Body Armour is already available to Blasters, in the Weapons Mastery ancillary.
The thing is, Toughness/Damage is already built into the AT. Blasters do high damage all the time. Tankers are tough all the time. Any shortfalls are allowed to be patched up somewhat in the Epic pools, but adding anything extra to the powers themselves, or to the sets would take a lot of time to create, test, balance and so forth.
IMO at least, Dev time would be better spent giving us more options for sets on ATs, and on making things like power customisation feasible. -
The Chief sighed, leaning down to help the empath to his feet again.
"Quicker, maybe, but more risky," he chided quietly, "There is little point crippling yourself if the greater challenges are yet to come."
Resting the young man on the edge of the cars pounded bonnet, the Chief moved back around to see how the PPD officer was faring... -
This is not on...topi....
Wait...yes it is...
-rips out own eyeballs-
I may, whateverdeitymaybelistening help me, try WoW someday.
Someday. But I14 has got me really fired right now -

RotP (Rez) epic on blasters? Its like giving them a nuke when they dieNever actually seen it, but those numbers look tasty.
-
Aye. I know it might be a bit more work than a 'normal' weapon customisation, but even a choice between one or the other would be nice. Especially on one of my villains, those doomnannas look horrible. The Dominator spines look much better, at least IMO.
Options plz? -
The problem with elements in game as they are now, and this system, is that they dont quite lock together.
Fire and Cold both seem to be strong and weak against each other at the same time. Fire armours give some cold protection, while cold armours give some fire protection.
There is also the problem of balancing such things. If it wasnt kept closely monitored, you'd have Tankers, frexample, doing more damage than blaster in some circumstances.
Theres also the fact that sets based on smashing/lethal damage would need tweaking, or else be left out in the, heh, cold. Again, in some cases.
Overall, its not a 'bad' idea, per se, but it would be a lot of work to get to work not only 'right' but balanced too. Its better that the powersets and, more importantly, the Archetypes work in the way they should. -

There is nothing wrong with looking and learning, and maybe the Devs need to do a bit more looking at new ideas.

I can't think of anything in WoW that's new, so looking in there seems a bit of a waste. I just started playing again over there and I'm already bored because (oddly enough) playing levels 70-80 is strangely the same as playing levels 1-70 was. It's just more WoW. (The developers are obviously getting sued to the scene editors though, the interior models are getting more complex structurally, if not graphically.)
WoW is planning to introduce dual-builds with the next release (3.1)...
The chances of WoW getting anything remotely like the MA anytime soon are remote to say the least.

As you pass through the skyscrapers in Steel, there should be jump gangs of Outcasts, hovering Tsoo spirits, more than just blank buildings to traverse through.

I kind of think the flyers, who have to put up with slow speed to pay for safety, would hate this...
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I think I posted that late at night
Still, would be nice if there was some air 'scenery' y'know? Something to make the city seem more alive.
An airport?
But dont wear a cape if going near planes. We alllll know what happens there -
Darths FTW!
That aside, why cant they customise the 'weapons' on spines? Theres two distinct sets so far, Melee ones and the ones Doms use. A few added ones like Silver Mantis as well.
Agreed, I HATE the Bannanas of d00m -
An exploding rez.
It makes you laugh when you die, cos its like shooting the fueltank you're stood on top of
What they SHOULD change is the weapon redraw thats forced on using the heal power in Fire armour sets! -

One of them was me. Unsurprisingly, I was right.
The next time you think something terrible is going to happen, just feel free to ask me for your opinion instead, I'm happy to demonstrate common sense to you all again.

No, you can make as many as you want but can only publish 3 at a time.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I understand that, I'm saying it's the only downside.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agreed. 3 is a tad tight. Five would be nice, its the sort of de-facto standard 'baseline' number, normally.
That aside, this is SO juicy -

It is NCwest which is supposed to be overseeing the product in the Western world and last thing I heard Europe was still classified as 'The West'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry Mumsie. We're in the middle. We get twice as many enemies, and half the profits
On a more serious note, NC should at least consider doing SOME marketting. Hells, even google ads, for pity sake. I havent seen many DoW2 ads around, but I see one from time to time pop up in MSN sidebars or suchnot. Enough to catch my attention.
Having an actual boxset coming would be a worthy prescence, I think. More people know about MMOs in general, and are more likely to look around in games shops. I wont mention WoW, because Blizzard do have their own park to play in, let alone a court, but LoTR has boxes out, even the apparently awful AoC has boxes out, I've seen 'em! So why no CoX, which is arguably still a damned good MMO (I sure think so, as do many others from the looks of it). Yes, it might well cost a helluva lot. But people will look, people will ponder, if nothing else they'll go home and try a trial version. And then they may not buy the box, per se, not all. But they might well subscribe fully. And thats the whole point, right? -

Besides, paying for software sure as ain't cheap...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I use this: DAZ|Studio
It pretty much only does figure modelling, with some basic primitives like planes and spheres. If you want to produce characters like Ni then you'll need to pay for them, but the basic Victoria and Michael models are free from the same web site. You can also get free clothing, set dressing, and scenery models from various sites, though you'll have to fork over cash if you want really good quality materials.
As I've said before, and others have also said, it isn't so much talent, artistic know how, or skill that gets you good results, it's patience. (Though I think a grasp of anatomy and an appreciation for lighting helps.)

