    Point X-Ray?

I'm working on the unveiler badge and as per the advice on this forum, I'm trying to get to point x-ray to finish off my fake nems badge. But I don't know my way around SS very well. Could someone please explain to me how to get to Point X-Ray?
  2. I have to admit a twinge of jealousy. Well done! WTH were you selling?
  3. Thank you for all the advice so far. I have 50s of every hero AT (close in villains), so I will adapt a more blastery(?) approach. This will (I think) mean combining my holds with more running and gunning, staying on the move more instead of rooted.

For what it's worth, on the challenge comments, I see my superheroes (and villains) much like the old school comic book ones. When fighting mere minions, whether the hero is at a power level like Batman or Spiderman or the Thing, I want to see my hero in a pack of ten to twenty mobs and shrug them off like the lowly minions they are. That feels comic-booky to me.

I'm not implying in anyway that the suggested dominator approaches here could not do that, I just was inexperienced enough with doms that felt I was doing something wrong (I was) and needed advice.
  4. I feel like I'm walking a minefield, but here goes my two cents:

If I find something genuinely broken that allows for an exploit, I'll report it as a bug. (Example: in Terra Volta, there used to be large packs of mobs that would not retaliate if you attacked them).

If I find someone repeatedly using harsh swearing in public channels, I'll report 'em.

If I find someone in an obvious homage character, I'll pm them that they may want to reconsider, as it is likely their character will be modified by the devs, but I do not report it.

    Right/wrong, that's what I do, anyway.
  5. Like most everyone else who plays, everytime I log in, I have several influence for real cash emails. I always delete them, but I do keep an eye on the price, just as a way of seeing how the RMT'ers are doing.

It wasn't that long ago that a billion influence was around a hundred bucks. Now it's down below $30, and keeps dropping. I read this as a good sign, in that the RMT'ers are getting more and more desperate to sell.

Also, with today's AE farming being so lucrative, it's easier than ever to earn large piles of influence, so I can't understand why ppl would bother buying it. I'm looking forward to a day when these money sellers are gone from the game.
  6. As a longtime player, I've spent most of my time blueside. This weekend, I got my dom to level 40 and something doesn't feel quite right when I solo.

My question is about the dominator approach. Should I be playing the character as a controller who blasts, or a blaster who controls? I have a fire/rad troller and a fire/dev blaster blueside who seem very capable. Even considering that my both are level 50 and well IO'd, my dom seems underpowered somehow. I'm pretty sure that dom's are not, so I'm wondering if it's my approach.

When on my troller, I waltz in, hit em with fire cages/flashfire and then just stand in the pack with hotfeet and choking cloud running and wait for the mobs to fall over. It seems I gotta work a lot harder to get a similar level of pwnage on my dom.

My dom is mostly IO'd (hard to keep up on dbl xp weekend), with at least one acc and one rech on most lockdown powers. Attacks in her secondary are standard 1 acc/3 dam.

    Any suggestions?

    BTW, my dom is fire/fire
  7. What server? You may be able to find some willing helpers here.
  8. Yep, I was unpleasantly surprised by this. I'd hope that at least for this weekend, people would leave the AE. Guess it'll just be The Super Farm Powerlevelling Weekend.

    sigh
  9. First off, my appreciation for being so forthcoming with the information.

Could you speak specifically on what changes, if any, will be made to IO sets where +rech is either a set bonus or an actual buff in one of the enhancements of the set.
In other words, it kinda sucks if you've (I've) spent many millions on a purple set just for your pets only to find out that some of the buffs of that set, either bonuses or direct, are simply nullified, giving us nothing in return. At the very least, I think it would be fair to replace those buffs of that set with something roughly equivalent.
I'm eager to know if I should just dump the set now, or if compensating changes to it are in the pipeline.
  10. I know the details are not in place yet for exactly what can be bought with tickets. However, I think it would help a lot if you could just name one recipe that will be purchasable/attainable with tickets.

