  3. You could always do Hero v. Villain matches in the Arena, just now you can both go to the same Arena station to do it.

    I'm not in a position to test it, but I don't see how dropping the levels by 1 will change the necessary tactics, especially if the non-standard codes for the Hero behavior are still in effect. It seems like it should just make the optimal teams able to beat it a bit faster is all.

    This is a nice, albiet general, buff. It will make a Dominator much better at the things no one was really remarking about as problem areas.

    Dominators will now be able to pop Domination alot more freely, which is good.

    However, Dominators will be no better at controlling AV/Heroes when the Purple Triangles are Up.

    Dominators will be only slightly better at contributing damage during AV/Hero fights because of the increased damage, however this changes makes them no more survivable and therefore melee damage, which is where the Dominator has his best damage, is still likely to get you killed against an AV/Hero.

    And, agreed again, the comments of Positron lead many to believe this buff would take a form more specific to the problems that Dominators have verses AV/Heroes. This definitely lead to a feeling of bait and switch.

    I think the Dev team needs to relook the differences between their vision for Dominators and the actual gameplay. Also, add in wildcard of the fact that despite Positron's self stated happiness with the AT, it is obviously not shared with his community as represented by the extremely low numbers of Dominators played on average, let alone all the way to lvl 50.
  6. For me it comes down to either Fly or SuperJump.

    Fly is very majestic, and therefore fits some characters very well.

    However, Super Jump feels so aggressive. I love "bounding" into the middle of a mob ready to fight.

    Yeah, they might have only gone to Blood Bay, Siren's Call and Warburg.

    Speaking of PvP, I hope they are datamining deeper that just "which side is winning", becuase that is more an effect of numbers that AT and Power Set Balance. I would hate to think that the devs are thinking that Dominators are fine in PvP just because villains happen to win the zones 1/2 the time.

    I think the lesson of The Hollows can be taught without making it a 1.5 mile hike..something like 600-700m would get the same point across without making it mind-numbing at the same time. Plus, the price for failure in this game is usually debt, but at that level its wasting twenty minutes of your playing time...something that they should endeavor to never waste.

    For the love of god, use this tech to make sure people get a share of the credit for a players defeat if they contributed to it, regardless if they are on a team.

    One huge contributor to some people not liking PvP is how easily you get screwed out of the hard earned reward for an enemy's defeat because of someone else strolled by and landed the final shot.

    You already do this in PvE, combine that with the above tech and eliminate some of the issues around kill-stealing!

    I would like to ask, again, if you could use this same tech to give due credit for defeats in PvP. If you can track what damage came from where for the application of debt, then I can't see it being a huge leap to use the same tech to figure out which players contributed to a players defeat and give them a share of the reward. As it is now, certain ATs and Sets easily, but not always intentionally, kill steal while others labor hard to get an enemy into position to get defeated only to loose out at the last second.

    That is the goal. We really like the animation since it is such a signature move. No promises, but we really don't want to change the look of the power.

    Yeah, because Corruptors really need a hold that looks way cooler than any hold a Dominator gets...

    Its so irritating to hold a boss, then some Corruptor hits it with this and sends it on a rolecoster ride for everyone to go "Oooooo, nice power!"

    Its not that we prefer them to be unchanged. Its just that some people are blowing things out of proportion, just like positron stated. I pulled a ice/fire dom to lvl 42 in 4 months almost completely with large PUGs. At this point I am still not having problems with him, he provides a lot of large scale damage mitigation with ice slick, artic air and shiver, and does great damage with /fire. I'd love a damage boost or a control boost but I don't really need it.

    Not to throw fire on this issue, but in all honesty, Ice/ and /fire have alot of what many people have been asking for in Doms in general.

    Basically:
    Ice/ has some good secondary effect debuffs and /fire has really good damage.

    Based on how they individually tweaked the Toggle Dropping capabilities of some powers that mulitiple ATs have, like Total Focus, I don't think we should assume that our Control Primaries can't be chanced without the same change affecting Controllers.
  16. I just hate when anyone suggests that being able to use our secondary is a reasonable answer to the way AVs and PvP works right now.

