You can check out the test server - it has all the new stuff. Or you can search around for screenshots of I11 stuff.
*Edit - or check out that link above
Nice LJ -
It's a little chilly now but when I get in a rut, I like to sit outside and draw from life around me. A pond w/trees and birds, maybe stare at the mirror and do a self portrait. Maybe you can add a costume to a self portrait...
The good thing about ruts is that they don't last forever. -
That's really developing nicely! Looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Well Done and Grats Turbo! You had to have your finger on the printscreen button just waiting for that sparkly shot!

Thanks to a little help from Starchasm, I have found my artist!
Hopefully he has time over the next year or so!

Here is a question...and please, I don't want this to become a big argument...there have already been enough of those so far...
But one of the major arguments regarding the use of Black in costumes is that everyone is doing it, and there is too much of it running around.
But every single design that I have seen on this post that have gotten accolades uses White. Isn't that just as bad? I mean sure, it allows for better views of texture, but most of the white is on Tights legs, or other pieces that don't have much texture to them in the first place.
Now I am a design professional, so I understand wanting to mix things up, but is using white all over the place the answer? Not discounting that White is a good color to use by any means, but do we really want just as many white costumes running around as Black ones?

IMHO the bottom line with black or white is that they both work extremely well with any color. They offer the most drastic contrasts against all other colors and I see no problem with using (or not using), either. Too much black or too much white is really for the creator to decide, not the CoX community. -
I like a measure of realism from an artist with good grasp of light and shadow. Medium is optional as any can acheive this if done correctly.

I've heard of the whole black as a primary thing, but I believe this costume turned out well.
http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd309...27-19-26-17.jpg,
Anyone have any suggestions on how to make this any better? I cant seem to find a way to add a third color in.

I agree with the others on this Sokarus. Definitely the goggle lenses are the prime area to target for an additional color application. Minimally, that may be all you need. -

- (This one I have a huge bit of advice on, but I am gonna go for everyone elses opinion too) I want a power house beauty, that is more conservative. Class, and Power mixed together to create something... Elegant. Keeping it PG-13 and yet inducing the seductive side of the imagination. How are you accomplishing this?

Robot_Apple - I have a character that fits this build nicely...
Also note that she does not require 44 triple D's to look seductive.

VERY good job on this one. I appreciate the pic =)
Can you also do a break down of how you selected the colors and such? Putting together specified sections inside the guide for each persons ideals. =)

Thanks Apple! First off she is a Invulnerable/SS Tank. I chose red because as some may know, red is a "power color" and she is a powerful character. White lends itself to the "good guys" vibe and the yellow trim is a great accent color against both red and white. I did not want anything too busy so there are alot of solid areas of color using yellow stricly as accents. I thought the open midrift offered a nice level of sexiness without "selling out" (if that makes any sense).
I made a quick animation of this costume swapping the red for different colors, and honestly every color but orange seems to work well. On the last costume of the animation I also swapped the white with black to try something different, but honeslty, the red really translates the feeling of power and strength for me.

A price range. I'm not throwing any names out here, but you guys know who's produces quality work here in the CoX community.
Taste and art style are factors as well. I could do it myself, but I'd still hire Alex Ross if I had major coin to drop. There's something kewl about other artists doing your character. -
Just out of curiosity, what is the average commission these days?

I know some people dislike my use of the bone boots and gloves on a hero... I think it looks good, some people think it looks too "evil".

I know where you are coming from on this Crown. In fact I'm sure you will agree with me that there's little other choice. It's a piece that "must" be used.
I find the metallic bone boots and gloves are one of the most important costume accessories cuurently available. Why?
Because of the reflective option they provide, as well as the fact they offer a full coverage option up to the elbos and knees. The only other glove or boot options I can think of offerring this kind of coverage or reflectivity would be the Vanguard pieces, (and they have to be earned later in game).
This also leads into textures, as someone recently brought up. The texture of a reflective covering, next to or against a matte or dark background, is an "instant" eye-grabber! You can test this by making a costume with a very dark colored suit with nothing on it except metallic bone boots and gloves. Start by coloring the boots/gloves white and yellow respectively. Change colors to taste. You will find the contrasts are rich, and will probably spark creativity.
One caveat to the coloring of the metallic boots/gloves: The darker you make the color, the less refelctive or polished effect you end up with.
I'm also a sucker for matte boots and gloves, (especially flared). They hold color "strongly", (in a matter of speaking), and offer good areas of "texture-contrasting" on the costume in general. -

It's hard to articulate, but the best way I can describe my approach, is that I look at a new costume as a blank canvas. It is there for me to implement color.
The colors will either be dictated by the theme of the character or I have a a pre-determined color palate in mind. I utilinze each costume piece almost as a brush stroke to implement the amount and placement of each color.
Most of the time, my preference is to use a minimum of three colors. Two main colors that contrast well with each other, and the third color for accent and flavor. I also view hair and skin color as part of the costume, not just the clothing.
I challenge myself often by trying to squeeze as many different colors into one costume and still make it all work together. -
