I've been following the news about the Clockwork and the Clockwork King on Praetorian Earth for some time now, and the news is...there is no news. As far as official information releases go so far, the Praetorian Clockwork are the creations of Raymond Keyes (who going on the so far established one-to-one relationship between Primal Earth and Praetorian counterparts) should be Anti-Matter the Praetorian counterpart of Positron.
Considering that Nemesis has kinda been 'written out' of Praetorian Earth (dying a humble toymaker) according to what we know at present, it's not too surprising that in the interests of making the new characters more fleshed out some of our old favourites have been cut from the team.
I'm absolutely certain though (read: this is just guesswork), that:
Praetorian Clockwork is PEOPLE! -
Excellent. I'll be playing through these arcs for sure. Only downside to this is having to read about it on GamePro's website. My eyes...they bleed! They need some serious layout work done.

Quote:Nice to see Techbot. *pokes the Tech guys for ya* On that matter, the desire of players to see the new shiny on their own toons has been noted by NCSoft. So maybe we'll get the shiny for our own selves later.Explanation was given. I've deleted the guff I posted before. Someone seemed to have overloaded the Rage.exe folder...
Hallowed; I get what you are saying, and I admit I was in the very wrong here. However, being patronising is a surefire way to *not* sort things out. You comments might not seem offensive to you, but they were to me. Make of that what you will. And, since the disabling of comments, I've not bothered with the rep feature on the boards anymore.
Hell, I'll give you some to balance it out
Either way; NPC or PC or w/e...Resistance armour is still shiny.
So...can we poke the tech guys to give Jay the tech to make even more shinies? -
*Glances around the thread* Huh.
As disappointing as having assumptions deflated that a certain costume set would be available to the playerbase, despite there being no claims made by NCSoft or their representatives that this would be the case, could certainly be for those who like the new shiny, I must say the reaction to the news by some people is even more disappointing.
To summarise, a screenie with a new costume is posted as a teaser for GR, some players assume that it will be available to players (despite no concrete evidence). When this assumption starts getting out of hand Sexy Jay comes in and with his own unimitatable style, tells y'all that he's gonna have to rain on your parade and if you have a problem with it it's your own fault. I have to agree with his assessment.
We will be able to see lots of shiny in GR, when release arrives, up until then everything else is supposition. Time to build a bridge and get over it! -
NPC Only, got it. I'll stand vigilant against the hordes of misquoters and misrememberers who will soon swear to all that's above that Sexy Jay said it was a costume set available to players.

Well, I'll join the crowd in questioning theOcho's use of the word juicy in his description, but it's nice to hear that we'll have new Guest Author arcs soon! Hickman, Hickman, Hickman, what, oh what, have you planned for us? Will there be a no-pants policy involved?
I look forward to playing these arcs and salute Dr. Aeon for getting the word out there about Mission Architect.
Edit: 1000th post, awesome! -
In case nobody noticed, Praetorian Hamidon has tentacles and claws now...bwah!?
"Likewise, Cole was too tough for the flailing tentacles and claws of the monster to do much to him other than swat him around."
Welcome to the world of Nuclear-Hami! -
Excellent information drop! Just enough to whet our appetites but not so much that everything is revealed. This was pretty much the scale of info that I think most people were baying for. Just a little something to get us speculating.
That new costume looks really nice, the tunnels look fascinating, very cool graphics. The background info on Tyrant was certainly enlightening, I think the biggest secret he has (as it wasn't included in the bio), might be the slaying of Stefan Richter at the Well of Furies. This would be the 'critical juncture' at which the story of his life differed from that of our Primal Earth Statesman. That's not to say that the rest of the world isn't vastly different also and looks to have multiple divergences from the world we're used to.
"Likewise, Cole was too tough for the flailing tentacles and claws of the monster to do much to him other than swat him around."
-The Age of Nuclear-Hami is upon us.
More of this sort of thing please! -
There's some information about Going Rogue news and an update of the personnel at Paragon Studios announced here. Looks like we'll be getting more GR info in the next few weeks and that regular info updates are a top priority for the team.
Essentially, we've been heard! Now, we wait, again. But not for too long! -
Gratz to those who've taken on new roles with bigger responsibilities, and more gratz to those new to the team! I'd also like to thank EMPulse and the community team for recognition that the playerbase is dead-keen on more Going Rogue info and the announcement that there will be more news soon.
Admittedly none of us likes 'soon' as a way of defining how long we'll have to wait, but 'in the coming weeks' gives us something to go on, as does the mention 'that regular status updates are a top priority'.
Congrats again to all those playing musical chairs at Paragon Studios and I look forward to getting some chunky real-meal sized info on GR in the near future. -
City Of Heroes - Hells Bells
Submitted for your consideration, a music tribute set in City Of Heroes' Paragon City. With evil on the rise, the undead encroaching ever closer, who will stem the tide?

