Thats gotta be SOME HAMSTER !!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's why Defiant's been up for so long and why it doesn't crash very often. It's a Giant Monster Hamster. No one attacks them any more
  2. All the times I've taken a break from Co*, it's never been the game that's got on my nerves and made me wanted to break things, it's been the players.

There really are some utterly idiotic brainless pillocks around, and unfortunately these days, they seem to be the majority rather than the minority. I'm sure this has got worse since i6 when I started playing, but PuGing these days has become an exercise in frustration.
  3. This game is too easy because I have infinite lives. Did I activate some sort of cheat mode? There is no lives display, and no option to show it. Make this game with 3 or 5 lives so that there gives a sense of danger when missioning. Not really a complaint; I should probably put it in Suggestions.

    Sorry. I'm new.

He doesn't need to. You have one path in a tunnel and a visible exit at the end.
  5. Whilst I understand the point you're making Cryo, I hardly think it's relevant in a 16 rated game about comic superheroes. *resists urge to insert a semi colon and right bracket*
  6. Oddly I agree with GG on this. Frankly being able to almost predict the missions you're going to get and know what you're going to have to do for the umpteenth time but with just a difference cossie and set of powers is dull. I don't care how you try and convince me that the nuances of a different team make up or builds makes each encounter unique, it really doesn't. If this system gives the possibility for arc branching and some real consequence for what happens in your missions, be it success, failure, good, evil or indifferent will be an extremely welcome addition in my opinion. It's always struck me as a bit ludicrous that no matter how important or emphatic a mission objective is made by a contact, if you fail it, there's a lame excuse along the lines of, "Oh don't worry we picked him up anyway" and the story progresses regardless.

Sure it ain't broke, but it also ain't "fine the way it is".
  7. K - you most definitely have been missed.

I wouldn't necessarily go as far as to say it's griefing, per se... But it IS somewhat annoying, and just shows a total lack of respect for others, and an absence of manners.

Being the old git I am, I'm probably bound to say that such behaviour is rife in the real world, not just our virtual one, so in some ways it's to be expected. It seems people are all too aware of their rights, but have no conception of their responsibilities.

  10. BF... I'm concerned just how authentic that is.

Maybe there's a phenomenon at work here; inside every rational, literate, competent player is a txt speaking, irrational cretin bursting to get out!

Even though I don't RP, I can understand where you're coming from with this FFM. One thing that does happen to me that irks are when people want to get a good look at your cossie and go as close to your character as the engine will allow. Ironically they'd get a better effect if they walked PAST you and rotated the view around, but hey.

Rudeness in game happens simply because there is no consequence. If someone is rude to your face they're likely to get a bop on the nose, in game they know they're untouchable.

In an ideal world consequence would make no difference, and it'd be a simple matter of common decency. Unfortunately, as we all know, both this world, and the virtual one are far from ideal.

ow level players joining farm teams to get to higher levels quickly and then end up with no clue about simple things like agro range later on. I can understand PVP players that would want to do this however, and to an extent I can sympathise with veterans that do this too; the first 20 or so levels on both sides are dull as dishwater when you've done them a couple of dozen times.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I have to disagree here, it's part of the Veteran badge system I love, I've seen 30+ month vets who suck so hard it's phenomenal. Then I've seen a player that says he's been at it for only a week and they are good and solid team mates. I really do not think there is a real effect here.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Could you explain which bit you disagree with?

I realise that number of vet badges is not directly proportional to player skill, and also that whether you want a player in your team largely depends on that players attitude and demeanour rather than how long they've been playing, however in my experience, on the whole, from what I've seen the players that are the ones sitting in PI at lvl 5 asking to join farm teams are the LAST ones that really should be, because they'd be better off learning game mechanics in Steel Canyon or the Hollows.

Perhaps I'm using bad examples, or not choosing my wording very well. I just feel that farming in those circumstances promotes a "cheat mode" or "instant gratification", when really to get the best out of an MMO takes time. Levelling a character to 50 in this way cheapens the experience (imo at least), and may even lead to "MOAR HI LVL CONTENT PLX!!!" demands. A player who's done the same farmed mission from 1 to 50, has his shiney level 50 character expecting to experience all the high level "stuff", only to find if he'd done all the content from 1-50 in the first place, maybe he wouldn't have that problem?

