Karma and Steadfast Protection are in the 10-30 range, while Blessing of the Zephyr is 10-50.

I've used the first 2 on my Dark Armour guys succesfully in the past, and in conjuction to CJ you'll be fine.

    So far I've had 5 Dark Armour scrappers / tankers / stalkers / brutes - 3 of which I took to 50.

Quite possibly my favourite set for the versatility it offers. It has great synergy with Dark Mélée, and is indecent with Spines.

175,000 praetorian characters have been created since the launch of Going Rogue.

51% of all existing characters are heroes, 26% villain, 10% vigilante, and 13% rogue.

Best zones for success with finding teams in broadcast, are Atlas, Steel Canyon, Talos Island and Peregrine Island for heros, and Cap au Diable for villains.

Otherwise all the advice about finding your server's teaming channels is the way to go.
    Very interesting stats.

Protector Activity Calendar says "feed me" for Mondays.

Let me know, and I'll send you an invite you as an editor so you can add/modify your events as you see fit.

  7. Thanks for the referrals for the N P C channel / Mentor Project guys.

As for Paragon Wiki, there's a specific sction which could help you get your bearings a little: The Player's Guide to the City.

    Link is in my signature.

    Welcome to Paragon City!
  8. This game is heavily instanced so unless you join a global channel on your home server you're bound to be missing out on most of the action.

If you're new to the game, consider joining the N P C channel. It's great for on-the-spot help - whatever server you hail from.

If your account is still active, join the Mentor Project channel (a player led undertaking) and introduce yourself.

If no Pinnacle mentors are available at that time, someone will at least be able to offer real-time assistance that may not otherwise qualify for a GM help request.

We also offer partnerships for those who prefer to go that route, where a mentor and a new player are paired together for the duration of their choice. This makes it easier to share info and have someone on your server, and in your time zone, who can be counted on. All servers (including EU) have registered mentors and other volunteers available.

More info if you follow the link in my signature.
  10. Hi THB,

A good way to get teams on Protector is to join a global channel. There's an ongoing thread which lists them all here. Some channels have the same function so I suggest you join a few, add them to your chat tab and then pick the one that suits you best.

If you'd like, you can also join another global channel for new / returning players who would appreciate ingame assistance in a more personal manner (partnership). This one is cross-server: volunteers are available to answer questions and offer assistance at all times of the day. Zaloopa is one such vet player who volunteers time and skills to assist others.

More info about that can be reached by following the link in my signature about the Mentor Project.

It also wasn't my first priority to register on the forum when I first joined the game, and no, sir, we have not directly spoken to each other much over the years as I have intentionally avoided this. Your posting style was indicative of us perhaps having had discussions in the past. My mistake. Thanks for clearing that up.

You're wrong on this being an attempt to get anyone to confess to anything. I don't even know how you interpreted that from what I said, or from what standpoint you're seeing what you're seeing. Can't help you with that, sorry. Can't help you with any Jello Shooter conspiracy either, as I have not been in that channel for over a year.

From what I know, that "facet of Protector" you allude to is so small it only has one person in it: myself. It's even smaller than you think. My opinions are my own. They just happen to be mostly in line with the majority of the players on this server.

Those I one-star I do so for my own reasons, as I said, and those decisions are never based on the level of game skill the person has. It's based on respect (or lack thereof) demonstrated publicly or while I'm teamed with them. Gaming skills and knowledge don't impress me. Respecting others does.

I don't see how you got that from what I replied to you. Have we confronted each other before you changed your forum handle? Your tone sounds familiar. Limiting what others do is impossible. I don't know why you mention that.

I couldn't care less if I get treated with respect, personally. But I hate to see good people give up their time and effort and see ignorant, impatient egotists ruin the intended objective not only for them, but for all other participants as well.

My own personal goals, and I'm glad to see others rising up and doing the same, on their own, is to better the Protector community's overall enjoyment of the game, as I've been trying to do ever since I started playing. That's one of the reasons I keep logging back in.

That's how people acted towards me when I started and that's what sets CoH - and one could argue especially Protector - apart from the habitual "me first" mentality so prevalent today.

Both those behaviors will eventually attract their expected outcomes. Whatever else you may say about it matters little in the face of results:

Rikti raids go rather well when coordinated.

They fumble around when not, or when usurped.

You can't fix impatience on the part of others through delegation.

Like I said, I wasn't there and it heard from other sources.

Your perspective does put a different spin on things. Thanks for the clarification.

As a matter of fact, I'm slightly embarassed to see there are still people acting ignorantly like this on this server. I thought they'd all been weeded out through attrition.

I couldn't care less, personally, if someone knew the game mechanics so well they were asked by the devs themselves how to play the game. In fact, most of the people I've one-starred were knowledgeable players who should know better.

If they know how to play so well then they have even less excuse to act with immaturity like this. The onus is on them, not the organizers.

Protector has very little tolerance for asshatery, but it will reward you richly when you honor your fellow players.

Trying to steal the spotlight for someone else's hard work and devotion to doing things right sounds a lot more like "unwarranted self-importance" in this light.

    RUSH the RIKTI!!

I hear from second hand a little about the issues encountered Wednesday night and must say I'm impressed to see people actively trying to figure out ways to better our overall community enjoyment of this recurring event.

After 3 years, Rush the Rikti has become as much a part of Protector's landscape as any other regular event, and that is in large part due to the faithfulness of the regular leaders like Drake Crator, Stone Daemon, Blazing Blue and before that Kira Swiftpaw (@Storm Tiger) and Elasi.

Here is my one and only suggestion: delegate.

Set a list of people whose experience can be counted on to run the raid if the expected "zone caller" can't make it (or can't make it into the zone). Have a rotating schedule, if that's better, for the folks who could lead (preferably not all of them close friends of yours).

If the scheduled raid doesn't start promptly at the time it's been set, people will start chomping at the bit and Bad Things™ will start happening. Not only will they not respect being throttled, they will probably lose respect.

I know you're working hard to provide a safe, structured raid. It goes without saying that you care about Protector enough to offer your time up like this. The fact that you popped in here and explained the situation in a transparent manner also displays good leadership skills.

That said, the harder you try to achieve perfection (and impose it), the less it will be appreciated. Protector is funny like that. It needs to "do its own thing". It needs to faceplant occasionally. It likes diversity. Many will think they can do it better than any of you (and some can) and will resent you simply for being there. You can't please everybody al lthe time.

The best you can hope for is to set up a flexible and dynamic structure where others can assist you and you don't get burned out or feel trapped into this weekly thing. The Hami raids are a great example of this. Another would be the Mentor Project (even if that is cross-server, it started here on Protector).

    Again: delegate.

And then sit back and enjoy what you've helped set in motion, without suffering all the stress that goes with it.

Thanks for leading this thing guys.

I just blame it on being at the "right place, right time".
