Quote:Keeping in mind that you'll have to actually pay to unlock controllers in the first place, the battle maiden farm is great for that combo.Roll a fire/kin/stone controller. Works fine on just SO. Its the old school farmer

AIB doesn't cry. He spawns new Wells of Furies from his eyes.
The Hamidon stays in Eden because AIB is known to visit Founders Falls on occasion.
Rularuu cannot leave the Shadow Shard because he lost a bet to AIB over an arm wrestling match.
Darrin Wades initial plan was to steal AIB's power, but he abandoned that plan as impossible.
People wear sunglasses at night in an effort to emulate AIB.
Purple enhancements are actually deposits left by AIBs pets.
AIB isn't short. He adjusts your perception so you can feel better about yourself.

Quote:Haven't taken the human form AoE's in years. Never thought it was worth it, and it seemed counter-intuitive. The main draw of human form is for single target damage--and you get that from melee. Why, then, would you use a weaker version of your novas attacks to knock them away from you?Let me ask what you think of using the aoe blast instead of the singe target blast.
On strictly human-form PB's it might be different, but on a tri-form (especially with instant form change coming up) it would be a waste. -
Quote:That's ok for ticket farming. The problem is the person payin ~300mil is just going to afk and expects the whole map clearedQuote:Not necessarily. To me this is like organizing and starting a trial. All I want is a time frame, so I can wander around the house until the green button comes up. If I wanted someone to PL me while I am afk, all I'd want is to know how long until I need to be at the keyboard to exit and re-enter. If you say 30 minutes, then every 30 minutes I can come back, do the clicks, and then wander around again. If you say 20 minutes, that would work too. If you say 50 minutes, that would work too. Just knowing and honoring the time is what would be important, I'd think.
Now, if it was 300 over X amount of time, that would be something else. -
I personally don't like burnout much, the crash isn't really worth it unless there's some really awesome power you can stack by using it. Gang War, for example. Anyway, that's my opinion.
I've adjusted my build to get rid of pulsar--hasten is a second off from perma, but light form will still be perma. I also got your glinting eye, and kept gleaming blast too.

I find it interesting that this thread somehow went from sharing how many things your character could accomplish by itself to how dominators are better than blasters.
-
Quote:I don't know...there are a few options. I would have to look at what I could do, see if you could make up the 10% recharge somehow. The only things I can think of at the moment would lose you a bit of SL defense.Oh yeah, I defintely want help
I have enjoyed my kheld for a long time but recognized he needed an overhaul of sorts. What would you recommend other than pulsar?
You should do a guide on comparable IOs lol. I would never have thought to use Makos in place of Hecatomb. I absolutely love stupey though.
I'll pop it up in mids later and see if anything else jumps out at me.
I could look into detailing alternative IO's in my Mids' guide, at some point. -
Quote:I'm not a big fan of pulsar myself; I don't consider 2 mags of stun worth a 3 second animation time. If you don't like it much either, it can be switched out for another set with a good recharge bonus. It's all up to you.I'm not set on pulsar. Pulsar was an experiment in mitigation, much the same as I use hand clap. If an enemy is stunned they aren't hurting me, so pulsar was going to become, "I need an extra second for <insert power here> to recharge."
Quote:I like what you've done, although I only see one 4 pt knockback IO. I'm guessing with the perma eclipse and the knockback protection in it that it will become my primary knockback protection.
Quote:As for budget, I don't see me using PVP IOs or purples for a while so I would be looking to replace those in the short term. The reason I say that is because as long as I've been playing, I am just now 500 mil from having my first 2 billion inf. HOs aren't a problem because I'm on Justice and we raid anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week.
In the end, the build itself shouldn't be viewed as a "finished" product--rather, it's more of a template to work off of. Of course, if you have any other questions/etc, I'd be happy to help further. -
Ok, I tried to leave all of your power picks as is (because I didn't know how attached you were to certain ones, such as pulsar). You also didn't really give me a budget, so I tried to limit the purples. And, you still have very high SL defense (I see what you were going for there).
What I changed:
More recharge (perma hasten/Light Form, with the caveat that you take Agility/Spiritual alpha)
Better ST chain in human form
Better Nova attacks
With all that in mind, this is the direction I would go:

