    Database issues

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but the database appears to be on it's way to going completely belly up.

A couple of issues so far:
Clicking on auction house and getting auction window for a different character

    Mission architect:
Custom villain group in an arc that has been published for months now showing as invalid when no changes have been made

Custom villain group from one unpublished arc appearing in a completely different arc in which they have not been included

Single mob from custom villain group that was working fine now showing as invalid. Unable to delete or rename mob as no matter which name is chosen ( even random letters ) it is rejected

All of these issues have started since the server downtime yesterday so if any DB changes were made something nasty has found it's way in there.
  2. I arrived back to try out the new stuff, although i19 sounds more interesting tbh. If anyone wants to look me up in game my global is @stuka september. Some may remember me. I am a little busy these days though so not on at regular times.
  3. Could be a driver problem actually. Clean out the old drivers and reinstall the latest ones. If that doesn't fix it then it's the card that needs replacing I'm afraid.

    Random Scenes

Not seen anything like that but could actually be down to a little latency from the server, dropped packets etc. It is the same type of thing that can happen with rubberbanding etc. which is also caused by dropped packets.

    Please help!

If you are getting coloured artifacts on the screen then your vid card is either overheating or faulty. Clean all the dust from the cards fan etc. and try it, if you still get problems then you need a new card.

Mate, any word in the English language could be put to numerous imaginative uses, the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Just games...everything else seems to be running fine.

I'm not 100% convinced it's the vid card either, that was the only crash that had a video anomaly like that one, so I figured I'd screencap it while I was still able to and bring it here to get feedback.
Unfortunately the fact that you are having problems with other games does point at the card. Try an oldish 2D game and see if you have problems with that, you shouldn't as they do not push the card very hard or make use of the 3D capabilities. The next step is to swap the card out for a known good one if you can get hold of one and see if it fixes the problem.

Buff them, and they'll once more know the answer to "Who's your daddy?" (or in other words you'll regain control). Or, pull something over towards them that will attack them. Once they take damage they are yours to control again.

As for the Profanity Filter, I'm on the US servers and I just logged into the game, turned my Profanity Filter back on and had someone type the phrase "I get my wood from a tree" in a global channel and it all came through as it should. I then asked them to "type something that WILL be filtered" and all I saw was the comic-y type swear symbols. So, apparently it isn't filtered on the US servers. If it's filtered on the EU servers it's apparently for some regional usage you aren't aware of, or the word "wood" was mistyped and it was a different word that was filtered. Although, I can't think of any that would trigger the filter that are spelled close to how wood is spelled.

Still, the Profanity Filter list has long been a joke as far as I was concerned, so I run with it off on all characters.
Try it in the mission architect. Create a custom character and put 'wood' in his description. The word 'naked' is also filtered in the architect.

    I'm going blind

alter smartdefrags settings, every day is way too often.

280 is a nice card, should take anything that CoH throws at it without even noticing. On the upside if it is faulty then it should still be under the manufacturers warranty, they are very rarely less than 3 years these days. To be honest though I am not convinced it's the card. When you updated the drivers did you make sure to get rid of anything left by the old ones as this can cause problems.

Next did you use the driver version previous to the current one for any length of time because they had a fault in the fan control commands which was causing peoples cards to get fried. The driver that had the problem was the 196.75 and if the card has been overheating because of them I would seriously consider contacting Nvidia as it was their fault but I don't know how far you would get with that.

Do you have problems with any other software?
  10. First of all you are defragging too often, this can actually damage the hard drive when done on a regular basis. You only need to defrag every three months or so. Secondly you haven't told us yet what type of graphics card you have, make / model. The problem that you are seeing could be down to slight overheating but I would expect to see more anomalies if this were the case. Coupled with the instability it points more to a memory issue, perhaps video memory. when the problem appears try to minimise the game and then open it up again as this forces a flush of the video memory; if the problem has gone away then that is what's wrong and you need a new card.

Another way to check the card is to simply run one of the newer games with top notch graphics and ramp all the settings to full detail, if anything is wrong with it then it should fail pretty quickly.

Next run a diagnostic on the hard drive to make sure that it's up to snuff.

The MoBo came with a nifty little utility that lets you monitor CPU and System temps. The weather has just gotten warmer here, but not quite warm enough yet for me to turn on my central A/C.

Tonight, my system was running a steady 40 deg C on the CPU and 47 deg C on the system itself. This is about 8-10 deg C higher than it HAS been running, but I attribute it to simply the change in the overall environmental temperature.

So what's too hot for a system? Am I cooking things? Should I run an actual external fan to just move the air volume around the case better, or is it time to go ahead and fire up the A/C? Thoughts? Thanks!
Your temperatures are fine and will cause no damage. If the cpu temp goes to about 65 degrees I would consider fitting a larger heatsink or a water cooler.

    Two small issues

Likely been mentioned before and if so I apologise for the duplication:

Mastermind pets: When following into, out of an instance or into another zone sometimes become detached from the MM's control. They still follow but do not appear on the pet list and cannot be commanded.

Profanity Filter: The word 'wood' is considered a profanity. Okay in the US 'got wood' has a different meaning than over here in Europe but really! In Europe the term 'a sturdy lump of wood' really does mean an actual tough piece of wood guys, it isn't a profanity
  13. This is a common problem with both Nvidia and ATI cards for which there is no real solution at the moment. The only help that I can give here is to 1st have a look at your system and make sure that you are 1) using certified memory for your motherboard 2) Using a good PSU with dual or more 12v rails 3) have adequate cooling for the vga cards and system.

If all the above are fine then try different driver versions until you find one that works for you. Nvidia, ATI, Microsoft etc. have all been working on this for awhile and while a solution ( new driver or windows update etc. ) works for some it makes other systems worse. As a last resort you could even try getting rid of vista and install XP instead.

    Graphics bug

Do a full uninstall of your drivers first, and then go in to safe mode and DELETE all *nv4*.* files from your PC. Then reboot to normal mode clean install your latest WHQL drivers. That should fix your crashing problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Done all that. The latest 175 drivers cause my PC to crash so I have to use the older 169.25 drivers. These however cause the game to crash at various intervals. Very frustrating.

No overclocking btw, PC & Graphics card are running at stock speeds.

    Graphics bug

Thx. A restart of the PC fixed it. Using vista 64 and I'm one of the many that has the problem with the Nvidia drivers crashing on occasion. Starting to think that one of my cards needs an RMA.

    Graphics bug

This just happened to the graphics while playing http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i6...7-19-33-51.jpg

All the game menus and windows are okay, it's just the character and playfield. Also shows like this on the character select screen, any ideas?