There seem to be two distinct gripes with the marketing wing of this game that we all play and love;
1) Insufficient information releases regarding Going Rogue features / progress.
2) Inadequate or misdirected external marketing of the CoH product.
I've seen many complaints, have we got any suggestions that directly address either of these points? Aside from the rather simplistic, "Tell us Nao!" that we all feel, I've heard little in the way of constructive feedback.
Here are my two suggestions to address the issues above;
1) Regular scheduled info releases about Going Rogue. Announce that a one per week, or one per fortnight post will be made on the forums and an email sent to those who have opted in to recieve them with progress reports / teaser info. Link to this info through the game updater.
2) More advertising geared towards the mainstream market. Media could include cinema advertising before superhero movies, television ads (expensive, but it's all risk vs reward right?), or more advertising in the comic market, print ads in comic books, posters in comic stores / game stores.
What other suggestions do people have? -
Completely understandable BAB's. I suspect it's crunch time for GR and it's heads down, bums up, working hardcore to get it all sparkly before beta. Hope to see more of your witty and informed posts on the forum soon.

Gratz Lord Mayhem! Nice to see good arcs getting the recognition they deserve.

Quote:Sure could! The possibilities are endless.I think it'd be great for a TF in that case. Hey you got to this room with cool stuff and several un marked doors. Several of these doors lead to traps, only one leads to the goal\boss\way out etc. If a team successful defeats the traps, they get teleported back to that room and have to pick again. Could be fun.
-
The obvious thing to do is start your own group! It's not that hard, and you get say over things like team composition and missions / TF's / AE / radio. You can also find at your level if you sit outside Portal Corp in Peregrine Island you'll find lots of players about. Some servers are busier at certain times of day, also we've just been through a major holiday season so a lot of people wouldn't have been on their PC's / Macs much. Hope this helps!

This would be an excellent room to use via AE or Arena for implementation of branching storyline tech.
Choose your exit, pick a path.

Quote:Coz you care and are a genuinely nice human being who wants to support the company that supports the game that you do play? I'm gonna be checking my mailbox for the maildrop marketing material I requested, until then...Marketing hates us!Why in the Hell would I vote for other NC games?
games where the Marketing Department actually ADVERTISES those games?
Screw that. -
Proof Marketing hates us: No new Going Rogue news in, like, forever!
The role of Marketing in Paragon Studios does seem to be more one of Information Management/Concealment. Any long-termers will be able to tell you a story of the interplay between Positron and Ross "the Marketing guy". I know that the timed release of information to the public is a part of marketing but, by golly, it's not the only part!
Heck, I'm not doing anything much productive at the moment Ross, send me down some flyers and I'll start a mail drop around my city, internet cafes, universities, role-playing groups etc.
Oh, and you people and your cake / pie debate... we all know that all pastry-based treats are a lie, but did you know that Praetorian Clockwork is PEOPLE! -
Awesome response! But I'm on my bestest behaviour and bit my tongue. What you said is what I felt like saying, but didn't. Over the last few days since posting I've been looking at other people's list of IO set bonuses in-game and realise that if some of their lists are as long as my arm, then mine's only a short-sleeved Tee length. This is also probably why I'm not noticing any great difference between before and after.

I've voted, good luck Co*!
