If you're having to do hard boots you may have an issue with bad RAM. Do you have 3rd party RAM installed?
[/ QUOTE ]
Negative. All 4gigs were installed at the Genius bar the day I bought the machine. Again, only time I've ever had to hard boot is from CoH (And I do a lot of heavy rendering work from Vue and CD4 which eats resources so I know my machine should be able to handle one little game ;( )
Edit: Aww Amberyl. I used to live in Bethesda. Just seeing your location makes me miss home -
Cuppa, I know that you are in fact on the front lines of this situation and I appreciate it. Truth is that there's just a high level of frustration over this issue. I really can't bring myself to renew again at this point, much as Firestorm said.
There is no other program that I use that causes me to have to hard boot -ever- and to me this is a severe issue that should never have made it to live. I honestly hope this gets stabalized as I really do love this game. -
I don't like to come here and complain. I've been a player who's been coming back for the better part of 5 years (Originally started in the first month). I talk this game up as some of the best times I've had in an MMO.
When I found out that there would be a Mac Edition I was excited, signed up for the beta, reactivated my account and re-ordered.
When the Mac Edition went live I found a lot of crashing. I read through the forums, macro'd /reloadgfx and have been very careful to remember to do it -every- time I zone. Still. I know that about once an hour I am going to get disconnected unexpectedly and inexplicably.
Well, I've reached my limit. I was just trying to log in now and while loading in, my whole system froze. Couldn't get out, had to hard boot. This happens frequently enough to get me to the point that I almost want to uninstall. These are my specs:
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac8,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 6 MB
Memory: 4 GB
Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
Boot ROM Version: IM81.00C1.B00
I've got the 8800 GT 512 graphics card system and when I play games in boot camp I don't have any problems so I know it isn't a hardware config issue on my end. (I had to remove bootcamp to utilize the windows disc on another system or i'd just play there).
But at this point, why should I even bother? When is this going to be addressed? Cleary CoX is being marketed heavily to Mac users and I know from looking around this particular forum that I'm not the only one who is having this issue. Why am I paying 15 dollars a month only to have to crash over and over again.
I honestly appreciate CoX reaching out to the Mac community. Especially given how much I've loved this game. But make no mistake, I only came back because the game is now on Macs. I know that in the grand scheme it's only one $15- sub, but I'm very disheartened, and this is the first time I can truly say that about this game.
I really hope this gets sorted soon. -
Hi quick question! I pre-ordered the mac version but intend to play with my existing account (as you can see it's an old one). To use the Beta acct number I got, will I still be able to play with old acct in Beta? Or will I be forced into the new account even if I have the client.
Apologies if this has been answered, I read through the thread but may have missed it. -
Am I allowed to nominate the one Juggertha did of my character? It's self serving, but I love it...

I managed to do a comparison on level speed based on location.
One Saturday I created a new alt. Started her in Atlas Park. I reached level 5 after 2:20 (approx). I realized that I didn't like the color on my character and decided to reroll before things got too involved.
Second time out I hit Galaxy. I wanted to compare for comparison's sake because I was just irritated with Atlas. Time to level 5? 1:40. In neither instance did I do anything but play the game in a straightforward manner. Missions were closer and there was less round about getting to them. Finding available mobs on the street was easy. The broadcast had one total message. I didn't have to listen to spam about whatever lame Costume Contest was about to happen.
I prefer Galaxy in general but after having learned this, I will absolutely go there every time.
((I've tried this a few times since and it really does pan out)) -
Here is Cygne after a bit of Photoshop work.

Am I the only one who's offended here? After looking through all those screenshots, and seeing that women can adjust the size of their McGuffins, and yet we men don't get a slider to adjust our Package?
It's Sexism, I tell you!

Dude, face it... - there's only one place that slider would ever get set to
It'd be "City of Nureyev's" in no time whatsoever...

This will be great for those whose power is their magic lingam.

Yeah, before the Hollows showed up, once you finished out your contact in Atlas or Galaxy, you'd have about a level of street hunting (at about level 6), then get sent over to Perez Park for some "Kill 10 of X" mission (usually kill 10 CoT).
I remember getting my butt KICKED in Perez the first time I went in there. That forest maze used to scare the hell out of me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh yes, and all the uber 1337 kiddies were down by the lake hunting hydra.
Getting Hydra parties together was some of the best fun I'd had in this game. It generally went
Level 7-9 Hunt the periphery of the park Skuls!(tm) and Hellions.
Level 9-12 Tackle the maze
Level 12-14 Hydrabashing.
Now it works like this for me with an alt:
Level 7 - Go deafeat the 10x that are required to satisfy your first PP mission. Never come back until a mission that has nothing to do with hunting comes up because trying to find a group is like trying to get blood from a stone.
And actually even better was the AP to Skyway Sewer Run.
Levels 4-7 Could be done in two hours with a team of 5 By running to Skyway via the sewers, and then Sweeping back.
(probably still could if you took the time to snag some people off of the Hollows gate) -

I remember when I went to outbreak and looked for 20 minutes before I could find contaminated.
In these times, the contaminated didn't spawn very often.

Heheh, the way you wrote that makes me think it's because of all the dinosaurs who were roaming around eating them.

I remember the greatest sig I ever saw and how angry it made people (I think it was Nanigata's)
something like:
Lvl 50 Fire/Dev Blaster
Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Lvl 50 Spines/Regen Scrapper
Lvl 50 Fire/Kin Controller
LVl 50 Emp/Mind (which doesn't exist) -
I was really amused when fighting "Mass Def'" Whom I assumed is an Homage to Mos Def the Hip Hop artist.

Wuthering Heights was one saucy book.
Shakespeare was quite bawdy.
It's all in how you write it. -
There is one thing that I have always had an issue with in the leadership column, and that is that when you become the default leader simply because you are next in line. I don't mind being a leader, and when I create a group myself, I am fully prepared to fill the role and act accordingly, but some days I really just like to be the 'little scrapper that could' and follow the team to the next group of baddies.
This happened to me last night and I asked the group if someone else would please lead or at least take point, because I was kind of tired and really just trying to level up (we all have those days) which is not to say that I wasn't willing to support my team, I just didn't want the job of conning everything and typing out long decisions (when I am tired my typing starts to look like me was Englished very goodly if you know what I mean).
Anyway, long story short, yes I led, and we had no deaths, but there was no joy in it.
My long and drawn out point is, If you want to be a leader and you are in a group suggest that you would like to take the role for a try, I guarantee that unless you are completely spastic someone will give you the oppurtunity to prove your mettle.
