Or maybe the rundown was stopping before the version he's using?
-
Seems like he missed a Doctor in his Doctor breakdown. I thought he must be using David Tennant for a moment because of it, but the bowtie and helmet comments say otherwise.

Quote:Ah, thankee. I think I might've known that already in a bygone age....They're all on the City of Heroes website. Here.

The story arc in question is a pretty good read, although Statesman comes off as a bit of an aloof jerk at the onset. He briefly shows a glimmer of 'being in touch' at the end, though.
For me, the only Phalanx member I really liked in the story was Citadel. -

Is it posted (legally) online? If not, it's unlikely that I will read it. For me, the game's story, such as it is, is defined within the game rather than by the City of Heroes 'Expanded Universe'.

It was in the previous teaser.

Quote:In the context of the game, the arc seems to have nothing to do with Statesman. Also, after doing it just now I realised that I have, in fact, done it before. And the best part was that Cyrus was still alive at the end of it despite the mission text stating otherwise.'Smoke and mirrors' is ironically, given that you replied to Troy Hickman in the process of replying to me, not fan fiction. It's a TF from Twlight's Son, here:

It's also one of the best portrayals of a positive Statesman you will get to read. As for my own work? Sure, that is fanfiction, but I made sure never to contradict canon for a moment (I challenge anyone to do find such a fault in my work) and I offered an explanation for his behavior.

Quote:True or not, that observation is contextually irrelevant to my point.Sorry but ALL of CoX lore is thinly disguised Marvel/DC fanfiction at best.
Ah, that was not clear to me. I certainly wouldn't be familiar with the comic, as I deemed it not worth pursuing beyond the one issue I read. I may seek out the arc in Ouroboros, though if the player takes the place of Statesman I suspect it won't alter my stated view of Statesman.Quote:Err, Smoke and Mirrors is not an AE guest author story. Smoke and Mirrors was originally a story arc in the Image Comics. It was canonically put into the game as an Ouroboros arc given by Twilight's Son. In the arc, the player takes the role Statesman himself played in the comic.
My interpretation of the arc is that the events of the comic book are canonical, but for a timeline that has been altered and Twilight Son intends to partially restore. "Canonical" is a bit slippery when it comes to Ouroboros and the Menders.
And in case it wasn't clear, I don't really hate the character. As I do with most of the signature NPCs in this game, I largely regard him with indifference. -
I could do it four times in a row on any given day without batting an eye. Although lately it has become inconvenient to do due to jerks pre-forming teams and ruining the convenience of the queue.

Quote:Fanfiction (and that's the best an AE story can hope to be) has never changed my view of canon. At best it would simply reinforce my given opinion that Statesman has the potential to be that guy.I would direct you to 'Smoke and Mirrors', then by Mr. Hickman. It may change your view.

You keep your hands to yourself!Quote:The allusion is to the old joke: "How do you get down from an elephant?" "You don't get down from an elephant...you get down from a duck!"
But if you want a goose, I'll oblige ya...

Quote:I can see Statesman having that sort of Superman-esque potential. But every time I've seen him he's come across more like Superman in Dark Knight Returns or in Kingdom Come. A Superman who has forgotten what Clark Kent is all about. To paraphrase the wonderful David Tennant in Doctor Who: 'I loved you. All that running around in a faceplate and a funny cape saving the world? I loved that. You know what, Statesman? You were my Statesman.' I'll happily link the mini-episode of the original which is such fun, because it's how I feel about my most beloved characters.

I'd really like to see it made impossible to queue for DFB while you're on a team...

I imagine that even if they do regret AE or PvP, for various reasons they wouldn't be able to publicly say so.

Quote:"Customer loyalty" basically meaning "the payment of cash monies". This was the case since their existence, it's just become ever more apparent with the ability to cut Father Time out of the picture. But I admit it's not exactly the same as just directly selling a badge, even if the principle is ultimately the same. These aren't directly sold, i.e.; you pay money directly for these badges and only these badges. It's an incidental effect of the PRP/Old vet rewards, which is rewarding customer loyalty.
Nor am I complaining about it. I might not even have noticed if not for the fact I'm bombarded with badge messages every time I make a new character.
