I once managed to get a net total of no result from those four. Two debuffs, and two buffs that negated the debuffs. Made me chuckle

Quote:Mine had 'amnesia' while he was in Paragon. The only one of the Epic ATs that makes any sense to start on the opposite side is the Warshade.
And they would actually be a Nictus, not a true Warshade.
i.e. he was still too weak after the trip to Earth to do anything about being in Paragon, so just played along and instead focussed on not getting his face beat
Now he's 50 redside and back to SCIENCE!! -

Yeah, that always struck me as weird and broken...

Quote:Where's that damn 'Like' button gone...?I like tankers as they are now, but even then I think the best change they could make is to remove the AT. It attracts too many entitled drama queens who believe they should be the star of the show and/or take themselves way too seriously - not just in this game either. I don't know what it is with certain people and tanks. Overcompensation maybe?

Quote:I'd still like to have the Arachnos costume in the AE CC, and I honestly don't understand why getting EATs in there is such a massive hurdle....We also still need the Kheldian Powersets and Arachnos soldier/widow sets.
No, the Keld sets don't need the form shift, we have novas and dwarfs as enemies, so we can make do. We don't need the Arachnos soldier/widow special costumes for the powersets, it's just that they have some cool powers I'd like to give some of my custom critters.
Other than, y'know, having left the AE to rot long ago? -
Quote:Eh, I actually think that's partially true. I'd differ with the parallels though. It's an issue that extends beyond the most resilient melee classes, why play a Blaster or Defender when there are Corruptors, or Stalkers when there are Scrappers, Trollers when there are Doms....
Why play a Corruptor when Blasters do better damage and Defenders buff more? But why play a Blaster when Scrappers etc. are as damaging and way more survivable? Why play a Blaster (a problem I've run into now, this one) when I can blast and blap just as much with a Dominator, and I get a mez shield AND I get mez and control?
I find it funny, though, how I've never got the Stalker/Scrapper comparisons that people keep bringing up. I find the two balance out pretty well and, ultimately, they are two takes on the same theme which let Players chose which they prefer, with Scrappers being maybe a bit more straight-forward while Stalkers do more burst damage and are a bit sneakier. I wouldn't say either is *better*, though. -
Quote:I don't have any objections that make Tanks a bit less slow solo.Brutes have the same survivability caps as Tankers. They are only shy 10% max HP of a Tanker at the caps.
Brutes have much higher damage caps than Tankers. Tankers aren't shy 10% of Brute damage at the cap, for AoE or ST.
If it's OK for Brutes to have potential for high survivability and high damage, it' would be OK for Tankers.
If it's NOT OK for Brutes, it shouldn't be allowed.
Allowing it for one AT and not the other, as the situation is now, is not in anyway fair. It's a blatant double standard.
You say Brutes are fine as they are.
So then you can not object to having the Tanker damage cap increased to bring them in line with Brutes. Because it's either that or gut Brute survivability.
.
HOWEVER; just because Brutes have the same res cap does NOT mean that they always reach it. Tankers get far, far better def/res numbers than Brutes do. It's beyond easy to S/L cap my Invul Tank without even touching IOs. I cannot say the same for Brutes.
I'm not going as far as some to say that Tanks are 'broken', because they still do what they are designed to do; the best def/res with moderate damage. That said, no, I would not be against QoL improvements to make them a bit more hitty, both teamed and solo, and for the devs to have another look at their numbers in comparison to other ATs. -
Quote:^ THIS! This ALL needs to happen! Thank feck I'm not the only one sick of that old dinosaur...Here's what I mean:
This is Tech Crey, Tech Wired and Techbot on a base, unaltered female model, and they conform to the female form perfectly. Whether that form is realistic or desirable isn't really the issue, but that's the "default" look Paragon Studios picked for women, and when used as textures over Tights, these armour sets look appropriate. Considering these seem to have been painted over a flat chest, they fit the female chest shape without too much distortion.
These seem to work well to me. Are they the problem?
These are the Tights version of Defence plus the Armoured version of Tech Wired with Large boots and gloves, as well as the Armoured version of Steampunk with Large Robotic boots and gloves, plus the Tech Banded boots since that set has no boots to go with it.
The Defence set looks pretty much identical to the previous screenshot. If anything, the alternate-fabric areas on the sides of the torso seem distorted in how they "ride up" over the breasts, whereas it's clear they were designed for men to sit on the sides of their chest. I imagine having a thick seam like that over the breast might chafe.
