The question we need to keep in mind is 'what is this changed mechanic intended to be used for later?' I don't think Inner Inspiration in itself is enough to devote developer time into creating an entirely new recharge mechanic. No other power acts this way... yet. What will in the future?
If this was incarnate powers would it only be 'mildly disappointing'? I don't think so. -
I'm sorry to hear that Ukase. I was hoping that 2xp weekend would be good for people to run MSRs as they'd want to level up their 35+ characters. MSRs are very good xp.
I'd bring a 50 to help lead a team, but still even that's good drops.
Not having enough people show up for tonight's MSR was a bummer. -
Quote:This is happening on Liberty. Thanks for checking!Let me test this.
I might be misunderstanding you - but I'm not seeing any dead time here at all.
Log in character 1: Hero: Pinnacle
Eat a few inspirations to make room, hit Inner Inspiration (total time, under a minute.) Inner Inspiration throws a few insps in and starts to recharge.
Immediate log out to character select.
Log in character 2: Hero: Pinnacle
Has space in inspiration tray. Hit inner inspiration. Works immediately. Time between last use and this one, given the 30 second logout timer, MAYBE a minute and change.
Not sure what you're seeing. Which server are you on? I can try there. There might be something goofy going on there. -
It's happening consistently, all last night and today. For about a total of 10 hrs of playing on 4 different characters.
-
Quote:Before it recharged in real time, so no, not unless you waited 30 minutes. However, each character had independent recharges - JUST LIKE ALL OTHER POWERS.Before, could ypu use it, log out and back in and find it recharged?
If so, this fixes that.
Eco
This sucks. What next, making Fallout or Elude not recharge when logged out? -
I doubt we'll see a response that clarifies what was done and why.
The way it worked before the timer on the power was independent of other characters.
Example of BEFORE:
- Character A logs on and uses Inner Inspiration and logs off ten minutes later, with 20 minutes remaining for power recharge.
- Character B logs on and uses Inner Inspiration and logs off fifteen minutes later, with 15 minutes remaining for power recharge.
- Character A logs back on, but still has 5 minutes left until recharge.
- Character C logs on and Inner Inspiration is ready for use.
Example of NOW:
(This was last night and I'd been on vacation and away from COH since March 1st.)
- Character A logs on and Inner Inspiration is full size, but greyed out. After five minutes it un-greys and can be used. Use it, finish mission, log out.
- Character B logs on and Inner Inspiration is full size, but greyed out. After five minutes it un-greys and can be used. Use it, log out.
- Character C logs on and Inner Inspiration is full size, but greyed out. After five minutes it ungreyes and can be used. Use it, log out.
-Character A logs back on and Inner Inspiration isn't recharged yet because it hasn't been 30 minutes yet.
The timer is still independent for each character, the devs have just added 'dead time' to it where it is unusable after you log in. Now that sucks. Name me something else that even if recharged is 'dead' and inaccessible when you log in. And for what, because someone might flip through a few characters for a couple extra inspirations?
I'm not happy because two of my friends spent real money for extra tokens to get /vault /auctionhouse and Inner Inspiration because I recommended them after they saw me use them. It also messes up my own timing on how I do things; I log in, sort my character's inspirations and storage, if needed buy Grai Matter, then take off for missions.
Bleh. Unnecessary nerf to fun. -
The Inner Inspiration vet reward appears to have been changed. Now, when I log in the power is greyed out for about 5 minutes. It doesn't matter if I've just used it on another character and switched or if I've been logged off for days. It's greyed out upon login for about 5 minutes.
I spent a token on this and am unhappy. Is anyone else seeing this? -
Quote:This is how I felt. Hero lore is loaded with magic origin characters who might have been able to advise and help, from Azuria to the genie in Brickstown. And yet Akarist and DeVore are to be trusted?I think it's just dumb for them to assume that the Circle ritual will do the right thing to begin with. The sources of information are at best, unreliable, and the Circle themselves are mostly made of up disembodied spirits possessing a human host.
That's fairly common knowledge by level 50, so I think any competent mystic would question using an empowerment ritual devised by them, since it's just as likely to be intended to empower the foreign entity rather than the host's own consciousness.
That's where it jumped the shark for me. -
#1 on my list:
The "shop" button should not be so close to the dot to click the salvage window closed/near the edge of the tab.
Way too many times have I accidentally clicked the store open then had the game freeze up when I only wanted to peek at my salvage or drag the salvage window elsewhere. -
I didn't know that either! It would have saved a world of grief for my husband who had a tiny monitor. We bought him a bigger monitor just 2 weeks ago. I would still have gotten him the monitor, but I wouldn't have had to listen to him rant.
-
Well, there's an update so we'll see....
-
Drop me a tell, I'd be happy to team with you and I'm sure Valor would too.

