    You need to have the tank or scrapper to be constantly following and taunting which effectively takes them out of the fight too. Where as a Sonic just uses Cage every 30 seconds and thats it. for the other 28 seconds they are free to buff, debuff and escape. Sonic Cage has a base range of 80 so you don't need to be that near.

    Its interesting to note that nofuture.org.uk has it at 15 seconds duration for players and 30 seconds for non players. I'm pretty sure its 30 seconds. Sherksilver's CoH builder has the Cage length at 45 seconds lol.

    I think if they reduced the range of Sonic Cage so that you have to be really close to use it, then that would give players an opening to be able to take down the sonic. The sonic would also need some skill in being able to cage.

    and there are powers with res to taunt too and as Stryker says if a tank is perma following and taunting they aint gonna be having any fun either, this wasnt some SG match up, just random teams for a bit of fun and certain people telling a sonic to waste peoples time by perma caging them.

    That said when the inv/em tank on the other side did taunt me I started fighting him it was just fun

    you can break taunt, you can break TK you cant break cage, all caging does in a casual fun pvp night (WHICH IS WHAT MONDAY IS SUPPOSED TO BE) is ruin peoples enjoyment when some gimp calls for one person to be perma caged.

    but its an aspect thats open to massive abuse against the spirit of these pvp nights, its not a willy waving contest, its supposed to be fun and when some jackass is calling for a certain player to be perma caged the whole premise is out the window and here comes the unfun.

    Vetoing a power is fundamentally wrong, but there will always be certain miscreants whos desire to win will press on for perma caging of certain individuals. My ice/em tank isnt a huge threat, it doesnt have taunt and blasters (and some defenders) outdamage it by a massive margin and yet I was caged for virtually an entire match. I would ahve quit the game but a certain tool would have just called the cage on someone else and ruined thier fun as well.

    I take it for what it is (nice bit of fun and chance to have a friendly banter). My poor villain is just a copy and not pvp spec'd up beast. I think if gets too hardcore it will just discourage those new/learning to pvp. I am trying to get more from my supergroup to turn up but it is disheartening if all you do is get multi ganked constantly.

    I agree with this to a certain extent. I stopped playing my emp last night because he is only 42 and so prioty target for the opposition. I spent the whole night running unable to buff the team (I know that's the point, but were not supposed to be playing that competitively, and it puts newer people off).

    When I'm calling targets for a team I never call the same target twice in quick succession and make a point of going after the harder to kill members of the opposition too (tanks/scrappers/brutes).

    Ah but that's the problem with Empaths, if you don't go for them your not killing anybody! Although I am sometimes nice and throw my -heal debuff on them but don't focus fire them down, and it's not because i'm cowardly hiding in BG, nope! >.>

    I'd veto the cage for this kind of thing too, it's a bit of a broken mechanic and no one enjoys spending the entire match unable to do anything.

    the cage in itself is fine, someones smacking you up, you pop them in the cage and run off going nya nya, its when you get tools saying to just cage X for the whole match that "friendly" PVP becomes a joke. It should be vetoed from friendly nights IMO too.

    And Valens is right, just going for same target is a joke in this situation too and will just scare off casual PVPers, I make a point of an attack rotation be they scrappers/blasters/doms/tanks etc etc

    /stone is the RSF brute build for very good reasons, its not a particularly well planned out SF and you really cant beat 1 granite and 7 corrs, we run it in just over an hour these days but its a shame it doesnt cater to the other ATs well.

    Not much you can learn/enjoy spending 9 mins 30seconds in a sonic cage, pretty much flips the switch from a fun game to a waste of time when you are targeted like that especially when its supposed to be a fun time and not min/maxed "omfgbbbq I gotta win I gotta win" teams. I could just log on one of my bubblers and cage the cager but theres absolutely no fun or pleasure in that and it just gets too serious.

    Try to set up some all blaster/corr matches next week, they always fun
  9. A lot of of the US arena matches i seen recently have a few ill/storms in them which makes watching more than a little annoying with all the damn pets out

  17. In a fit of nostalgia I decided to reroll my very 1st toon, an AR/EM I made on day one of US release, back when I had no clue about anything and AR (I learned later) was the bomb. Now my first toon still exists on one of my US accounts but I cant bring myself to respec it or even play it (still got 5th column missions)

    Now AR got nerfed to the stone age and has never recovered but I only wanted a fun toon to play around on so made my duplicate and now its lvl 34 is absolutely insane fun Its no I0 AR but with a tank taking agro, a troller immobing the mob a quick BU+Flamethrower+Full Auto = everything dead, next mob just rinse and repeat and I have generally been fighting +4s. Various comments of "I thought AR sucked?" are quite frequent and it truely seems to be the best team based blaster I have come across with the exception of my fire/fire but that needed a lot of backup to prevent very frequent faceplanting.

    AR is usually lambasted as it generally just churns out great globs of heavily resisted lethal damage but the fact that full auto is up every 30 seconds and doesnt cause a crash probably makes it the most useful and damaging tier 9 in the game (yes rain of arrows is similar and is area based as opposed to cone). Flamethrower also throws out sick numbers of pure fire damage.

    Throw boost range into the mix, which I will get half a bub, and it essentially widens the cones the further i stand back opening up the possibity of even more damage.

    Yeah AR sucks in pvp and its largely undynamic due to weapon drawing and doesnt synergise particularly well with any secondary. Buckshot, M30 grenade, beanbag and sniper rifle are largely useless in a team environment.

    However in spite of its flaws it throws out some truely sick damage numbers in teams and sadly I cant see a decent buff coming to this set past draw rooting getting fixed in the next patch

    yeah the toggle dropping was nuts, my /inv brutde got deleted as I couldnt see a reason to play it in the zones...then toggle drops got nerfed...

    if you are going to whine about burning bfs when someone is using em which is EASILY avoidable if you have half a brain, I recommend using /whoall and make sure that there are no controllers about, god forbid you have to use one of your insps

  20. dark, its really funny, fearsome stare + tar patch + flamethrower + Full auto = mwahahahaha. Mob falls over and u dont even need to use darkest night, the dark servant heals you and immobs/holds the mobs so you can toast them with ignite

    again a totally pointless post by you, please try to contribute to the thread you made when you got bored of spamming "EM needs a nerf" on arena chat on union.

    As for secondary effects they all do their job in the right hands, elecs drain can be a killer, ice can lock you down silly, fire is an AOE monster and /dev is packed with tricks. Seeing as what you are whining about is disorients which is in a MELEE power I really cant see your point (aside from looking for attention) its ONE status effect that is so easily countered its not even funny.

    You are an experienced pvper and dispite all attempts to prove otherwise I dont think you are totally stupid so either pad this drivel out with a real post or stop.

    u cant be perma stunned any more than you can be perma held in pvp (except in specific situations but stuns cannot achieve this)

    bonesmasher is one MELEE attack and if you manage to get into melee combat then you deserve to reap the benefits, what you going to whine at next? Screech? Beanbag? These are FAR more effective stuns, if the amount of /em blasters is causing you a problem you may want to spend more time practicing than moaning as you more than most should know how to deal with them.

    Psydock has a habit of starting threads just to try and get a rise, the thread isnt "what needs work" its just a blanket statement which is based purely on the /acs he has been spamming for the last few days trying to wind people up on union.

    In context and balance based on the characters and not external intervention the EM power functions how the rest should and hopefully will.
