ok, hope you guys have a good trip
We will hold the next offical match on Feb 18th, we should be able to get a few practices in and maybe a scrimmage as well.
If you are interested in participating in PvP Boot Camp2 send me a pm/post here. Things will be a little different, I'm hoping to have more then 2 teams and there will be a mixture of vet/graduate/novices on all the teams. -
Quick updates for everyone-
1) We will be shortening the leaque to 6 offical matches rather then 8.
2) We will be taking Feb 6th off, so we all can watch the big game.
The Freedom league will be starting the week after the super bowl (or so we are hoping), so this will be point at which we switch to Friday nights at 9pm est.
Originally, we planned on taking off the Sunday before Valentine's day (Feb 13th). However, we could move the next offical match to Feb 11th.
I personally would rather do this then have everyone wait almost a month before you all face off again. -
I'm out of characters who can get xp right now, and can't think of anything new to roll. I might do the same as GP and just earn prestige.
-
When we get closer I will post a sign up thread on these forums, honestly since you have shown interest I will most likely contact you via forum PM when we are getting closer to talk to you about what type of pvp role you would want to play: damage, debuff, buff, or disruption.
If you wanted to read over the threads on the Victory PvP University thread the link to it is in my sig and any specific pvp questions you might have you can post there and the Vet PvPers who have offered to help will answer the questions.
Appreciate the interest. -
Quote:How well does it perform? is it a game-changing IO in the same sense as the Numina and Miracle procs? does it make a noticeable difference in your toon? is it worth it? any additional anecdotes?
Thanks in advance for your helpful replies.
I have a few of them slotted in my toons. I put one in health on my /sr scrapper. It is a small heal 64hp or something around that. I like it, I wasn't able to get my regen up above 26 hp/sec on my SR (I went with leviathan mastery instead of body) so the tiny heals help me to keep my green bar full even with being hit 5% of the time.
I think the IO can be useful for defensive builds that lack a high regen rate or a self heal, like sr and shield. -
Round 1: P3 over PH 14-0
Round 2: P3 over PH 5-4
Round 3: P3 over PH 5-0
Its all tied up: 60-60. -
We are at match 4 of 8 at this moment- we will be taking breaks for the super bowl and valentine's day. I imagine that we will be done by the end of March and early April.
Boot Camp 2 is in the works! -
This weeks matches will be 6v6's (we will run 8v8's if both teams can field 8 players).
Rules:
1)Alpha slotting is allowed and recommended for this week's matches.
2) Matches will be set to SHW, with Heal Decay and Travel Suppression turned off, small inspirations only.
3) Any and all characters that a player has (on their global account) is eligible for this event, you are not limited to just the PvP U character you created. Stalkers will be limited to 2 per team per round.
4) All players must be played at least once.
5) The following maps are playable: Atlas, Steel, Skyway, Cargoship, Perez, (Added this week) Outbreak and Striga.
6) Resets on maps due to crashing/zoning errors/vent crashes are allowed once per round, per team, within the first 2 minutes of the match.
Points:
Win= 5 pts
Tie= 2 pt
Loss= 0 pts
Note: there will no longer be attendance pts.
Both teams will submit lineups via private tell to me, once both teams have submitted a lineup I will broadcast it and the teams will take turns listing the event and selecting the map.
We will have a coin toss to decide home team for this week's matches. Winner will select list and have map selection for the 1st match.
The second round will be listed by the other team and the third round will be listed by the home team but the map will be set to random.
Prizes this week:
Each team will bank 200 million per win, 125 million per tie and 50 million per loss. These funds will be divided up equally amongst the team members who show up for all 3 rounds (if you have to leave early or show up late, it will be up to your team captain as to if you will receive your portion of the funds). -
There was no other stalker, silly Monkey.
-
Sunday matches this week, it sounds as if the Freedom League will start up the Sunday after that Bowl that is Super. So we will move PvP Boot Camp to the Friday following the big game!
-
I thought it was my AS that made you cry.
-
I think I posted 9pm est (I will always put these messages in the MOTD as well).
-
Tonight- Thursday 1-20, I will be holding a practice (not an official one just an extra one). If you have time please come and participate. Also it looks like someone is running a Siren's Call pvp event tonight. So before/after practice lets try to get some action going on in Sirens!
-
Looks good, (confront ftw!). I have a km/elec that I need to finish slotting up.
-
Sounds good, I will try to be there (switching to whatever side needs more help). I was going to run a pvp practice tonight for Boot Camp so I will try to drag the 'troops' there after practice.
