Quote:This is a number's game. NCSoft is on the ropes and making a bold play with GW2.Ok so our hopes fade away.
No way to save game, studio is gone for good, no way to release code, SOE or another publisher is not interested.
We are all doomed.
Dang it!
As stated in GH's other thread.. the game management is in discussions with high level entities within NCSoft. My bet? The game's producers are making a play at acquiring the game's rights and branching off as an independent studio.
I say its time we really make our voices heard by quite literally putting our money where our mouths are. If and when the call comes down, I'll gladly throw in most, if not all, of my annual tax return to their cause and would encourage others to consider doing the same.
Big companies like big money.. let's show them our's. It's not just a 'video game' here, people. It's a living, breathing community with life and fire in it worth saving. It's 80+ American jobs that are being salvaged. It's 80+ families that will rest easier.
So when that time comes, I hope most of you will join me in -really- making our voices heard.
They've showed us their's... Let's show them -our's-. -
Quote:Indeed, which is why I for one am willing to donate my upcoming tax return to whichever cause.. whether it be TonyV or the game's producers beginning a crowdsourcing effort. To put it in perspective, NCSoft bought the game and engine license from Cryptic for a sum of $10 million. If even 10,000 of us donate $1000 from our annual returns, that's a lot of capital right there.. possibly enough to buy the game.Unforunately, you're misreading the data - the figure of 9 million is the number of accounts that have been created in the entire 8 years the game has been running - and that figure also counts trial accounts.
The most players CoH has ever had was 200k+ around the launch of CoV.
Any donation plan is going to need quite a bit more than just 1 dollar per player.
Think of it as an investment into a hobby you love and saving 80+ American jobs, and truly showing our support to the Devs in a way unlike any other.
My best case scenario? The game Producers do crowdsourcing as well as investors to truly give this game and the studio a real fighting chance. -
Well, after having seen the 'Rocket Board' travel power oh so many times in action..
I sit here, and wonder to myself.. "It's about time we had some more diversity!"
And what is this I speak of?
HOGS.
CHOPPERS.
Let's see some motorcycles! I'd personally be more than happy to plunk down no small number of points for one of those, and know many others who would do the same!
I feel shamed whenever my Crom, with his biker chic, is made to take the public transport or even.. *gasp*.. -walk- to his destinations!
Harleys, Indians, and why not even a few Sport Bikes models if feasible! And for practicality's sakes, I'd say make them non-clippable so as to prevent 'blockades'!

Greetings fellow Virtue-ites!
I am here to inform you all of the preparation of our FIRST annual "Spring Fling Matchmaking!" event. This will be an RP'd, IC affair that will be broadcast on Paragon Public Broadcast Channel and the WSPDR station in the Isles.
The whole vibe of the event will be very familiar and in the vein of certain reality TV shows in the past, albeit with an edgy, prime-time vibe!
The Details
The 'Competition' will take place on Saturday, Feb 25th. at 8pm EST in Pocket D. Virtue server, obviously.
Prospective 'contestants' will be asked to line up neatly along the far right wall of the D (side without the base teleporter).
The purpose of the contest is to essentially pair up three contestants with three of the contest's 'mystery', but eligible bachelors!
The contest will be broken down into three separate 'costume' contests with their own unique theme based around the "Fling" theme! The contestants will be selected by a panel of judges and the "mystery bachelors" for each round of the competition, progressively narrowing down the winning contestants to just three contestants. The contestants will be asked a battery of prepared and improvised background/personality questions by the event's Host and Judges.
Once the winning contestants have been chosen for the final round, they will be awarded a "Dower" of over 500m inf.!
The Themes
Contest No.1: "First Date"
Contestants are encouraged to "dress to impress", just as they would on any other date in order to make an impression on both the Judges and Bachelors! Several contestants will be chosen from the pool of candidates and then asked a series of 'introductory' questions. Those who express the qualities, characteristics, and personalities that appeal most to the Bachelors will be graduated onto the second round of the competition!
Contest No.2: White Wedding
Your first date went well, and now it's the Wedding Day! Contestants are encouraged to wear clothing that closely fits the 'Wedding' theme of this round. Once more, they will be subjected to a battery of questions improvised by the Judging panel and Host of the event.
Contest No.3: Honeymoon
This is the last and final round of the competition! Those contestants who have progressed to this last round will once more be asked a series of questions pertaining to the theme of the event. Contestants are encouraged to dress accordingly for the theme. Think outside the box! This theme does not necessarily have to be confined to negligee or nightwear!
We look forward to a fun, entertaining event and hope to see you there! -
I'm still of the opinion that it'd be best if they simply allowed direct Account/Character transfers.. even Paid-For Transfers. It'd be a wonderful new revenue source, if even temporary while this server list merge occurs.

I don't think the -second- alternative would be overpowered at all.
At level 50, most of your important and relevant stats should be soft-capped regardless. That is, unless you're doing something wrong (such as not using IOs). The bonus from the Alpha abilities, after you factor in the soft-cap, are nominal.
Disabling ED? I wasn't around for the pre-ED days, but I can see how ridiculous it would be to have the capable of one-shotting other players and taking down AVs in a matter of minutes, solo.
And I'm glad they're bringing in more military aspects. A Naval Destroyer, huh? Now that's interesting.
As for Posse Commitatus.. Yes, it prevents traditional Military resources from participating in domestic -Policing-. An invasion of our home-soil from a foreign power, let alone Praetoria, would -require- an armed military response.
Even still, under the provisions of the act.. The US Coast Guard is exempt. Not to mention the Dept. of Homeland Security. -
This is just a few ideas I've had stewing around in my head for awhile, so please indulge me as I nerd-gush onto these boards!
- The Military
We have the Paragon Police Department, with their state of the art technology. Mechanized Suits. Robotic War Machines. Enough manpower and firepower to take control of a small continent. And this is just -one- Metropolitan Police Dept.. albeit an especially well funded one to be sure.
So then.. where is the Military? The Army? Navy? Air Force? Marines? Hell, even the Coast Guard!
Surely the Nation's Armed Forces aren't content to leave ALL of the responsibility of safeguarding Rhode Island's soil to a mass assortment of Metahumans and a lowly Police Department?
I can't recall seeing any NPC or mob in the game remotely related to any military branch.
So what I was thinking is.. more 'militaristic' themes. We already have some assets in-game. The Longbow helicopters.. the Vanguard Tanks.. could be a simple matter of simply re-skinning them. The true difficulty would be in adding in attack powers and animations, however. But I'd -LOVE- to see this and hardly think I'm alone. You could even use the Mastermind Animation and animate Marines rappelling from some of the animated helicopters in-game.
- Alpha Slot Abilities
I thought of this after finally achieving my Tier 4 Cardiac Slot. What if we were to be given a reward for slotting -every- tier slot of all four branches?
Perhaps we could effectively disable ED for our toons? That may be too extreme, but a reward I'm sure -everyone- playing the game would be actively working towards achieving.
Or the more reasonable route.. Allowing all four of the Alpha slot abilities to be active simultaneously? All four Tier 4 slots going in-tandem, with no need to switch them out?
/nerdgush complete.
