Kali speaks the truth once more. Of course with red names saying crap like:
[Quote] Somebody also did the recall friend thing on one of the hero pillboxes, making it impossible for villains to take (a very <censored> thing to do IMHO.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

What do you expect from the playerbase?

Might as well say, "Hey, you suck for using our crap programming!" Very constructive.

    Quick, someone mod me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Okay.

The redname QUOTED that. They didn't say it.

ETA: ...I, um, messed up my quote tags the same way to illustrate the point! Yeah, that's it. *eyeshift*
  2. Congratulations, Positon, and happy birthday, CoH! *throws confetti!*

I'm really, really looking forward to seeing what the results of that poll turn into once you guys get done with it. I'm /dying/ for some more Story Stuff(tm) - the rockin' storyline is a big part of what keeps me here.
  3. Just my uninformed opinion, but I've always attributed a lot of the character-specific stuff in the EULA to translate to "We may run a contest that results in our putting your character in our monthly comic book, which we profit off of. You cannot sue us for that. You gave us permission to do this upon creating the character in the game (and reaffirmed the permission upon entering the contest)."

Most of my CoX characters are ones that I have played on MUSHes and have been drawing regularly for upwards of six years. Change the details. Tweak the look. And, should the opportunity ever come for me to profit from them, for God's sake, don't mention Paragon City or Arachnos or anything Cryptic and NCSoft created for this specific setting - change the costumes, change the circumstances, change the window dressing. Be original. That way, I /should/ be fine. Not too hard.

Let's say that Thors_Assassin got a book deal. If he wrote about TA as he appears in-game, he would be in trouble. But he could write about a man who serves/served as one of Thor's assassins if he changed the particulars so that it was not a carbon copy of what appears in-game.
  4. That diagram is my new wallpaper. I /need/ to see that every morning.
  5. Ooooh. My next commission is going to buy me that Hogarth book (with the Hands book, too). Thank you for pointing it out!

Just look at me! I think I'm doing pretty well in such a short time, I'm just afraid I'm gonna 'plateau' and not get much better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you want to avoid plateau-ing, DO NOT DO WHAT I DID. I plateaued for a while because I /stopped trying to improve/. I stopped working at it. I stopped challenging myself with different perspectives, different bodies, different subject matter - I've been drawing since I was six years old and I have yet to draw a background because I'm afraid to suck at it before I get good at it.

But you /need/ to suck at it before you get good at it. EVERYBODY sucked before they got good at it.

So, keep challenging yourself. When something gets easy, add something new to it to make it hard again. Given the time and the effort on your part, not just on drawing but on learning how to draw what you want to draw by studying anatomy, architecture, the clothing of ancient China, whatever it is you need to study, you will improve.

    Stuff I've drawn

Just a guess, but - a pretty common sketching and animation technique involves putting down your loose, base sketch in blue and then doing a tighter, more refined sketch over it in black (or whatever) using it as a guide. You can edit out the blue lines upon scanning /very/ easily.

I can't really see how 2 ranged attacks, an immobilize, and a pet help to plug up the holes in my Brute. I'd say I need something to increase fury generation and decrease downtime more (the main concerns for any Brute). Or, for something completely different, what about powers that use the Fury directly? Like a powerful attack that drains the Fury bar completely and stops Fury generation temporarily?

    [/ QUOTE ]

For /any/ brute? My /EA brute doesn't know what downtime /is/.

I like the power options being given, since.. well.. they're just that. Options. Noone's forced to take them, as far as I know, so if they won't help you out and some of the other power pools will, you can just do that instead. I know scads of heroes who've skipped on EPPs for similar reasons. I'll be signing on with Sirocco, personally - I like the character, he meshes with my concept, and the idea of my brute having ANOTHER attack to steal end from his foes makes me giggle in schoolgirlish delight.

That said, an uber-fury-draining attack would be fun. Possibly too much fun.

You just have to consider your choice before you make it. Shocking concept, I know. Kudos to the design guys who came up with this, I'm dying to get my grubby little paws on it!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cool. You stick with the permanent choice when either they change either your PPPs or some other power that synergized well with your choice of PPP (thus driving that choice). I'll stick with keeping my choices reversible - just like heroes can, and just like both heroes and villains can for every other pool choice in the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said. Consider your choices carefully.
  10. I like that the choices are permanent. I like that they come with story content geared towards the choice you make. I like that they will allow you to make an educated choice in-game without ever taking a look at the forums or Test Server if you don't want to.

  11. I genderbend all the time. Done it on MUSHes, done it tabletop, do it here. Why? Well, brace for babbling, I tend to go on a bit when the nostalgia train rolls into station. *sheepish*

I'm one of what guys consider to be the rarest of rare breeds - I'm a gamer chick. A geeky one, at that. Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Firefly - love them. Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Soul Calibur - kick my boyfriend's [censored] all the time. I like movies with things that blow up, and wish I had more kung fu flicks in my video cabinet.

Now, my first MMORPG was Star Wars Galaxies, right at launch. The first character I rolled was a female human marksman, on Bria. Even after years and years of MUSHing, I suppose because I did it so much with my boyfriend right there with me, I had never experienced what I did my very first day in SWG. Well.. not since my pre-broadband days on AOL, anyway. Waiting for a shuttle, big trandoshan guy wanders up, and starts hitting on me.

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

This happened at the next few shuttles I was stuck waiting for (different guys, thankfully - a virtual stalker would have been extremely creepy), so I nuked the poor marksman girl, and made a guy on Kettemoor instead. Never had the problem again. The first time I ever pointed out I was a girl at the keyboard was with a group of guys, RPing the formation of a shipping company, and one of them immediately said "Oh, crap, I guess I can't make dirty jokes anymore!" to which I told him a dead baby joke and all was well in the state of Theed once again. :> After a while, I eventually went back and got a female character to play with my RP buddies, and they were very good about laughing off the trandoshans at starports with me. Poor guys.

I guess it boils down to two things, for me, in terms of why I continue to play male characters. Deep down, it's always going to stem from a wish to just outright avoid the possible harassment I might be on the recieving end of if I played polygons with boobs. The poor (and sometimes downright creepy) experiences I've had in the past, both in games and in real life, will always impact my decision-making when I'm looking at a character creation screen and have to decide between male and female. If a character's concept can work just as well male as it could female, I'll probably go ahead and avoid the hassle.

I also like the male running animation a bit more.
