  1. Support is finally taking me seriously. They said they would look into it. Here's hoping they get it sorted out. I want my stuff back!
  2. Whether the recipes were hidden was the first thing I checked.

Support has gotten back to me and said they are looking into it.
  3. I began with an Absolute Amazement, and a couple Mako's Bites.

I went to Wentworths. One of the Mako's Bites disappeared. I figured "oh well". I took up the recipes that I had bought. They too disappeared. The Absolute Amazement and one Mako's Bite still remained.

I did an ITF. At the end I checked my recipe inventory. The number at the bottom indicated 12/25. However, no recipes showed. Here's the screenshot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...screenshot.jpg

Logging off and back on did not fix it.

I submitted a petition. The response I got:

    Quote:
    Hello,

Thank you for your report. The Quality Assurance Team will be evaluating this report to determine a resolution for the issue. If this issue is confirmed as one that requires change, it will be placed on a list and prioritized along with any other issues that exist in the game.

Some high-priority issues are scheduled to be fixed within days or even hours of when the issue is first discovered. However, most issues take several weeks or months before a fix is designed, constructed, tested, and eventually passed into the live game environment. We hope you'll understand if you don't see a fix to your issue right away.

You can watch the City of Heroes/City of Villains message boards and website at http://www.cityofheroes.com or http://www.cityofvillains.com for any updates to when a fix will be implemented.

If you need direct assistance due to a mission or connection issue, please file a separate petition using the /petition command or Support menu option in-game. You can also create a ticket online by visiting http://help.ncsoft.com.

    Regards,

What the hell?! "We'll fix it someday" and no indication that I'll ever get my stuff back. Sure, I could buy the stuff again but what if this happens again? It's one thing to think "I'll just avoid Wentworths and trade player to player" it is another to know the entire invention system is unavailable.

To hell with this. I'm playing LOTRO until I get a response that they're fixing this and that I'm getting my stuff back.

    69 month vet signing off.
  4. I can lead a team for the first part of the event at noon.
  5. This is another reason I don't play villainside much, hardly at all in fact. The only SFs I've done have all been "speed" because the merits were so small. Heroside people are usually at least willing to fight on the way and sometimes even defeat all because the merits (except for Katie and Eden) aren't anemic.
  6. I don't expect anyone except a Defender whose role is primarily team support to pick up an ally resurrect. For Controllers, Corrupters, and Masterminds support is a secondary, nice to have some of it, but it's not their meat and potatoes.

When you're in the thick of battle against an AV standing on top of you using PBAOE an awaken is not going to be very useful. Only an ally rez is going to get you straight back into the fight. On a raid getting straight back into the fight is pretty important. An awaken may do the job, but slower.

It's your build. It's your choice.

    Assuming you're playing a defender:

When I build a team you won't be my first choice, any more than a tanker that doesn't take Taunt, a blaster that skips their nuke, a controller that skips their hold, or a scrapper that skips primary attacks in favor of jumpkick or flurry. It's all about choice. Expect people to respect yours, and respect theirs in turn. I won't kick you if I invite you, but if I have a choice to make between two people for the last spot they probably will get it instead of you.
  7. I want some COH bling! I have money to spend. Cater to me and I will feed your profit margin.
  8. Sister Psyche (Team 2) 2:19:06
    American Dreaming
    Agent Hades
    Carla Winters
    Ebon Archeress
    Terra Sentinel
    Arius the Redhanded
    General Xavier
    Mr. Meson

The team took a vote at the beginning and the majority voted for xp, not speed. The stealthers determined the most direct point to objectives and we fought everything in our way.

Thanks everyone for a fun TF!

Seriously, S_M, I don't have a script, I don't have confirmed voice actors (just who I know I'd want to get), and I don't even have a site to beg players for money to make the movie. Please save it and get something for yourself.

That's okay. He was just saying last night when we were doing the taxes that "we need to donate more money, we can afford it." I figure I'll hit the Humane Society, Doctors Without Borders, and a few other places next. If we can afford to donate $400 to the Jamestown foundation then we can afford to support your wonderful videos. They make me happy. And maybe I'll still buy something for myself if I could think of anything I wanted other than a new video card (I can't. Though if he continues to tick me off on other things maybe I'll buy a new car just because I'm that mad and he said I could have one awhile ago, not that I want one).

Edit: An explanation of why I don't just buy it myself - we agreed long ago that any expenditure over $50 we had to agree on. We 'agree' on donating money. We 'agree' on cars. We don't agree on the video card. Thus, no new video card.

A word of advice to husbands: Don't ever tell your wife she can't have something she desperately wants and that you can afford out of petty cash. She'll find a way to get even.

Edit2: PS: You are very welcome. For the hours of entertainment you have given me, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If I could raise about $50,000, I would make a full length CoH feature film machinima. Original score, voice acting, the whole schmear. Unfortunately, the odds of me raising the money are about as good as... I don't know, pick the most unlikely thing you can think of.
My husband still won't bite on the new video card. I'll send the money to you instead. Right. Freaking. Now.

Edit: Sent. I wasn't joking. There's a small start on your budget, or to pay for the site, or a new dress and pair of shoes. Anything to keep you making videos. And I will make him rue the day. I plan on spending the vid card money over and over and over and over again.
  11. Yet another in-freaking-credible video! Like the above poster, you are the reason I visit youtube to watch your videos again and again.

You've done me a big favor and don't even know it. I can show this video to my husband to convince him I really do need a new graphics card for ultramode. Showing him screenshots didn't convince him, that flying scene just may.