Q: Why are merits untradable/unsellable? All the rewards they're replacing had no such restrictions, why these? If they have to be untradable/unsellable, why aren't they account-based, rather than character-based? If you run more than a couple characters at a time, this will fragment your merit pools and dramatically reduce the value of the merits you earn. If its a reward for time played, why should the particular hero I play matter?

A: Merits were designed to represent an individual character’s accomplishments and time invested doing missions. Thus, untradeable and unsellable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

By doing this, you are simply creating a hassle for players and not achieving your intention. What this will do is force players to have only one character as the main 'merit achiever'. Then that character will hoard merits and when one of his alts needs a rare recipe, that character will buy it with merits and then trade it to that alt. This effectively creates an end-run around the untradeable merits goal, and forces a hassle upon the player.
In the end, the receiving alt character will get, with merits, something they did not earn, changing only what was handed over from one char to another.

As Moridin pointed out, to not have team stuff is to contradict the "multiplayer" part of MMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But this is my point! Why does multiplayer = team only and not team optional? Why? How is that better? Is that definition unchallengeable?

    [ QUOTE ]

Also, if you want to try a TF by yourself, you can ask for people to join up just so you can start it, then they can all quit. As long as you don't quit the TF, you can keep playing it by yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Except for a few builds, the AVs at the end of each TF (except Positron's) make soloing it impossible anyway. However, I have tried unsuccessfully three times to get teammates to help me start the first TF. Not one single response. /shrug

I have no problem with designing a mission to be done with a team in mind, or even making the mission very hard to complete without a team. But why is it mandatory? It just seems to me that this is an antiquated idea that some people feel is cast in stone. Why is this idea so unflexible? Why is the option to try it solo so wrong to some of you?

Here here! And while they're at it, they should put a combat mode in chess games so I can defend a spot because I can hit the button faster. And puzzles to solve before unlocking the next Porche in GT4. And a boss in URT2 that is defeated by doing something mechanically similar to DDR.
    [/sarcasm]
Sorry if it sounds like a flame, but you said you didn't want to hear the very thing which is the response to your complaint. That makes it hard to explain it to you when you refuse to hear it; maybe if it is painted it in a different color you'll see the point. You are on a Mulitplayer game and want all the options that go with playing a single-player game.
What I mean to say is exactly what you don't want to hear. Of coarse the capabilities of the coding team is not limited by the classification of the game. But the classification of the game does limit what should and should not be included. So because it is an MMO, there will be team-oriented, even restricted, events. This is not a non-connected game, it is meant, designed, and intended to be played with others. We can either accept and deal, or cancel our accounts and get a different game, it's up to the individual.

And by the by, I prefer soloing, belong to a SG and rarely team with them, and still get in TFs.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Let me clarify. The reason I said that I don't want to hear that is because, for me, that's not a reason, it's an excuse. I don't see how saying it's an MMO equates to 'you must team'. If this is part of the 'definition' of MMO, then I challenge the definition or the reasoning. Why is it that MMO means mandated team-only stuff? Where is this written in stone? See, what I don't get is why they can't have the option for people to team for those that prefer it, but not make it mandatory? Is more options a bad thing? Perhaps the designers of MMOs in general are worried that certain classes will not be invited to team? If so, then I say the design is flawed.
You say our only options are to accept and deal or don't play. Why? Why can't we challenge this (IMO) stagnant idea and design a game that allows for both?
I have teamed before. I usually find it enjoyable. But I hate having to team for any reason. I just like to play at my pace, and not at a pace dictated by the group in general. I have, many times, played the game for 12 hours or more in a row. But, despite having 2000+ hours invested in the game, I've done exactly one TF. It was the Synapse one, and I found it too long. I can't imagine trying the Positron one unless I were to solo it. Oh wait, I'm not allowed to because of some arbitrary game restriction. Yes, I know, in theory, you and all your fellow teammates can do it for a few hours and then agree to meet again the next day or something. Sure. And, in theory, communism works. Most of my (ahem) 24 toons are in SGs, and I rarely team with them, except for the (sigh) mandatory team missions I get; simultaneous clickies, or AVs. Why are so many against the idea of permitting the solo-only option? Saying "It's an MMO" is not a reason, it's an excuse.
  14. For myself, I'm not bothered that teams get more exp, or are able to do things that can't be done solo, etc. What bothers me about this game, is that I cannot even attempt parts of the game solo. I really do not understand this. Please do not tell me that "this is an MMO". So freakin' what? Team if you want to. If that gives you more fun, go for it. But please please please don't limit my options because I prefer soloing. I want to be able to at least try every single mission, trial and TF solo. I really am at a loss to comprehend why some people are so against permitting that option.

