  1. I'd just like to point out that -true- golden age is not nearly so happy shiny. A lot of people mix up gold and silver, and have golden age being portrayed as more silver aged. The original Batman was golden age - and he -killed- people.

Granted, it might still not be what the original poster is looking for, but its one of those misunderstandings that I feel the occasional need to rectify.

Golden age is pre-comics code. Heroes did kill, depending on the hero, anyway.
  2. I think that its wrong that something that was promised about vet powers is being broken. Of course, that's already happened with the booster packs, so why am I not surprised?

Its cool. I don't begrudge a cool benefit to playing the whole time. But its an unbalancing benefit. A lot of people started later - or started early, but couldn't always afford to play an MMO.

I'd be fine with the unlocking when the later powrs can be taken, but giving people free travel powers without taking the other powers, and at 6? Unbalancing.

Also, what's next? Stamina at level 6 for the 72 month? Without having to take health and swift or hurdle?

I think you guys are making a mistake. And instead of encouraging people, it might just leave you with nothing but the folks who've been able to afford to keep playing the entire time and started on day 1.
  3. I'd just like to say that I am VERY HAPPY wil at least 90% of the new sets. And the stuff I'm not happy about isn't on an AT I like.

I love that Tanks get Dark/Dark, that Scrappers get Fire/Fire. I love my dark/fire brute, and I look forward to having the option of making her on hero-side, as well as making my scranker firebird as a straight up scrapper, if I want to.

I love having plant as a controller set, and storm? I'm overjoyed about it being on two ATs that I like alot, v-side. Ice for Defenders? *bounces around*

While I'm unlikely to make a psi/mind blaster, I find it an interesting new set, and might look at it more fully, once its out and has stopped being fotm.

Seriously, I think both sides have gotten fleshed out a bit more, which is nice. And I'm more interested in V-side now, because my favorite power set is there, finally. And people need to stop complaining so much.

I'm sure that other things will be ported as soon as its possible, this is just the first run. I only think that it would have been nice to give MMs a second secondary, since they didn't get a primary.
  4. Before people get all impressed that they finally bumpmapped some female clothing options - male costumes have had the bump mapping for a very long time. In fact, its one of the things I remember requesting in the costume thread, along with a proper fluffy fox/wolf tail.

And bump mapping isn't that difficult to do, I've done it for at least two other games that I could mod [ Freedom Force and Sims 2 ] and it can sometimes be a little tricky, but its more a patience issue, not a difficulty issue.

I think the work is the best I've seen for costume options on females, though the fact they still haven't given us a actual long skirt is disappointing. The fact remains that if they want to sell me fluff, they need to make it cheaper to play per month.

And to repeat - I don't mind paying for actual game play options - costumes as extras on top of useful stuff, sure, its icing - but I didn't pay for GvE because of the nifty costume pieces. I paid for the jump pack and D teleport.
  5. I suppose if I hadn't been playing other games with minimal paid expansions and many, many free updates [ if its free to pay 15 a month ] I would be more impressed. If I'd just come from the SoE business model and games, yeah, I'd go, well, its just to support the game.

But other MMOS also give many free expansions, with the biggest updates being saved for paid stuff.

I had no problem paying for CoV - I didn't even have a problem paying for the GvE stuff - real powers are useful, and not just for RP.

But this is an mmoRPG and things specifically for RP shouldn't not be charged extra for, not when RP should be encouraged, not something you pay extra for. I could give examples of what another MMO is giving away for free tomorrow.
  6. Okay - yes, they are pretty costume pieces - but...

I play another game, called The sims 2, perhaps you've heard of it?

I'm a modder - I make high quality objects, and then make textures for them - I have made new eyes, again, high qaulity - I've made clothing and skins - a pita, but... - I do it for free. I share my work, and I also know exactly how much I can do, by myself, per hour. If they did this stuff with a full team? It can't have taken that much time to be worth even 3$ per person buying it. You have to take into account how much you pull in.

At 10, the profit margin must be obscene - yes, they will put it into make more things, but if people will pay for shinies, then it encourages....more charging for shinies.

Personally, I'd be fine with paying for something major - a new expansion with a bunch of new ATs and powersets for exsiting ATS - that I'd pay for, no sweat.

As for the wings? Unless things have changed, you can not have wings, or a cape with a trenchcoat. You can with a jacket, however.
  7. I would like to make an objection - I play an MMO that is one of the ones that the whole item mall concept comes from. However - the game itself is free, there is no monthly fee, and the item mall sells more for less money.

I realize that most everything in this game has been free, which is a sight better then some other MMOs *cough*soe*cough*, but most MMOS do mostly free updates now. The idea of an item mall is just groovy, _IF_ the monthly is less, and the mall prices are cheaper - or - if the monthly is gone completely - then 10 isn't so bad.

Also, as I've been led to believe, this is a limited time offer - which means those of us who might want it, but don't have the spare cash, might never get a chance at this.
  8. As someone who plays entirely concept characters, I hate this. Does Superman taunt his foes? No! In fact, most of the class heros archtypes that 'taunt' are anything but tanks. In fact I can only think of one right off the top of my head.

So, why should they make it to where a major advantage of an entire AT is to take the damage completely useless in a team?

Especially since they are trying to encourage teaming over soloing with the changes to AVs in the first place.

Beh - Cryptic needs to remember that there are other games out there. They upset enough players, all the wings and other sparklies will not keep them.
  9. Consider this signed. I'd love to be able to my little demoness right. I made her as a hero way back, but didn't have the right feet. Now she can have them, but has to be evil. She's not, just hedonistic, and after CoT
  10. I've done it twice. First time, it was to trade out powers I never used to get stamina, and I got superspeed, since I had hasten. The second time, it was to ditch hasten and superspeed because while more effective, it didn't fit my character concept.

Why are people using up all their Respec's in quick succession? The feature has been existant on the Live servers for less than 2 months and players have rebooted their builds 2 and 3 times? I Respec'd my character once to familiarize the process and swap out a power. I'm actually having buyer's remorse because he wasn't gimped originally by any means.