Thanks for organizing this. +5 Inquis. -
There were a few people who left early Sunday or were not able to make it to the 2v2. We talked afterwards about moving the time again for Boot Camp matches to Friday 9pm est. The reason for this move is the Freedom League will be starting up soon and Smallz, Philly, Rice, Seers and myself are all currently participating. Typically, matches are on Sunday at 8 or 9 pm est so none of us would be able to make it to the matches.
Please let me know if this time does not work for you, and we can try to find a time that works for everyone.
Also, we should have a few more people joining this season of PvP Boot Camp shortly, they will be a mix of new to pvp and some people who have PvP'd for a while now. So we may need to run more practices to help everyone work out the kinks of team PvP. -

What are your in-game Globals?: @Masque, @Masque2
What builds are your PvP characters on Freedom, or that you would be willing to move to Freedom?: Mind/FF, ss/elec brute, psi/em, grav/ta, emp/elec (maybe).
Are you willing to respec into a better PvP build?: Yes
Are you willing to roll a new character if needed?: Yep
Do you have a mic?: Yes
What is your general day/time availability?: My availability varies from week to week, depending, if I am on call at work. I'd say at best I'd be able to make 1/2 of the matches, and at worst 1/4 of them.
Briefly describe your PvP experience: Mostly zone, some arena, minimal league. -
1) Yes there would be interest.
2) Boot camp will be moving to Friday 9pm est (Sometime in the next month or so), Voodoo runs TFs on Tuesdays, Isolaters runs on Wednesdays, Hami raid is on Saturday, and Ship Raids are currently running on Sundays.
The biggest issue with Zone pvp is/has always been uneven sides. However, with the exemption rules and PvP rules things are also a lot different in zone then they used to be.
First off, you now get powers that you didn't have access too. For example in Sirens call instead of being capped at 30, now you get all your powers up to 35. It just changes the whole play style for that zone.
Warburg used to cap out before Epic powers, but now allows you to run the 1st epic power you pick. So stalkers can now AS then throw a shark, its pretty OP.
RV power-wise is the same (obviously) however, since post i13 changes, the NPCs are almost over powered in RV. Certainly the AV/Heroes are, if you have tried to kill them since the changes. All of your def/resist buffs are affected by DR however their damage output and mitagation are what they have always been.
Bloody Bay- has always been kind of a dog (and an ugly one at that) for PvP. I think the only PvP that ever went on in that zone was, stalkers hiding at pill boxes waiting for heroes to try to convert their ore. The zone is just too low level and without powers and decent travel powers it just isn't fun to pvp in.
Having said that, Warburg would be fun, in the sense that it is every man/team for themself, however, my vote would go to Sirens. -
Team re-balancing occurred with the trades of Ryxx, Sunny and Bambi to team PH in exchange for Vanum and Justaris. Also Chop will be joining team P3.
This would have made the teams even with each having 10 people, however, I just received a message today that NT will have to drop from PvP Boot Camp, due to RL issues. If things get sorted out he may be back and hopefully we will see him again soon.
Current Team Rosters:
P3
1) MP- (Spines/Regen) or (Rad/Psi)
2) Linarra(Grav/Ta)
3) Justaris (ill/emp)
4) Vanum(Psi/EM)
5) Medipow- (fire/em)
6) Bug Who?- (TA/arch)
7) Teh Pyro (Mind/Fire)
8) KungFu Yoshi (psi/em)
9) Smallz(Masque/Seers)
10) Chop (?/?)
PH
1) Elegost (Rad/Psi)
2) Gristlebone (Grav/Ta) or (Sonic/Pain)
3) Pimpstress Bambi (ill/emp)
4) Wac (Psi/Em)
5) Ryxx (Psi/Em)
6) Flux (Mind/Fire) (Psi/Em)
7) War Nugget- (Sonic/Pain)
8) SunnySprite- (Mind/Nrg)
9) Philly (Masque/Seers)
I have a few other people I can pull into this to keep the teams at a viable number of people. We have a person joining us from Virtue but he is only lvl 20ish and I need to help him finish getting to 50 before he can join us.
I'd actually like to do 1 of 2 things for this upcoming Sunday's Matches. I'd like to run a practice either Friday or Saturday so the new teams can practice together *or* I'd like to postpone this weeks matches. I am leaning towards an early practice just so we don't fall behind on the schedule.