Currently he won't bite on that. If he continues to be obsteprious he'll no longer be biting on home cooked meals either. That way lies doom, but I'll do it. I stopped feeding him for a month when he continued to drag his feet on installing my new computer that had been sitting on his desk for three months.

Kudos for doing your part to prevent marital discord.

The change that has been implemented is a temporary change to combat a long standing exploit. This was a stopgap fix that we had to put out until we could come up with a more permanent solution. We certainly do not want to leave your arcs in a state where using them in non-exploitive ways results in little to no experience being gained.

Myself, pohsyb, Television, War Witch, along with everyone else here involved in the operations of Mission Architect, are doing everything we can to arrive at a solution that we can all agree on.

We currently plan to implement a solution in issue 17 or soon thereafter (and I mean actual soon and not Soon™) . We can't go into detail about what exactly is planned, but it will alleviate the current issue that many of you are having, which is finding your normal arcs are rewarding little experience.

Anyone who has a normal story arc that is drastically affected by this change should not go about overhauling your work. We are going to make sure that this upcoming fix will stop exploitive behavior within Architect while also allowing you all to be as creative as you want within the system - without extremely negative consequences.

    Dr. Aeon
As this was a longstanding problem, since AE's release a year ago, why use a flawed, guaranteed to infuriate your playerbase, short term... I hesitate to call it a solution.

You've only made things worse, and not for the exploiters.

This is true. I've tested the solo vs team drop and the disparity is vast and not at all proportional. I can run a mission solo (at x8) and get 20 recipes and salvage drops like candy. The same mission I'm lucky to see 4 recipe drops and a few salvage if I have even one teammate. I assume it is the same problem with tickets.
  14. Ridiculous.

The real farmers I know don't even touch AE. They use standard missions, the wall in Cimerora, or afk PvP farm.
  15. Do we post the answers here or save them for Sunday?
  16. Sounds fun!

(And what a beautiful announcement, MP!)
  17. Crimson says it well:

It's interesting to think about how ferociously all of those people fought for control of the Revenant program. Now, I can see the tactical appeal of having disposable superhumans to do all of your dirty work, but I believe that if you're not willing to risk your life or what you hold dear to accomplish your goal, then maybe you should re-think what you really want. Power, control, security; all of those are just fancy ways of saying that you're afraid, and you want to not be afraid anymore. People will do a lot to avoid fear, even become the monsters they're afraid of.

I suppose I also believe, as Abraham Lincoln said, that 'As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master.'
  18. I've run into this before.

Trademark and copyright are the legitimate concerns of GMs, as are actual people, as these things can lead to ugly lawsuits. As far as characters from books are concerned the question you need to answer is "has the copyright expired"?

A clone of Lara Croft is going to get the generic stick.
A clone of Ichabod Crane (from the book, not based on the movie "Sleepy Hollow") shouldn't. You would have a valid argument that the character should not be genericed.

When I was in PERC I wrote the event "Follow the White Rabbit", which was held in Spring 08. We based the event, including characters and dialogue, upon the book "Alice in Wonderland". We worked from the book's illustrations rather than the Disney movie, thus avoiding copyright and trademark problems.

Contrarily there was a "George W. Bush" character on Liberty for years. He kept the name despite numerous petitions. I have no idea why.

I have one tribute character on Liberty named "Avenger America". It's female, not male (will eventually be 5 different people in the same costume - a team in itself) and while patriotic themed does not copy Captain America's costume. Not a clone, but a tribute meant to make you think of Captain America. She doesn't pretend to be him.

Be wary of that logic. Smarter, yes. Richer, yes. Kinder? Wiser? More compassionate?

Many people are smart. Many people are rich. Many have political power. Many have physical strength.

These attributes do not give them, or anyone, the right to kill or choose other's destinies. That way of thinking leads to eugenics, racism, sexism, factionalism, religious hatred, and tyrrany.

Edit: There is no real difference in value between me and a poor Nigerian farmer. Not really. Wealth doesn't make me superior, it just means I don't have to worry about starving.

Ozymandias' plan wipes out millions of innocents (in the book, it's a psychic shockwave from a genetically created "alien race": in the movie, it's caused by Doc Manhattan's reactor which Ozy turns into a bomb).

However, the slap in the face draws the world back from the edge of nuclear meltdown, and unites the nations in hatred and fear of the "other" (whether the mysterious aliens or the Doc).

Question - do these twin evils, the killing of millions and the brainwashing and fear induced in billions more... are they justified by the results?
And what of his arrogance in assuming he had the right to choose life or death for millions to satisfy his own ends, regardless of what they were?

I've seen Ozymandius used as an example many times in this thread; his goals, his methods, one justifying the other.

What of his arrogance? That's at the root of his choice and the foundation for many an evil man's choices. Hitler thought he had the right to choose life or death for others and felt himself superior, all for the greater glory of Germany. Ozymandius' views, methods, and intentions weren't much different. Everyone, not just jews, gypsies, the disabled, the mentally retarded, etc, were all inferior to him and okay to sacrifice to achieve his goals.

No kidding! What video card are you using?
  22. Yes, it went too far. When the end result is that effectively the only way to write an unpenalized mission is a simple radio-missionesque "Defeat the Boss" you might as well run radios. And people will. The farmers will go right on farming maps of easy mobs. Only the storytellers and those who enjoy stories are truly penalized.

    RIP AE.