    To me this is somewhat of principle of the matter issue, which doesn't bode well for me since I tend to care more about the principle than a realistic solution.

    To me the principle, in this little situation, is that the devs created this AT, knowing the issues they themselves have with the Control primaries, then balanced is as if the game mechanics that are acceptable for Controllers do not exist. Those game mechanics totally wreck the already unbalanced Dominator AT....add into it that the Devs are cryptic and glacially slow to do anyting about it and it infuriates me.
  17. I can see where your point of view comes from, but I still think that more damage and hp will both help our performance was well as image in the community.

    You can add all the great bonuses to Domination that you want, but with our low health there are situations, like PvP, in which we will always have an unfairly difficult time getting it built up.

    There is a balance between health/protection and damage. If you are going to have high healt and protection, then you can afford to have low damage. High damage can afford you low health/protection...but for dominators, especially considering the Game Mechanics surrounding control sets, you get both low ends. Both!

    So since the devs don't seem inclined to realize that their game mechanics are sloppy and unimaginative answers to keeping mezing from being overpowed, then I would like to have my other forms of balanced increased. More hp and more damage. Especially melee...we should be absolute terrors in melee considering everything we have going against us in that situation.

    I don't understand this mindset...THE GAME MECHANICS THAT NUKE CONTROL ARE STUPID! YOU SHOULDN'T JUST ACCEPT IT UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO JUST QUIT THE GAME AL TOGETHER.

    No way we should just be happy to sit back and plink at the AV/Hero...no way. Not when every other AT gets to use their entire AT's abilites. No way.

    Been done, didnt change anything. Need more? Do you significanly contribute to teams if you use red inspirations, but dont when you dont use them? Its the same thing as a damage boost for the AT. My answer is, I dont see a 5% or 10% damage boost doing anything for us in teams, and making soloing a little easier, which is more than easy enough for me already.

    Makes you better on a team how, exactly? I have an accolade that gives me a 10% boost. Its made no difference. I have seen posts from others with a 15% or more boost, makes no difference (per their post). Unless we have a boost to allow us to take the alpha, I dont see this changing any complaints at all.

    I do think additional damage makes a difference. It makes a difference to me for sure, and I am not sure how much more justificiation I need than that, let alone remark on how this would help in PvP.

    More HP, well, I would be less of a liability to my team if I wasn't so easy to drop for high damage dealers in PvE and PvP.

    The Mez protection that is coming is going to be nice, except for the fact that you are still so light in health that you can be easily killed by the things you need protected from the most. AVs, EBs, and PvP toons can still 2 and 3 shot you dispite your mez protection....and you are expected to go into melee with them...there is where your additional damage and health would definitely make a difference.

    Sounds like your starting to come around to the way of the Dom...If most of us hated our Doms, or the AT, then we wouldn't be hear discussing it and wasting our time playing it. But we all love our Doms, but just want to see the AT put on an even level with its peers.

    There's degrees to everything. I don't think corruptors are nearly as bad as controllers as far as min/maxing goes.

    True, but some of the Corruptor sets only need the PPP to get a pet, they can do the rest on their own.

    My point was that just like a Controller, a half way decently built Corruptor with many of the sets in the AT can do well at just about all aspects of the game. The only other AT in CoV that comes close to that are certain MMs, and of course Controllers on the CoH side.

    Regardless, if the devs would either find a better way to handle mezing in game, or apply similar restrictions to buffs and debuffs (yes, I know this would be pretty hard on controllers, I am just speaking hypothetically), then things like AV fights would be a bit more even on contributions, or at least the ridiculousness of how Doms are gimped in those situations would become more obvious to a wider variety of players.

    yup. it's the artificial limitations implimented by gamemechanics on mezzes. to keep it from being way overpowered...like (de)buffs are currently IMO.

    I totally agree. Mez's are too binary? Well, the gamemechanics instituted to deal with only make them more binary. A more imaginative solution needs to be come up with, and many on these boards have done just that, its up to the devs to make some change.

    Game Mechanics like Break Frees, Suppression and Purple Triangles were designed with Controllers in mind. Dominator secondaries were made with the control primary in mind, but applying game mechanics that were designed to deal with Controllers punishes Dominators in the extreme.
