1. Oh no, I'm not falling for trollish comments twice in a week! If you were serious, without intent to inflame then carry on, but I'll state nothing further.
2. I feel your pain BigBlue. I take it you play the game on the laptop's own built-in monitor? You don't have a multi-screen set-up or another monitor attached?

From memory Sony Vaio's have an application in the system tray to set output to single or multiple display, are these settings appropriately set to single display?
3. Ultimo: I've been soloing standard missions over the last few days on an Level 15-18 MM (good progress!), and also set to Heroic (level 1) Difficulty.

I haven't noticed any increase in difficulty or any mobs spawning at ludicrously high levels in relation to me. As is the case with bugs this does not show it's 'just you', but it does show that it's 'not everyone'.

What would I do? I'd be off to the Fateweaver or Field Analyst and change my difficulty setting up, exit the dialog box, then maybe even try to run a mission, then I'd return to them and lower my diff back down to Heroic and see if that makes the change apply.

Let us know what you find out.

Edit: My missions have been Contact missions, so I think I'll go fire up a newspaper mission and see if anything happens.

Edit 2: Nup, everything normal on redside newspaper missions for me as far as Difficulty goes. All I can think of is if you were on an AE team set at a higher diff, then you went straight on to your solo radio mission, there may be some code missing to reset your Difficulty to your characters setting.

Update graphics card drivers. If that doesn't work, update motherboard chipset/CPU driver. If that doesn't work...

Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines

Then post the results of these two programs:

[*]CoH Helper - it will show us basic computer settings and your CoH configuration.
[*]HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.

From experience I've also encountered a problem like this personally, and I found, much to my chagrin, that it was caused by a video driver update I'd done. The end result was that I rolled back to the previous version of the driver I was running and I was back in business.

I only mention it as a possibility for completenesses sake, if you haven't manually updated your video drivers just before the problem occurred (or even more unlikey still you've got some sort of video driver automatic updates on), this probably isn't the cause of your problem.

Also do you have Windows Updates set to automatic? If so, an overnight download of the Windows updates could theoretically be causing some form of incompatibility.

Edit: Oooo, just noticed I'm now "Super-Powered", nice.
5. My personal member of the Vanguard, The Purple Claw, made it his sole purpose to lead teams through the standard Levantra, Borea and other Vanguard contact missions. I realise the discussion is actually about the 'fastest' way to earn Vanguard Merits, but I found my method to be the 'best' for me, ie. MORE FUN!

Now you're a member of Vanguard, go kick some Rikti back to where they came from! Earth for Humans!
6. First thing I've thought of without knowing the specs is firewall settings. Make sure either Windows firewall or his installed firewall software is set to allow communications from CoHUpdater.exe.

Hope this helps!
7. *fires off application into the many and various tubes of the interweb hoping it lands safely at the screen of the appropriate individual at NCSoft / Paragon Studios.*

And now the waiting begins...

11. Personally I find it nice that this announcement has gone up lickety-split within a day of the problem being raised in the Going Rogue thread to be pretty darned responsive. Nice work TheOcho!

Is there a problem with the NCSoft mailing system? Are they trying to blame the customer? No. They would no doubt have checked their email systems and are just trying to make sure that the problem isn't at our end. Now I could have sworn they had the right email addy for me, and they did....on the forums, not on NCSoft Account Management. So, just because you 'know' your details are 'right' doesn't mean they actually aren't. Check anyways.
12. Nice. That's like levelling up! Gratz on the Redname.
13. Nice gift TargetDummy! I'm sure the whole team appreciated it a bunch. They certainly do deserve some treats after what I imagine has been a pretty stressful time pumping out the Mission Architect and dealing with the tidy-up.

What gives? And where can I go other than the Account Settings page to change what e-mail address the marketing department has?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd go through the update process anyways, seems to have worked for me, and maybe when you've changed it in the past from your Hotmail to GMail the change didn't 'stick', but this time it might, you'll know straight away if you receive the confirmation email in your GMail.

They suggest if that fails you contact Account Support: please read this linky.

Do you guys have it set up in your account management as cited here

[/ QUOTE ]

Yay! Thanks, that was my problem. I'd looked into this before but when people said, "check your profile", I checked my CoH Forum profile, not my NCSoft Account profile. For some reason I had an email address in there that I've almost never used and certainly don't use anymore. So I've updated that to my current email addy and verified it, I now eagerly await my invitation to Going Rogue beta.
16. I've got the right email address in my profile yet I never seem to get NCSoft / game emails. Yes, I've checked my Junk Mail folder.

*puts on sad kitty face* Mew.

Why are you so sure? There's a lot of extra paperwork and legal red tape involved in hiring foreign employees. Not to mention the relocation costs are higher. While I do hope Paragon Studios are an accommodating employer in this regard, there are plenty of practical reasons they might not be.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hence my question. Yep, there's a slew of paperwork, red tape, and I believe the rarer purple tape to go through. Considering that this obstacle may be more than a company needs to expend energy on given the current economic environment I thought it only prudent to ask the question before sending any application.

I flew over to the States for Hero Con '08 from New Zealand and have recently parted ways with my previous employer after 10 years (that's long enough for any one to have my soul ). So, yes, I'd be willing to relocate. The question is, would NCSoft / Paragon Studios, consider an applicant that would require the extra hoops to be jumped through?

I look forward to a reply from the team, if not forthcoming anytime soon (I know you're a busy bunch), I'll fire off my application regardless and it can be dealt with by HR appropriately.

The "experience required" flag is put onto job postings to limit the number of applicants who flat out would not qualify. It is not, however, a "hard" requirement -- if someone is sufficiently gifted and does very well on the various tests/interviews they can still be hired. It's happened before, it will happen again....but it is rare.

19. One point not mentioned so far as the Consignment House goes is that having the right recipe, salvage, SO, DO or IO or purple is not what is key to making lots of Influence.

Patience is the key. Shove something on the market for a price perhaps slightly higher than the other listed recent sales, then ... wait.

Minutes?
Hours?
Days?
Weeks?

Generally waiting days will garner a sale and return a satisfactory profit.
20. Well done to you Matt, and all the Devs, for the great work that is I14. Mission Architect v1 is a fantastic start. The degree of complexity available in enemy creation was certainly worth waiting for. The range of maps, the amount of dialogue that can be customised, it's all a creative super-hero type could ask for. Well, almost all.

That's why there will be a version two, and three and more hopefully adding new tools to the range already available to thousands of players. With this we'll have so much content available there won't be enough hours in the day to play it all, although many will try!

Gratz!

21. Nice name! This shows commitment to the game and feels like a much better fit than NC2. Looking forward to all that Paragon Studios has planned for the future.

Why not do the other thing the MA is good for - playing arcs instead of creating new ones?

Eco.

So often overlooked, thousands of new missions to play overnight! Some good, some bad, some absolutely fantastic, it's a grab bag of new content for anyone to play, whether they're interested in publishing or not.

23. <QR> I think the rating system should be taken less seriously by many people. I'm sure it'd be nice to get into the Hall of Fame but should it be considered the end of the world if the odds are heinously against it? No.

Three slots is plenty for me at present and if I ever get more arcs that I want to publish I intend to rotate them, so having my current arcs published and my others ready to replace them when I choose. You can bet dollars for donuts that it's completely intended to sell arc slots further down the way. It's just good business, and a model used by NCSoft previously (character slots for example).

I enjoy rating others' missions, and feedback is a good way to improve the overall quality of the arcs available.
24. This is the best video for the game I've seen yet. Nice promo material to be sure!

Loving Mission Architect!
