I think in the last 3 years I have only had 1 person throw a fit like the post has shown, but I have had positive results from doing this. I am much more successful, then if I ask in broadcast. I have more jerks in broadcast than if I send a tell to lowbies, this is why I do it in that way.

What I don't get is that the person is calling the recruiter a jerk.... all he did was ask if they needed an SG, I usually ask if they would like to join, but that doesn't really matter, what I see as rude is that a person jumped down someones throat just for asking if they'd like to join.... How hard is it to just say No Thanks and be on your way? Is it necessary to cause unneeded Drama?
You get all kinds. A good number of people get spammed with blind sg invites, sg invite tells, blind group invites, group invite tells, etc ...

You're a telemarketer when you do that.

And if you haven't heard about the abuse a telemarketer takes for calling people ...

Nothing much would change. People in the game will ignore the forums, over half of them not even knowing they exist. People in the forums will continue to remain a vocal minority.

Consequences applied wholesale to the using playerbase would result in COHs already unstable outlook becoming even more unstable ... which means the originator and a few of the most abusive users may suffer, while everyone else goes about their business. You don't ban/punish a significant minority of your playerbase (say, worst case, 15%) unless you have customers to burn. COH doesn't have customers to burn what with its' income this year being rather lower than last year even with the paid expansion numbers ...

    Stuff.

You retired from this thread. That's nice. We can still discuss whatever we want to discuss within the context of the existing thread without your input. So, um, go away? The adults are talking.

Or it is someone, like, say, my teenager that isn't allowed to install programs on the computers used and has most of the internet under a blanket blacklist unless whitelisted site-by-site by an interfering parent. (I'm so mean. My kids agree, too.)

Restricted computer/internet access is not as uncommon as you might think.

Secondly, requesting builds generally eschews all conceptual considerations. If I've decided to create a build there are still some powers I'd like simply for thematic reasons. I, for example, like to have Flight for magical characters. Eventually, you may butt against the problem of performance vs. concept, but to me it's disheartening to see people throw concept out from the get-go.
Some people do concepts. (An angel with a sword.) Some people do entire biographies. (Look at our RP communities.) Some people just want performance. There is no badwrongfun, only different flavors that you may or may not like.

Personally, I want performance. I then wrap a concept around that performance, eventually an interlocking series of ficlets I share with my own social groups wrapped around that concept.

So, please, I implore anyone that plans to request a build. Put some effort and some thought into what you want before making a blanket request. You'll find people more receptive if you give them something to work with.
Agreed. The more you give, the more you get.
  7. There is another hero tip mission with the Knives that does that. Rescue NPC, NPC fights and thereby is killable, NPC dies every time in ambushes before you can get her out the door. Mission doesn't fail, doesn't complete ... nothing.

    Very frustrating.
  8. No other buff in the game requires you to say yes for it to take affect. The popup is obnoxious. Every other popup in the game I can either tell it to never show again or set an auto-accept option. If not, then make every buff in the game require a yes/no confirmation popup. This buff shouldn't be special.
  9. Maybe try something like this? (It is made of level 25 generic non-set IOs. Effectively SOs that never expire. Very cheap to make.)

Yes, and yes. No difference. The occasional (one of ten? one in fifteen? I've not been keeping an accurate count) zone changes and I disconnect. Most zone changes take minutes to be passed between zones (no-progress-bar screen to progress-bar screen) with the occasional faster exception.

  15. After a week of excessive disconnects and loading screen time, I figure I should ask for some assistance with how to reduce the problem. We "pause" on zoning at a loading screen (without a progress bar) for (up to) a few minutes at a time. About a tenth of the time we disconnect rather than connect to the new zone and its' loading screen (with a progress bar).

    Any assistance appreciated.

I agree. Especially with the civilian's super-strength ability to push around any and every player character or player character's pet.

Either that or, are you Level Pacted? If so, then it shouldnt matter anyway...
Because mayhem missions are boring when you do them back-to-back every three missions?

Because the cooperative mission option, when enabled, should work on mayhem missions? (And unless you share a broker/detective, it does not work for mayhem missions.)

Because its' not about the XP?

Because the GMs should have the ability to change game-assigned contacts when faced with a petition requesting said change? (And the GMs are the ones who told me to come here and request that power for them in response to my petition requesting a broker change to match my wife's character's broker?)

Because this game is all about options, all about choices, and this subsystem denies the player any choice at all? (Outside of simply not running newspaper or radio scanner missions at all.)

Because enabling this hurts no one? And keeping it as it is does hurt someone (me and mine) by, essentially, forcing us to run content in a manner we don't wish to?

I can keep listing reasons if you'd like. Can you come up with a coherent reason why we, the players, should be unable to have this game-assigned contact changed?
  18. The GMs are currently unable to change Broker or Detective contacts in response to a petition. The reason for petition is a [Bug] or [Unfriendly Gameplay] that disables cooperative mission completes as each mayhem mission is considered to be a different mission from all other missions and unique to each Broker or Detective.

So, I'm playing in a duo with my wife and we find that completing my bank robbery doesn't complete hers. We assume its' a bug. Do another set of bank robberies. Find out that it isn't a bug. Its' intentional. We petition support to have our brokers set to the same one, so that we can cooperatively complete the missions and not have to run them twice in a row just to keep the characters in sync. And they reply back that they don't have the power to make this change.

Either give us the ability to pick our Broker/Detective, or give the GMs the ability to change the Broker/Detective in response to a petition.

There is no way this can be abused (that I can think of).
  19. I would pay for, and consider a very good idea, the ability for a villain character to damage/defeat civilians in missions and in open zones. We can already target them. We can already attack them. We just can't damage them.

Setup a booster pack that enables me to do so on my villains, and I'll buy it.