This is an example of how I customize my screen:
This set up is optimized for my play style and limitations. This may not suit you, but I hope it gives you ideas.
I see the center and right side of my monitor best, upper left is the most difficult. Thus the upper left is where I put things to reference, but not see constantly. I can see the lower left hazily and movement there (IE: new chat) tells me I have something new to read.
Specific customizations:
Instructions how to do this yourself
Either Map or League is pinned in the upper left corner of the screen where I can reference it at need. HP and target are mid right side so I can see them.
The red and blue dots on an UI allow you to tack and untack. You can drag the UI where you want it by click + hold the left mouse button down and drag.
Text size is #15 font.
Options > General > Chat > Font Size
Chat tabs are reorganized.
Right click on tab > Edit tab > Click on the channel(s) you want to remove/add > do it > click OK to save. To add a new tab right click on the chat box (not tab) and Add New Tab, then modify as above.
I use binds for changing channels. For example, LB is on the 'b' key.
/bind b beginchat /send "LB"
Power trays are organized so that my actual mouse movement is limited to a small area. I use #s 2-4 for my most commonly cast items, 5-6 for the frequently cast, and 1 for Mystic Fortune. I buff teams by clicking on the team menu and hitting the #.
Options > General > Miscelaneous > Lock Powers in tray > Disable
I've enabled reticles so that I can see other players hps/power easily even when not on their team/league, and it makes it easier to target and buff/heal. I like to see titles, etc and enabled those too.
Options > General > Reticle > enable whichever you want.
I also use the player rating system and always show it on the monitor. This makes it easy to keep track of people like raid leaders, SG mates, my mom, etc.
Options > General > Reticle > Player Rating > Show always
To add a player rating click on the player > right click > add note
Your computer will remember this for you. If you wipe the HD, reinstall COH, or get a new comp you'll have to add new notes
If there are any questions I'll do my best. Please note that this is how I have my mouse set up, if yours is different you may need to experiment a bit, but the theory is sound. -
If you look closely you can see that I have American Valor and Ukase 'starred' so I can spot them in the crowd, and that I've targetted someone off the league menu up on top of the ship for a drive by rez and buff. I also have my most commonly used attacks in a 2x3 grid for easy click-click-click.

Thanks for the tip, Ukase! Setting up each character gets old.

Damnit! I just spent an hour writing a post on how to modify your screen with screenshot samples and Firefox or the forums ate it!

Malaise.
Those eyes.
Long dark hair.
Goatee.
Works for me. -
Quote:Me too. As long as th epic pools remain. If I'm reading you correctly, other than the epic fight, you're wanting to have a story where the Phalanx falls apart in the aftermath, then Posi reforms it, bringing in lots of new people in a 'new' Phalanx?
Sounds kind of like going from Freedom Phalanx to Freedom Phalanx: Unlimited... where our characters can actually be in the Freedom Phalanx and maybe have the heroes get Patron Pools from the 'elder members' (the original Freedom Phalax) with special story arcs involving them and bringing us deeper into the lore?
If that's what you're saying, I'm all in!! Though I may have misread -
I heavily customize how my screen is laid out. I have a natural tendency to see better up and to the right and poorly on the upper left. I also use #s 1-6 for my most frequently used powers, especially buffs and heals on my support characters. The team list is now near the power tray and the map or league UIs go in the upper left where I can reference them, but aren't in my 'field of vision'. I have it all set up so that my mouse only has to move around a small area of the screen most of the time. Inside indoor maps I play with a tiny minimap in the upper left because I lose direction easily. I also enabled reticles for health and power so I can monitor the hps above characters' heads as well as in the league and team UIs.
I've figured out what works best for me after all these years, but most people play with the default. Maybe that works for them, but perhaps it presents problems. There are so many options to choose from.
I'll admit that I need to be taught to fish in some things and Ukase has helped me out on this. When it comes to moving between lists (like the incarnate creation process) I can forget what I just read, and anything with math I get confused easily. Those of you who know me best know why, but the short version is I'm accommodating some medical limitations. Annihilius and Ukase have been great about giving advice and answering build questions. Combat Attributes has to be just about the greatest thing ever.
I've heard of people playing with anything from babies to pets in their lap. Phone calls, spouses, lightning strikes that kill your PC, real life has a way of complicating a hobby. The best unannounced afk excuse I've heard when the player came back is, "my roommate just attempted suicide" seconded by "brb garage on fire".
So, I heartily approve of this fish.
PS: I'll take some screenies of my customized layouts and post them this weekend. Maybe someone will find them helpful. -
Quote:I wasn't feeling cheated until this one when I saw Penny's pet and then ran through 'busy work' missions to see the obvious consequence of trusting enemies' plans to save Psyche instead of asking for help from the numerous magic origin NPCs. Even the magic store vendor in Brickstown should have been called on first before Akarist and DeVore.Really? I was of the impression that the audience were already feeling cheated by SSAs 1-6 so far. Continuing that trend would simply be par for the course at this point ... wouldn't you say?
My SG's favorite catch phrase has become, "This can't possibly go wrong." We say it as we enter every SSA mission now.
We did SSA6 last night and nearly everyone after the cutscene types, "Why didn't you use your KO arrow" or some variation of that.
And wasn't that last mission of escorting a glitchy follow UI through two Oranbega maps, fighting your way back to find a newly spawned boss, then run back fun? I downrate AE missions for that stuff.
I've really enjoyed SSA 1-5 but can't see myself running through 6 more than once per character.
