scrapper for use as a "backup weapon" and some range, etc.
What can I say. I'm a 35 year old childish man in a 35 year old man's body. -

I was referring to SwellGuy's comment about the "Latest Reputation Received" you can see in your Control Panel. When someone gives you positive reputation, the comments show up with green boxes next to them. Negative ones have red boxes. And SwellGuy was getting gray boxes for some reason.
-
Negative ones should have red boxes. Maybe there's a way to give neutral reputation...
Oh, someone's repped me up. To the Vulgarmobile!
You all suck duck's eggs! -
You could just offer to send him a new one?
-
Oh, forgot to wish Happy Unbirthday for everyone not born today!
-
Methinks we're still missing some holidays from that list.
System Administrator Appreciation Day(Last Friday in July):
Random drops of inspirations that stop you from zoning or using WW/BM for 10 minutes. Also a good opportunity to introduce a Dr. Aeon Strike Force.
International Dadaism Month(Random day every year):
The blimp over Atlas changes to a giant sturgeon for the day. Obviously, all contacts speak in bird noises and █▀█▀█ █▄█ █▄█ █▀█▀█ █ █▄ █ █▀█▀█ █▄█
World Naked Bike Ride(February 13th. Yes, link contains nudity, BEWARE!):
Vehicles! Yes, this is here purely because of the vehicles. Think about how awesome it would be to zoom around the city, busting crime on your very own bicycle! Also... can we have the nipples back on female characters? -
I've been following these boards for years, despite not having posting rights, and I've come to know you as a thoughtful individual who has had a lot to contribute here. No doubt you'll do the same in the world of academics.
Congratulations on your choice to pursue higher education and good luck! -
Like I was about to post to a thread that was suddenly deleted from under us, people really need to get used to getting negative reputation and the comments associated with them.
Otherwise the reputation system will be completely useless, just like the AE ratings, where if someone doesn't praise you constantly, they must be "obviously griefing" you. -
Nah. Just the Swedes.
There were a couple of gay SGs in the early days of the European servers, from what I remember. I think I even teamed with some people from one called the "HomoJustice League". I guess they ran afoul of the filter or a zealous GM.
Not being of the persuasion, I haven't the faintest idea how "HomoJustice" differs from the regular type of Justice, but I digress... -
Quote:Yep, that's exactly what was happening. The culprit turned out to be the iZ3D driver I recently installed. The camera seems to be back to normal.Maybe something that is running in the background is temporarily taking focus away from the game,
Thanks for your help. -
Except that I'm not using a wireless mouse. :P
I should probably have mentioned that in the first post, since that'd be the most obvious cause for the problem. It's not a hardware problem anyway, since this doesn't happen in any other game. -
I've been away from the game for about two months and after I came back, I noticed the camera acting weirdly. When I use mouselook, and move the mouse quickly to right or left, the camera starts to spin around wildly. Sometimes it ends up pointing straight up or down, or just in a random direction.
I've tried changing the camera settings, but nothing seems to help.
Anyone else having similar issues? -
Hahaha. This is brilliant! The thunderous rumble you can hear on the background is the sound of all the farmers collectively [censored] their pants.
The official thread on the US forums is a goldmine of hilarity btw. Farm-monkeys hurling personal insults at Posi in all-caps etc. etc.
Joy! -

i want to play a widow, i should be able from the start.

But that's the whole point of an Epic Archetype. It's supposed to be unlocked. As a treat so to say.
I want, doesn't get.

if you didn't cut the post, you did not post this.
i said it should be from the beginning later on, before that i said players should not be limited on enjoyment, which is exactly this.

Look. I can tell you're not very old, so you might have not noticed yet that the more effort it takes to get things, the more value they usually have to people.
CoH/V is supposed to be a game, and games have these things called rules, which you have to follow to progress. If you remove the rules, the game becomes a sandbox instead of a game. And this will drive away all players except those who are looking for a completely effortless sandbox.
For example, leveling up being so easy now makes all the effort people made in the early issues worth considerably less to many of them, and clearly some people have been wondering if it was worth it.
Obviously since you now can get all your new shiny powers in a day, you can't appreciate how this might offend the people who spent 6 months getting their chars to the level cap. -

I don't know what that is, but it sounds vile...

What? -
Weren't "I'm leaving"-threads forbidden by the forum rules at some point?
-
Thanks for the notes, Dave.
Managed to arrive a bit late & miss some of the meeting. -
I'd say the game is already wrecked, if it's possible to hit level 30 in 1-2 missions.
As for farming in general:
There's a HUGE farming thread on the US forums(yeah, there are *plenty* of threads on the subject) where Arcanaville and several other posters well versed in economic theory explain exactly why farming is hurting the game. And nobody is willing to get what they're saying.
Here's the thing in a nutshell:
Farming generates huge amounts of influence that never leaves the market. This causes the prices of rarer items to keep rising continuously, since the piling up of inf makes its perceived value to drop.
Now, since prices keep rising, you need to farm more and more to afford stuff, which drives the prices higher again.
Some people would argue that salvage and recipe drops would drive the prices down because of increased supply, but the fact is that when you sell the drops on the market, only 10% of the item's sale value leaves the market, and rest of the influence stays in the game, enabling you to pay the inflated prices for other stuff.
Just from my completely non-scientific observation, the prices of some unique set IOs have tripled since last summer. I wouldn't cry DOOOM or anything, but this isn't really healthy for the ingame market in the long run.
Obviously farming is a fast and efficient way to get what you want *in the short term*, but you're shooting yourself in the foot by doing it.
Cue the moans of "You can't tell me how to play, I pay my 15$/£/!" and other assorted rattle-throwing... -

I don't know whether this is related or not, but I lost all my global channels a while ago. After sending a few tells around, it seems this didn't happen to most other people.
*Shrug.*
[/ QUOTE ]
Like I mentioned previously in the thread, I had my global friends and channels disappear too, temporarily. A couple of other people have mentioned this happening to them too.
Custom channels also slow down sometimes, so that anything you type on a custom channel takes tens of seconds to appear on your screen after you hit Enter. -

When was this, in terms of time?
Our support team has had no further reports since 2:20pm so we're hoping the issue has resolved itself. We'd like to confirm this is indeed the case.
We still need as much information as possible to hopefully locate what caused this problem and prevent it recurring in future.

About an hour or 1.5 hours ago, I'd say. He was still logging in with different characters to see what happens to their contacts when I lost connection to Union's mapserver.
Of course I don't have much knowledge about the inner workings of your server infrastructure, but I do know that data loss issues rarely "resolve themselves".
