Crap double post if you are looking at the other thread as well. Rodent is officially captain, but this his first ever PvP event, and he is MIA with internet issues, so I am helping out with PR work for our team.
Neuronia, GGG would officially be facing us, if we can work it into the rules to have them skip us that would be great for now as the bigger concern is keeping our team together with varying schedules and RL issues
on another note someone with space please pick up garent or neuronia...we DO NOT want those two forming up on the same team :P -

Neuronia, these guys can skip ahead of us in terms of challenges if need be, Rodent(who is technically team captain) is without internet and may be MIA for a bit longer.
...and I am speaking for the team atm as this is Rodent's first PvP event and just trying to lend a hand while he is MIA... -

With changes to work schedule and Pie-ro being our alt and having a nasty schedule as well, I'm actually debating on dropping team for the remainder of the tourney to give Rodent ability to grab someone with a more forgiving schedule. My availability until September is iffy with work changes as I may be devoting more time to travel.
Rodent is MIA for at least a week, my schedule is iffy, Pie usually works evenings leaving. Tamer and FI to fend for themselves. If I can arrange some kind of random 2v2 or 3v3 would you be open to that? I hate teammates being sidelined due to crap scheduling and FI king has been BEGGING for more tail whoopings to help with his PvP experience.
I would also ask that teams hold off on challenging us this week until we can get our crap together. -

Let's face it gang a bigger PvP community on Pinn wouldn't hurt, and part of the reason that the test PvPers irritated the hell out of this group was due to the elitist mentality. Denying access to a community event falls in line with that mentality. Bring em in, be good sports, have some fun. -

Yeah communication with TWSS may be shot right now Pun is MIA with RL and I also have been MIA so not sure what the deal is with Cloud and Blu. I'll also try to have someone reach out to you to at least confirm the forfeit.
I have also been out of pocket with my team (Freakinasty) for about 2 weeks due to work and will most likely not be able to return for at least one more week due to work. I will attempt to find out status and follow up and get a challenge out there from our group if possible -

Rodent, Work is kicking in my hindquarters this week I will definitely be unavailable Wed 8/4 - Fri 8/6 and most likely not in game this week. I should be on Sat/Sun -

...and on another note. Our alternate "@Tesla Effect" is probably going to be worked out of the roster if possible(No show, and incredibly difficult to get a hold of him). Bringing on Pie was a stop-gap for this match, but his work schedule is going to place him in the "as needed" slot on the team. I understand that changes to the roster could be an issue and need to know what options there are.

Yes the 2nd match was 2-0 NWS scored a last second kill( I was the one that face planted :P)
Our team was responsible for some of the confusion. Rodent is brand new to PvP and the captain chair so multiple tells from him and I probably didn't help the situation any. We will sort that out amongst ourselves.

I would love to see us move to more or a regular season/playoffs format but I don't think we have the PvP community to get away with that. With that in mind I would only have a few unanswered questions.
1. Would changing to a different format help/hinder new PvP teams from entering?
2. Would changing to a different format give incentive for lower ranked teams to stay in the league?
The block out period for a league with open scheduling is not a bad idea for a regular season play, however I have seen this format go rapidly south in other recreational leagues outside of CoH. I would urge that if switching to this format the rules for auto-losses and rescheduling of set matches during the x month period are pretty clearly stated. The idea that your ranking can be tied into scheduling creates an opportunity for ducking matches to force wins and losses. This is especially true if there are multiple teams with early completed seasons. -

R/L stuff has been an issue...but why should him asking far a match on the day I posted several times would be the day that warpus would be leaving count as a reschedule? If you are going to try to reschedule something could it atlease make sense? Do I seem like I am over reacting....perhaps.....but if we are going to lengths to give several updates to have them go basically unnoticed and unresponded to....its a bit infuriating...especially if warpus is going to re-arange travel plans for that sort of thing to make it work.

Personally. I'm chalking this one up to RL crap on both sides, but this does present a hole in the communication process. Regardless of what the captains decide, I would recommend that a simplistic format be decided on perhaps:
Quoting the original post challenge post, and the responsibility of both captains to respond with either yay/nay on time/ and other RL issues happening. Every one here is pretty lax. RL crap happens(and often) and keeping the lines of communication open will help to avoid these misunderstandings in the future.
I will also try to aid rodent a bit more with these items. This is his First PvP event and first PvP team, so was pretty much letting him take lead. However if no one is hearing news from freakinasty feel free to look me up in game as well to help out.
As Facegrape is not available tonight we will probably take this opportunity t deal with the challenge to Team TWSS. We have discussed this option on vent and if that match occurs a member of TWSS will post on the boards to confirm. -

Unfortunately you can't accurately police this.
You could slot a build with frankenslotted Hamidon Origins, single Purple or PvP IOs and go from there.
The only real way this works is if you have a static team levelling together and use the honour system on slotting.
There was something like this in a PvPEC event and one of the players got +3 SOs for the level 5 battle, etc.
It's a good idea in theory, but a better one would be to have new people team with vets in kickballs and FFAs for pointers.

I would recommend a new toon as the investment you would have to make into a fire/ice build. would be pretty substantial, and it still will not have the output of much better power selections.
OK that being said. If you are hell bent on sticking with your favorite toon and don't mind the occasional faceplant:
First a disclaimer, I am hardly a PvP expert, but there are some bits of more or less tribal knowledge that may help you with a PvPish build for your toon
1. Limit your attacks. You don't need all of your attacks, but instead focus on a high damage single target attack chain.
2. You're a ranged toon stay at range if possible and MOVE. I would recommend a combo of SS/SJ(also because this opens up to acrobatics
3. Hibernate(Ice Mastery), Phase Shift, or Personal Force Field. Most(if not all) PvP builds have some sort of "oh-crap I'm about to die" power. In that list I would recommend Hibernate as you also have some other useful powers in the Ice mastery pool. I am not a big fan of PFF, but I'm sure there are plenty that would disagree
4. HP bonuses = good, but you don't have to go completely overboard. blasters hit HP cap fairly easily. -
I have been kicking around the idea of trying to get a Poor Man's FFA(or perhaps even league) together to help entice more of the PvE crowd in for some low impact PvP. Essentially we would limit toons to no set bonuses, or at the very least no ultimate bonuses. I am not sure of logistically how this would work, but it may help to get people involved that are not uber-pimping their builds. Any thoughts?
