  1. If this is about BURCHEW, then it needs Deebles. 'Nuff said.

    Cosmetic Theft

The Talsorian sword being available for DB was a relatively new thing, compared to the Katana. Sorry your concept character was totally ruined by the game getting more options. Enjoy your 'superior-to-DualBlades-performance' Stalker.

    Costume Question

I believe that something /Rad is more iconic. Radiation Emission is one of those uniquely CoX powersets that you just won't find anywhere else. It's also very flashy and lends itself to themes well.

Runners up would be Storm Summoning and Earth Control, simply for how visual the sets are and how unique they are to CoX. I would say Kinetics, but it's not visual enough to represent itself well in screenshots or pictures.

    Feral Kat artz!

Mrrrr... I love it when Kat looks like she could legitimately kick the nuns out of whomever she runs into, instead of looking like a pinup model playing superhero. Vurry nice.

    This just in...

DA has changed many times over it's lifetime, but this is a giant step backwards. The space is improperly used, wasting TONS of extra space, the gallery viewing interface now has more complexity which makes finding the individual submission pages harder to find, the UI is *less* intuitive, information is now less apparent, and many other changes that either add too much complexity or ruin what was otherwise a good design.

I'm all for evolution, but this isn't a change for good.

The new DA changes are freaking horrible. Misused space anyone? News at 11.

I'm really digging that this is in a different style than you normally do. It's a lot more illustrative and hard lined.

Boy, if I knew that being confrontational would get me smut, then I wouldn't have held back all these years!

Yes, that was me holding back all this time.

He's welcome to come back into these parts, though if he does, I will be waiting. One of the things I least respect is not fighting the battles you initiate. TJ clubbed the bees' nest and then ran, knowing full well what would happen. If he gets stung because he came back for seconds, it'll be his own fault.

The only thing that I get from your postings, Manoa, is that you are by far a better person than he.

  15. All I'm getting is music. Where's the tied up people? I claim false advertising!
  16. There's not going to be a good consensus on this, as any number of different combinations is going to be great. Sonic/Kin will be awesome on a team, as would Rad/Cold or Dark/Storm. Anything you like that has some amount of debuff and buff will be fine. Some mez in addition to that would be even better.

Pick whatever you like the most from those sets, because being comfortable with your powers is going to make you a better player. And being a better player is going to help make you a better teammate.
  17. References sheets should contain what I need to know in order to do the job. As an artist, I already know how to pose a human and do various expressions. That's my job as an artist. What I need is details on your specific character, including outfit, skin type, hair, eyes, etc. Unless you have a need for a specific emotion and face that only your character can do, I don't really care.

If you want to give me a "mood sheet" or something in addition to the character sheet, that's fine. As the artist, I can always ignore details I don't need. Perhaps I can use them, but when I'm looking for reference, extraneous detail just adds complexity where I don't need it. A character sheet should have just the facts and nothing more.
  18. This is exactly why I go on and on about not using the deepest black for your outfits, people. You might think it's super kewl and awsum, but as an artist, it's ******* impossible to see any detail in the sea of ink your outfit becomes. Unless you're "The Living Shadow" or "Silhouette Woman" you don't want to use the deepest black.

If there's no detail at all to be had, then it's fine. The color choice itself isn't the issue, it's the fact that it ruins any sort of texture you introduce.

You know, I'm not sure anymore. Photoshop's noise filter changed a lot since I played around with it commonly. What I do as a get-around for stuff like that, is I make a separate file with a low DPI and large size, create the effect like that and then blow it up to the proper size. This never works with anything that requires detail, but with insubstantial things like light, rain and glowy stuff, you can get by in a pinch.

It still seems like a good idea to fill it with black even if there are no visual differences. When it is filled with black, if you change the blending mode to default it is very easy to check where you used glow brush.
Try running filters on your glow layer, abusing the hue and saturation tool, distorting it, etc. It's neat all the things you can do via photoshop, if you know how to run it.

Make a black layer, fill it with large pixels of noise, run a vertical motion blur on it. Set it to screen, instant rain. Then just 'erase' the areas where you don't want the rain with a black paintbrush.

Most artists don't play this game. Assume that they do not.

I guess it's a case of different strokes for different folks. Much as people's preferences in art styles differ, so do opinions.
When it comes to working with other people, there are guidelines you follow. These are not opinions. If you don't make the minimum amount of effort needed, the bad art you get will be your fault. I will personally laugh at you when you're unsatisfied with your commissioned works.

I've still seen no compelling reasons for going through the complicated process to get it made (and yes, dealing with a penciller, inker, colorist and possibly someone for corrections is a complicated process) and the cost involved so I'll just stick with what I have.

So that's basically, "I want help, Art Forum~!" "Get better refs." "Too much work, no." Nice.

Your current refs are too dark. It's very difficult to tell where the edges of the red flame and the blue costume is, because the colors are too saturate and they vibrate. It's very hard to get a look at the details of the outfit. The pictures are small and not conductive to showing me what I need to know in order to draw him. Your descriptions are confusing. 'Clear' in the logo means that the blue matches the rest of the outfit, it doesn't mean clear. Shiny, but not reflective? Confusing. You mean reflective, but not mirrored. The beard showing through his mask is totally absurd. How does that work? Is the mask painted on, or is it a fabric? How do his glasses attach to his mask? Is there really a hole for skin to show through in his mask, or do the glasses work into the mask flush?

There are a lot of things here that don't read well and are not clear. It's your job to communicate these details to the artist and you're not doing a good job of it right now. You don't need to spend big bucks on a character bible and turnaround, but you DO need to invest more effort into making your refs clear. You could likely find someone here on the art forum to help you out, if not even do a chara bible for you. For for the love of god, do *something* more than you are now.
