The latest mission was "Kidnap Dr. Westway" from the Ambassador Kuhr'Rekt Revenge arc. The Longbow Ballista at the end annihilated me. I have beaten them before but never had the "Only Affecting Self" status (and they're hard enough without that). Maybe he wasn't hurting me when I was out of phase and I just thought it was my healing powers at work.

Anyway, I finally managed to beat him before reading your reply by running away like a little girl when I was "Only Affecting Self" and waiting for it to wear off. He followed me but the other mobs didn't, which made it a little easier. I think I had maybe 2 HPs left when he finally went down.

Thank you for your help, though! I'll make sure to pack some purples before trying the other mission that I failed at.

I haven't played in quite some time and decided to come back and check out the changes to see if I want to subscribe again.

I've come across two different missions now where I can't defeat the elite bosses due to them putting me in a status effect that reads "Only Affecting Self", where I can move around and use Inspirations but can't attack. This is on a Stalker with the Integration and Resilience powers active. Break-Free doesn't work, either. The effect lasts a very long time and makes it impossible to survive despite numerous self-healing powers, even on the lowest difficulty setting. Dull Pain and Reconstruction wear off and then I'm toast.

My questions are: What the heck causes this status effect? Is there a way to avoid it? Is it now impossible to play solo outside of broker missions?

Why?

You know there are some very good guides out there that people have taken a lot of time and work to write.
They post them in the guides section because this section unlike many of the others is never purged, so that other will always have the benefit of there hard work and true love of this game.
It’s posts like this that cheeping all of their work and colluder up the guides section with meaningless worthless garbage, if this is a joke post a sad attempt to be funny or an attempt to point out the obvious it should have been posted in the general forums where it could quickly be forgotten.

While the kill may take one AS blow, the process of setting it up takes far longer, and may involve extreme danger and frustration on the part of the stalker. Finally, any team of two smart Heroes can eat any stalker for lunch.

See, that's the thing. "Smart" may a standard that is too high. It seems that some folks just want to mash buttons and look at the pretty pictures on the screen.

TP Foe was the first thing I thought of when I came across this thread so I am glad to see that it's getting its due. It is one of the best powers in the game, and if you don't have it, get it and enhance the range as much as possible. Combine it with the Hover power and you can TP enemies beside you in the air and drop them, depleting 2/3 of their hit points or more. There is little chance of defeating an Elite Boss solo without pulling their guards, and this power will let you do it without getting the Boss's attention as long as the guard is slightly behind them. I thought TP Foe sounded lame at first, but after using it I now select this power at level 6 no matter what my archetype is.