The other two are obviously somewhat ungainly, but that has less to do with the pieces being designed for men and more to do with the fact that the Armoured top and bottom geo is crap. If anything, comparing the female Armoured top to the Male armoured top will yield almost no similarities. Women have a much narrower waistline, where their Armoured tops actually meld into their model's lower abdomen and upper... Buttocks, whereas for men there's a very obvious jutting fold like like they're wearing a baggy shirt, which clips with pretty much every belt I've tried to use it with.
Speaking about the bottoms specifically, I want to point out that of all the textures you can use the Armoured bottom with, the old ones work the best, as they're designed to fit the geo shape. Tech Wired, Steampunk, Armour Plate and Medieval look AMAZING with that geo. Techbot, Valkyrie, Tech Sleek and the newer ones look like crap because their textures are just split wherever the armour mesh happens to jut out.
The Steampunk gloves ARE horrible, there's no question about that, but they're horrible less because of their bulbous model and more because their texture is hideous. Extremely low resolution for a texture that's supposed to convey a lot of fine detailing just results is a fine mess, and there are few better examples of this than Steampunk. We either need higher-resolution textures that can show the texture's details, or otherwise we need textures that try to show fewer fine details and concentrate on the larger ones.
When it comes to the shape of the female bottom and the Large Robotic gloves, this is likely crossing over into personal opinion, but... I personally like them. The gloves are easily my favourite in the game and I've used them repeatedly. The pants... They're a bit weird, but I like their shape and I plan to use them more often. I'm not sure if they're specifically feminine, possibly because I'm not sure we have a static definition of the term, but they're feminine enough to my eye.
Again, that's not to argue, but more trying to figure out exactly what you're referring to, and if it's something I'm not seeing or if we just disagree on the matter of aesthetics.
And yes, some HD texture re-passes are desperately needed... -
Changing Brutes, frankly, is a really stupid idea. Why? Because it's changes to another AT entirely, with it's own separate issues and balance stuff, and not actually working on the target AT, i.e. the Tank.
Brutes seem to function pretty well on their own right now. That's fine; leave them alone. Or else you'll just end up pissing off a whole other bunch of players and probably not actually 'fix' Tanks one bit.
It's Tanks that need looking at, so look at Tanks. -
Quote:I can;Considering that most of those NPC's are supposed to be normal people it makes RP sense that they can't run as fat as a super hero/villain. We are playing Meta Humans. We are vastly stronger, and faster than the average human so of course we can easily outdistance them.
And before anyone complains about not wanting RP in the game, this is an MMORPG. If you are gonna play an RPG your going to encounter RP in the game mechanics.
Pick them up and carry them
Give them a piggy back
Have a minion carry them over their shoulder
Drag them along in a force bubble
Teleport them with me
Turn them invisible and make them fly with me
Encase them in ice and use them as a weapon
Argument? Invalid.
It's shoddy NPC mechanics, just like it's always been, and it sucks. End of. -
They need to obey pet A.I., bad as it may be for MMs, because at least then they would keep up and eventually track you, rather than you having to play babysit for the brainless munchkins all the damn time.
This is the #1 reason why Escort missions suck. -
Eh....I like SS/WP on my Brute. He's actually the only Brute I can like, so far.
And I also love my Invul/Energy Tank to bits. What's that, an army of Romans, Talons and Monsters? Pfft, you lot wait here and make some more pottery, I've got this...
*Sound of slow but steady and painful carnage from the Valley*
Still, I wouldn't be adverse to any buffs they can give Tanks. -
Meh, I just don't remember the clicking-on issue or the whacky line-break problems before then.
Either way, though, the character-bio box NEEDS a gorramn fix, and it needed it last year. -
Quote:Because the CC is a fairly stable system that seems fairly straight forward. It's simply a case of making the models and parts (time and manpower) and then slotting them into the interface (as far as I can tell)I'm not sure how "digging around in 8 year old Fossil Code" is any different than "time and manpower"...
(And if it is fossil code, they've got no one to blame but themselves.)
The Base Editor is, by Dev accounts, a prehistoric mess of wild code and evil that could break as soon as someone breaths on it. And break stuff that has nothing to do with the Base Editor.
And they inherited it from Cryptic, so they aren't totally to blame -

Quote:The way I can best sum up my frustration with my MM;Then there's the Bruiser who always opens with a long activation time rock throw when he should be up close smashing. The arsonist, of course, runs right on in to the melee.
Imagine that you have six pets...and they are all Arsonists. -
Pretty much the same here. Tried two others to date. Both had terrible UI design, one was horrible for a new comer, the other was repetitively grindy even at low levels. It will be a very class act that finally pries me away from CoH.

Given how stupidly rarely they drop, I don't think a 1 shard = 1 thread conversion is unreasonable now. At least then they'd serve some useful purpose again.
