the pilgrim has the intro arc
the other major NPCs usually have mini tf/flashback like arcs
i know mender lazarus has a mini tf type thing, so does mender silos, i think the mid level one alternated between tesserect and twilight son depending if your a hero or vill (vill gets tesserect, hero gets twilight son)
the mini tf type things they run, or basically intro to flashbacks, usually focus on stories from the city of heroes comic series
almost all of them will tell you that they suggest you bring help because since they are mini tf type deals they usually end with an EB/AV (or multiple of such, mender silos is especially bad for this lol)
most poeple usually reference these things as tf or sf since they are fairly short, have a direct storyline, end in EB/AVs, and give a decent amount of reward merits (ie mender silos tf/sf), the only difference between these mini tfs and standard tfs is the fact that they have no minimum starting requirement

A good way to get teams on Protector is to join a global channel. There's an ongoing thread which lists them all here. Some channels have the same function so I suggest you join a few, add them to your chat tab and then pick the one that suits you best.
If you'd like, you can also join another global channel for new / returning players who would appreciate ingame assistance in a more personal manner (partnership). This one is cross-server: volunteers are available to answer questions and offer assistance at all times of the day. Zaloopa is one such vet player who volunteers time and skills to assist others.

I just got to Ouroboros, I got the 'join' mission from the Pilgrim and was directed to Mender Lazarus. I got through the first mission fine, but was destroyed on the second, I think I need some help. :S
I've never done team play in any form before so you may have to talk to me as if I'm a child for a bit... But I'm playing a level 30 natural corruptor with energy blast/transfusion.
