Quote:While I see where you're coming from concerning a religious perspective, haven't the incarnates pretty much been restricted to Greek Gods? Statesman to Zeus, Recluse to Tartarus, Stheno to Medusa and such?i dont think they would do it that way. far more likely(and less likely to tread on religious ad irreligious feelings) to make them incarnates of some broad sphere of primal power, like fire or energy or even an abstraction like the war or love. just would seem to be less likely to go too heavily against the grains for players.
Admittedly, Medusa isn't a god, but hey. -
Yeah, I'd guess late Autumn.
... what? Oh yeah, late 'Fall'. -
I'm guessing that it's like Doc says. We'll have our security level, and then our incarnate level. I'm guessing an advancement without actually boosting our stats in the same way a level-up does.

Quote:Oh, my apologies. You're several steps ahead of me.His idea that the late-game Praetorian arcs would be revamped a few months later I assume was based on the idea that Issue 19 would be coming a few months later. I was pointing out that that may not be quite the case.

Quote:While I perfectly understand from a coding/manpower perspective, I sort of have to shake my head at the fact that pre existing Praetorian content won't be updated until several months after GR. You'd think that would be the kind of thing that coincides such an update.Quote:Several months might be pushing it
Positron has been working on the endgame system for a while now, virtually all the time, leaving the bosswork to War Witch. I think it's just a case of "K, we want GR out 'here', well, we're not gonna have the whole of the endgame sorted out by then! Just put it in a post-expansion Issue a month or so later" The time between Issues is indeterminate.

Quote:It certianly sounds to me like behind the closed doors and hidden from the public, the Loyalists and Resistance are constantly at war, so I doubt they'll both be able to go everywhere unless undercover. I'm also expecting the underground to be quite big, perhaps like our sewer system. So it may not be as unbalanced as it sounds. Just less shiny.:S Four Praetorian zones. I doubt there's any kind of restriction on where people can go.
Quote:Why? There are zones in Praetoria. Incarnate is GR exclusive. Events that happen out in the open for everyone to take part in. I draw the conclusion that the zone events will be in Praetoria. -
Which is sorta what they were getting at. I18 would be the side-along issue, and i19 would be the bits that needed a little more time, and bringing the expansion level with the existing content.
Edit:
Glad to see it isn't just me. -
Quote:I suppose I can't argue with that. If the incarnate system turns out how I expect, then I'll just avoid it quietly.Currently they are both slightly weaker than a team of 8 "regular" supers. And we've all been using samples of their blood and Well of the Furies water to make our vaguely-defined "enhancements" for a while now. That ship has sailed already.

I think this is the Devs' reaction to the many, many 'KB sucks' threads.
Love from this player. -
Quote:Me? I'm a time-travelling genetic experiment. I ain't becoming an incarnate. That's why I'm hoping this system is related to incarnates without simply being 'become an incarnate. yay'. I can see why some people would want that, but in-game incarnates are currently meant to be the ultimate. If everyone's an incarnate, then just how powerful are Statesman and Recluse anymore? This idea is much better anyway. Really, who WASN'T going to make their first Incarnate just an "advanced" version of their favorite character?
If it is becoming an incarnate, then I'll be making a new character specifically to do so, but not using it on any of my existing characters. It may cause my namesake to not be maximum awesome, but he'll make more sense in my head.
Edit:
Quote:I believe that that quote was a mistake by the journalist reporting what was said as, on the website where the blog (or whatever it is called) was appearing there was an introduction saying that City was 6 years old and had had 6 free expansions and was soon to be getting a seventh. This makes me believe that it was originally going to launch with 16 but, due to an earlier error or a misconception it was reported incorrectly. -
I'd like to chime in with those who have /unsigned this.
Say for example a new player makes their first character; a tanker. They play up through the game and learn how things are done... as a tanker.
If they use this 'dual archtype' system to roll out a defender build, then I don't want to team with the defender who throws themselves into spawns, and then complains that their new build sucks.
No thanks. -
The issue with removing the war walls entirely would be that what we see of one war wall doesn't back directly onto the war wall on the other side. There's a lot of city in between what we know as city zones. I cannot remember if these buildings are residential or destroyed (I know they appear fine when you look through the war walls), but they'd have to add that in. Between all of the zones.
Also, I don't know where hazard zones fall in all of this. While war walls don't exist to contain them, we'd probably have to keep the solid part of the wall at least. It helps enforce who can get in and who can't.
I don't really know how I'd feel about the war walls coming down. It would be a big enough change to get some kind of opinion out of me, of course. But I've grown fond of them, and haven't ever seen the issue that other people seem to have with them. -
Quote:I'm one of the people that have prepurchased, but I'm more in agreement with Ravenswing here. I think that the people who don't prepurchase because they aren't really seeing the point in doing so are far less foolish than the people have bought it, and then complained that the devs 'made' them buy something before they knew what was in it.Quote:Also with all the info today....you'd be a fool to not pre purchase GR......jus sayin
The only reason to do so is if you want DP and/or DS early. It's a binary key online purchase. Prepurchase won't get you anything else faster. As far as I can tell anyway.
I just know that I'll almost certainly be very satisfied, regardless of what more is added to what we know. -
Quote:Avatar dating confirmed for issue 20?That was what *I* called my GOING ROGUE trailer... three months before the announcement of I-17's name. *holds her fingers up to her temples and chants* The videographer sees all and knows all.
And now I gotta remake my INCARNATE video. *sigh*
At least though this explains why the devs got irked with me when in my INCARNATE video, I initially had it labelled as "Issue 0: Incarnate". They told me to take the Issue thing off... but at the time, I didn't think to question why... it's coz we really WERE getting it as an issue!

I actually fully expected the Going Rogue side-along issue to be called Dark Mirror. Not only did it sound nice and fitting, but it was the name of the CoH comic that was all about the Praetorians.
Then they went and announced issue seventeen, so my idea's out of the window. -

I think that if it's extreme enough a revamp, it can practically be a new zone. I, for example, wouldn't be suprised if they update Boomtown to be the new Fifth Column HQ.
There's a mission in the 15-19 range your villain goes to the (now under reconstruction) Baumton. There're cranes and buildings going up, and all sorts. What with issue fifteen poking its head up more recently, I'm expecting the reconstruction to be under new management soon enough. I'm hoping for a Striga Isle-esque zone: a hazard zone, but with enough to do there it isn't ignored. -
When I read this, I thought you were onto something. Then I realised you seemed to be suggesting that people still need powerlevelling.
People don't need either. They can want as much as they want, but they certainly don't need. I've been around since issue four or so, and I'm still playing characters up at their own regular pace.