Well..it's much better than before..but STOP TRYING TO STOP POWERLEVELERS! umm..please Don't get me wrong this is much better..but nobody really cares about powerlevelers..

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do. If there were a way to make it so that PL'ing was utterly impossible, I would be all in favor of such.
  16. I don't know if anyone has mentioned it in this post, I didn't look through all 24 pages, but the late 5th column was the name of a rogue faction from the V series/movies.
  17. [ QUOTE ]
As fabulous as the conning colors are, we know not everyone can distinguish the differences between them. The arrows (up or down) are a redundant indicator so colorblind players can quicky tell how hard an enemiy will be.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Fantastic! Now can we please make the green numbers on the enhancements screen a much darker green? As it is, I have trouble distinguishing between it and the yellows. I know, I can do a little math and figure which is which, but it would be nice to tell at a glance, like non-colorblind people can.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
With the changes (which *still* haven't been done) to Test regarding minions and LTs, the plan is to leave Bosses, AVs, and Monsters in the "buffed" state. A boss, on live, is challenging to all (challenging includes difficulty and/or time to kill) except to most scrappers and quite a few blasters. Different levels and the inclusion of pets will change that for other ATs.

People *have* to understand that some ATs will be better at certain things and *should* be able to "[Censored]pwn" bosses ON THEIR OWN. Occasionally, this will include the same treatment for a couple of AVs (but not many). Buffing HP, regen, or damage on Bosses, just about guaranteeing that all ATs at any level need a team to take out a boss, is a weak and lazy approach. It hurts way more than anything. 1 boss *should* be basically on par with 1 hero (for most ATs). Some ATs, depending on skill of the player, will need help for that 1 boss. I think that balance is just about there like it is currently on Live.

Soloing AVs and Monsters is a *programming AI* problem....buffing HP, damage, or regen is the easy way out. Better AI and tactics would just about eliminate all ATs from soloing *any* AV or monster. AVs and monsters *should* need multiple heroes tackling the beasts. But drawn out fights because of huge HP and insane regen rates is not the answer.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is the most reasonable post I've seen on this topic.

Should you be able to solo everything? Maybe not.

Should you be able to solo every mission your contact assigns you? Yes. Every AT, every mission. Period.
  19. I haven't tried the Rikti monkeys yet, but I know I've killed around 40 embalmed and the bar for that badge hasn't budged.
  20. I have played this game every single day (save one I spent in hospital) since it came out. I have had fun every time I played. Until this weekend. Not only did you decide to put more spawns in missions, you decided to make more +1s. I have read that a lot of people are happy with this change, but I am not one of them. I don't want an increased challenge, nor do I wish to team. Ever. I liked the missions my blaster could do in 10 minutes or so. It's fine if some people want more challenge, don't take that from them, but please give us the slider ASAP. And when you do so, consider making it from -2 to +2, not 0 to +2. I know for my defenders/controllers my missions will be all blue.
I love to solo. Simply put, and I don't think I'm alone in this sentiment, if I can't solo my missions, I won't play.

I think the reason you get some controversy on this issue, is that people are choosing an odd definition for "forced".

If you are forced to group, it would mean that you could not solo for experience. You would have to group to advance at all.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm afraid I must disagree with your definition. I love this game, and will likely continue to play it unless they make some really bad changes, and I see nothing like that in the future. However, my definition of forced group play means that if I cannot experience ALL content as a soloer, then that missing content is forcing me to group. Not forced grouping to play the game, true, but forced if I want to experience it all. And making a comment like "deal with it" is hardly constructive and could be used for anything. Bombs are falling in your city, deal with it.