Quote:To answer this question specifically, though...In a perma lightform build today, If I'm playing and just hanging out and forget to hit light form occasionally, am I going to be face planting or is the build strong enough that permalightform is a option and not the norm?
People have gotten along without perma-lightform for all these years. If you got along fine without using it back then, you can do so now. They haven't changed anything on PB's that would make it less effective in surviving. -
If you are used to operating without it, then I suppose you'll be fine.
The thing is, it operates basically like Eclipse or Strength of Will in that you use it proactively to absorb alphas and such, as it isn't the automatic god mode that it used to be (that other tier 9's are). The only thing that separates it from the two is a relatively minor crash (it takes you down to half HP/endurance) as it expires. And since you have multiple self heals, it's generally not a problem. Not to mention it let's you drop your resistance toggle picks from the build if you so choose, so you can concentrate on slotting your attacks better.
The major boon in my opinion, however, is that in perma-ing it, you get what warshades don't--status protection. The recovery boost is also nice. -
Quote:I was curious as well. No, I don't mind. I remember permaunstoppable (cause I've been around forever, gone the last 2 years roughly before freedom, came back as a premium, and now i'm back on the boards
). The hatred of permaunstoppable turned into a hatred of perma(insertclickablepower). I want my guys to be able to stand on their own two feet without rely on the tier 9 "oh crap" powers. Having said that, I'm not against having that power setting my tray because sometimes it does hit the fan hard enough you want that boost.
On one hand, I completely disagree that building your character with enough recharge to perma lightform is "not standing on your own feet." It's a build choice, and frankly, it's a smart one. There is a small crash that is easy to deal with, and the power itself is weaker in effectiveness terms than, say, Unstoppable is. In fact, using it if you're in danger of dying is what would make it an "oh crap" power (which is what you intend to use it for, yes?), when in reality, you'd be using it proactively and leaving it on permanently. It can no longer be labeled as such, any more than Eclipse could.
On the other hand, this is your build, your play style, and your choice. And you are entitled to all three. -
Quote:Well, the thing is, your nova form is basically useless as is right now. If you were taking it to set mule stuff and planning on being human only, that would be one thing, but yeah--defense debuffs on your damage form? Not good.I was planning on spending most of my time in human but still wanted both forms. I know the build, despite the set totals, is bad. Slot placement is bad, etc. I just can't get my brain around the fix. Maybe I've been staring at it to long etc. Fresh set of eyes and all that.
Another thing is this--even if you don't like light form for whatever reason, you're going to want a lot more recharge in your build. Hasten, too, obviously. (I know some people dislike the glowing hands effect, don't know what to tell you if that's the case, aside from hiding it with auras and such.) Human form attacks are incredibly slow, and if you want to stick to that form mainly, you'll be sitting inactive a lot in between attacks.
Anyway, I can take a look at it later when I get to a computer with Mids', if no one else beats me to it. -
This always seems to happen to me:
You have been defeated.
You have earned Undying badge. -
There are several issues going on in this build, but let me ask the question that's nagging me the most:
Why did you gimp your nova attacks? -
Quote:Your argument is flawed. A babysitter doesn't get to walk away with anything but money. A person getting PL'd and gets refunded their money, however, gets to keep all the xp THB earned for them.Performing a service is not equivalent to selling merchandise.
If you hire a babysitter, and that babysitter not only shows up late, but does not mind the kids properly, invites unsolicited people over, endangering the children but also causes some sort of collateral damage in the process, that babysitter should not be expected to be paid.
Also, if that babysitter request I pay them regardless of the outcome of the duration of their services and request no responsibility for what happens up until they are paid, I would not hire that babysitter and would probably warn others from hiring them either as they are either performing illegal acts, stealing or exploiting their clients in some fashion. -
Quote:As his base designer, I've had plenty of opprotunities to see him in action as he prestige farmed. He's at least as fast as most of the SS/fire brutes I've seen in action. If you'd like, I can provide character witnesses ahead of time. My Legion of Doom will be in touch with you.
Granted, I don't go seeking farms much, but it's definitely fast. And it's the first time I've seen World of Confusion actually be useful. -
-
Getting back to the original question...
Only 300 million to work with? That might be a little difficult to work with, unless you have a reserve of reward/alignment merits and such. -