Also I'd like to thank Nugget for posting his accolading event, that is awesome, and I'm sure everyone appreciates his offer to help get those +HP accolades.
Current scores:
PH- 60
P3- 45 -
Nothing to do with PvP, but I was bored and so I give you a screen shot.

First let me thank Rice for hosting this. If I am correct this was the largest payout for any event hosted on Victory. Not only did he pay out 3.5 billion inf, he also gave out 2 panacea end/heal IOs (valued about 1.2 billion), an Apoc valued at 500 million and a set of sleep purples vauled at ~500million.
I for one had a great time, I ended up being teamed with Vanum, me on my spines/regen and he was on a psi/em blaster.
Round 1: We faced off against Bambi and Nugget, Vanum and I didn't talk much strategy just that we would try to spike Nugget and if Bambi Absorbed Pain we would switch to her. Unfortunately, neither of us brought yellows and couldn't stay locked on Bambi when she did AP. Between her heals and Nugget's evasion we couldn't get a kill. After 7 and 1/2 minutes I coverted 9 reds into 3 yellows and went after Bambi. We were able to finally get a kill with only 70 secs left in the match and ended up getting one more before time expired.
Round 2: We faced off against Bug and Lin. Vanum and I talked and decided our best strategy would be to attack Bug and hope that we could catch Lin after he used Shared Pain. Bug kept me TK'd and grounded most of the match, but between Vanum and my damage output we were able to get a few kills and come out with a win.
Round 3: We had a bye round and watched what had to be one of the most 'interesting' matches of the night. Ele and Gris vs Bambi and Nugget. Ele and Gris both DC'd at the same time in the match. I have to give Bambi and Nugget credit for agreeing to a rematch rather then just taking a cheap win. In the restart, Ele and Gris again DC'd almost immediately after zoning into the arena map. 3rd time was the charm and Ele and Gris end up over powering Bambi and Nugget and moved on the semi's with the other two undefeated teams: Wac with Chop and Vanum with myself.
Semis- 2V2V2. Vanum and I talked during the last match and realized that our toughest opponent would most likely be Ele on Rad/Psi and Gris on Sonic/Pain. My acc is not the greatest and if Ele debuffed me I would be pretty much useless for most of the match. The both had self heals and Gris had buffs and heals as well. So we decided we needed to try to keep their kill count as low as possible and hopefully we could get into the finals against Wac and Chop. We started out the match as intended keeping the pressure on Ele and Gris, Chop was racking up some kills and I didn't see that Vanum had gotten spiked twice by the 6 minute mark. After checking the scores I realized we needed to shift into agressive mode and started to try to spike low HP targets and focusing more on getting kills then just being disruptive. When the smoke cleared I think we had a couple of kills more then Ele and Gris and ended up sneaking into the finals.
Finals!!!!!!
Psi/Em, Spines/Regen vs Psi/Em, Spines/Regen (wot!?). Vanum and I talked strategy again, and decided our best option was to red rush Wac and try to burn him out of greens early. Vanum only brought Greens and I only brought reds. Our strategy seemed to work very well, we got a quick kill on Wac and by the 5 min mark I think he was out of greens. I was taunting both of them anytime that Wac when down to pull aggro off of Vanum. We ened up getting a win and started to plan for round 2.
Round 2. I had agreed not to taunt the blaster the 2nd round, and Vanum and I decided to keep the same strategy as the 1st round. However, this time Wac and Chop got the jump on us and put Vanum down in the first 90 secs of the match. We quickly regrouped and had to play catch up. After missclicking taunt twice while targeting Wac I just moved it out of my power tray and played the rest of the match without that power. Vanum's careful insp usage and ability to lock on targets helped to lead us to a 2nd Victory over a very tough team.
I just want to say I had a blast being able to pvp and I was really impressed at how well people did in this event, I think everyone is progressing really well and I hope next Sunday we have more fun!
Thanks again Rice for hosting this. -
Quote:Yeehaw! Team Awesome was shooting up those blue electrolytes like they were nothing. Good times.
Got my Arch/Dev Blaster up to a Spiritual Radial Boost.
Next week's theme sounds fun. We'll see if I can make it or not.
It was pretty awesome for the assault team to finish 1st, all three of the rounds. In all fairness, we were oddly very short on scrappers, but those blues were going down fast.
Great job to everyone on team Awesome. -
Thanks again for running this Rice, this will certainly help people get the funds needed to slot up their pvp toons.
-
Well, this will take like 2 1/2 hours to run, so I thought it might be good to start it early.