    Maybe I'm wrong *shrug*

I have to agree with Ratty's point (1). we've all played with players like that. On the flip side though is the argument that poo players will still be poo players whether they are PL'd or proper levelled.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Indeed we have - the thing that worries me is that there appears to be far more of them than there used to be. I'm not suggesting for a minute that farming is the reason for that, and maybe I've been unlucky with the PuGs I've been getting recently, but I've given up teaming outside of my SG over the last couple of weeks because I always seem to end up on a team full of clueless retards. I remember a time when the clueless txt speaking retard was the odd one out that the other team members used to lightly take the mickey out of until he quit. Now it seems to be the other way around.

Forza Motorport 2 has my gaming attention at the moment!
  18. I still think that saying "Farming puts more salvage in circulation, therefore this brings prices down, therefore 'yay for famers'" is a little one sided. Not only does it put more items in circulation, it also puts more INF into circulation as well. One could argue that this view in isolation could lead to the conclusion, "More inf means more people have the means to have something NOW with price being no object which drives prices UP; 'booo farmers'"

I don't think any one element or component of the game affects the market prices on it's own; it's a combination of things, and therefore using market prices as a means to justify why you farm, or bash those that do is a little short sighted.

I don't really have a problem with farming per se, but there are a few related things that I don't think do the game any favours. Namely:

1 - Low level players joining farm teams to get to higher levels quickly and then end up with no clue about simple things like agro range later on. I can understand PVP players that would want to do this however, and to an extent I can sympathise with veterans that do this too; the first 20 or so levels on both sides are dull as dishwater when you've done them a couple of dozen times.

2 - Unsolicited fill / bridge requests; although this has drastically reduced in my experience.

Personally, I think farming takes away the "game" side of things and just makes it a dull and repetitive grind fest; I'm not saying it's wrong on that basis, just wrong for me.

(Incidentally for those that don't know the difference between "to" and "too", it's really quite easy.

"I am going TO France. My friend is coming TOO"

Use "too" when the meaning implies "aswell" or "also". Use "to" for everything else unless you're talking about the number between 1 and 3)
  19. Not funny. A lot of bad language and insulting things just to be "big".

    Fail.
  20. I think my opinion of the ad system was fairly well established in the thread that was running when this was first announced. I'm therefore going to smirk and chuckle quietly to myself.

Seriously though, I wonder how much creative control NCNC really thought they were going to get when allowing someone like Nike to advertise in their game? In a deal like that, whether we like it or not, a giant household consumer brand is going to call the shots, not (with the greatest respect) some two-bit games company.
  21. My two-pennorth:

"Epic" does not mean "More Powerful"

"Easier to play" does not mean "More Powerful"

VEATs are easier to play than HEATs (especially at lower levels), but that doesn't make them "better".

One point that did make my .. er.. (whatever the visual equivalent of ears pricking up is) was "PuGs tend to prefer blasters 'cos they want more damage" - I'm not sure that's entirely the fault of the AT, but more the misconception and pigeon holing that ignorant players put them in to.

I have a lvl 50 PB, and it's one of those toons that I really have to be in the mood to play - as FFM rightly says, to get the best out of it requires an entirely different approach to the normal "mash buttons when they recharge" that you can get away with on most other toons.

Some of the PB powers could probably do with looking at and tweaking, but I wouldn't say that as an AT, Kheldians are entirely broken.

Edit: One after thought; I wonder if the fact that VEATs are easier to play than HEATs is really just a natural progression of generally making the game easier to play. We've had the XP and debt modifications to make levelling easier, The Hollows has been revamped to make it easier, Quantum damage has been nerfed to oblivion to make playing Khelds easier.. maybe VEATs are just another notch in the "dumbing down" of Co* ?

All the songs from the Alice Cooper Classics album remind me of CoH/V, as I had that on repeat much of the first year I spent ingame. Also a Metallica song I couldn't name if I tried, but whenever I hear it I go, "Aha! City Of!"

Maybe a skilled tank without taunt will only be 80% as efficient at a skilled tank with taunt. However, the object of the game is to have fun, and CoX is a very easy game: everyone at 100% effciency 100% of the time is not required for fun.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. Not only is it not required for fun, it's not required for effective tanking. You can be 80% efficient and still 100% effective in this game.

The only teams where nobody dies are great teams, not teams with great tanks..

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

A team where no one dies is more down to the performance of the whole team rather than one individual. That said I have seen bad teams held up by one or two really outstanding individuals.