You might still be a goit, but you're an artistic one

I'm going to take that as a compliment, rather than firebombing your house.

The Chief clanked over, his armour shifting to blue and white once more, the air around him going light and clear, an aura of serenity in the grim, dark, tense confines of the alley.
"Stand back," he advised, his right palm glowing with what looked like a globe of pure white light, which was infact contained energy, infused with that of a Kheldian. Peacebringers, unlike thier warsahde counterparts, could heal at a pinch, much like what the Chief attempted now. Gently, he laid the globe on the mans chest, watching closely as it seemed to dissapitate and sink into his flesh... -

More History arcs! I wanna run with the Dawn Patrol, get some European Heroing inreading the background, they had some really cool sounding fights.
Fifth Column invasion, starring Atlas would also be ace. Gigantic Heroes ftw, or something -
Civil services need a huge upgrade, methinks...
Y'know, OT but hey, things Id love to see if CoX ever got an engine update that could handle it;
Realistic traffic and pedestrians.
Cop cars heading to emergencies
Fire Engines/Ambulances, etc.
Y'know, proper city life. Suggested before, I know, so back OT.
More mission variety is good. /Signed there, certainly. -
Well...
I like the later ones, as the face and general proportions seem to have become more realistic and suchnot over time and practice. Some very cool pieces there, looking forward to seeing more.
Out of artist mode; Damn you!-envy- I hope like crazy I can pull off some decent 3D stuff when I go to do Animation. Trying to learn this stuff on your own just hurts my brain. Besides, paying for software sure as ain't cheap...

See, this is the wonderful thing about text - it doesn't portray emotion too well. It also hides frustration and annoyance easily. If you are annoyed at a /tell asking you to join a team, all you have to do is reply with, "No thanks, I'm soloing" and add a smiley at the end. Simple.
Of course, getting six or seven /tells in less than 10 minutes can be irritating, but it doesn't take a second to send a stock reply. You can rant about your annoyances later.
[/ QUOTE ]
It works both ways though, if you get no reply within a reasonable length of time (say 60 seconds) just assume they're busy / AFK / Not interested and move on rather than getting upset about it. Assuming people are rude, ignorant or arrogant for not replying to a message from some random stranger is just odd.

I always feel sorry for the people who picked a fairly cool name but spelt it wrong. Like some poor soul in the Hollows who had "cheif" in their name last week.

-Surreptisiously checks his three characters with Chief in the name-
OT, Thoroughly decent little piece, simple enough for even the most block headed brute to grasp (And god knows theres a few) and...yeah, its good.
Although a bit cheeky, sneaking your own name in twice -
The Chief looked around as the small group of Heroes gathered around.
"Nothing much, so far," he said quietly, glancing at Alruna. "Spread out. See if anyone can find any more traces. Look for life signs, heat signatures, anything. But be careful. Vahziloks crowd of butchers are bound to be around somewhere...and you know the sort of company they keep." -
On a slightly serious note, it'd be nice if they could fix it so different weapon modles get different effects and sounds. Hitting someone with a baseball bat, only to produce sparks and a ripping metal sound is like...eh?
On topic; Fear the WarChicken! Bagawk! -
I think the lack of 'Sky scenery' is what makes it dull for those that have Fly,SJ or TP. Even when there is the odd flying enemy, thats about the limit.
As you pass through the skyscrapers in Steel, there should be jump gangs of Outcasts, hovering Tsoo spirits, more than just blank buildings to traverse through. Certain areas of the Hollows have floating rocks, which makes a nice change. Maybe rip up some more big chunks and pepper them around the Eastgate/CoT areas.
I havent played WoW except once or twice at a friends, and I agree that, visually, its a pretty snazzy game (Not as sure about the gameplay, and I did have quibbles with the sort of people that seemed to paly it -shrug- ) There is nothing wrong with looking and learning, and maybe the Devs need to do a bit more looking at new ideas.
They could even look at the suggestion thread, but that might be a bit of a long shot -
The Chief clanked after the grim trail, peering along its length. His metallic body glowed faintly, and then more brightly, the red plates shifting to sky blue, and the light became a brighter white, chasing the shadows into the corners, before he strode in. He held himself at ease as he walked, hands by his sides, but his head swung slightly from side to side, the glow behind the visor shifting as it took in every corner of the alley, looking for anything that was amiss...
