  1. Hey all! I currently have a SG base on Virtue that has a decent amount of prestige, but half of its base is basically an empty pit since the old SG base builder didn't have time to finish before the SG faded out. It seems like a waste to just let it go, though, so I'm looking for someone that can make something neat out of it. I'm not sure what sort of time investment goes into some of the swankier bases, but for this project I would predict no more than 3 or 4 medium sized rooms. (Again, no expert on it, so that estimate might be off.)

I'm not looking for function; just fun. The base can be almost entirely cosmetic, the only things I'd like to have in it are some salvage racks, an invention table, and maybe a vault. I'm interested in having seperate rooms done, possibly with two stories, or whatever funky tricks you have at your disposal. The base builder makes my head spin, so I'm totally willing to let you have fun with it and get creative. There are a few other minor things I'd want to make sure it has, but we can discuss that if someone takes an interest in doing it. This is primarily going to be an RP spot for me and a few friends, with the previously mentioned resources for storing salvage.

In return, I'd like to do a picture of a character of your choice. Either for yourself, or a gift for a friend! You can refer to my comic or my thread in the art forum for samples of my stuff; keep in mind I'll be putting more time into a picture I offer as payment, so there'll be more refinement than what's in the comic. (Shadows, etc.)

    THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!

I can't do it either. I've never been able to do the magic eye things, either. That crocodile picture is awesome though, with or without 3D.

Really? I read notes on it a while ago and don't remember seeing anything like that. That is indeed awesome news.

In all my characters I don't remember having any other move that takes as long as it does now to get out. >.>
  4. Going with a ranged defense build on a Blaster seems very cost effective, actually. I found some awesome advice in the Ar/Dev thread that had me come up with a build I love. My nerfed like AR/Dev is now able to solo 8 person spawns, when before she had trouble with single spawns. The build she uses only cost me about three hundred million, give or take. The only expensive ones were Numina's, and a LotG +Recharge.

One tip though, craft EVERYTHING. There's no reason to buy the enhancements premade if you're on a budget. 99% of the time you'll get the recipes + mats for a buttload cheaper.
  5. I realize this is kind of a dead horse, but with a lot of things, I'm hoping that if enough people call it out, maybe one day it'll get some attention.

We all know that Devices has its issues. It has two powers that are definitely lame ducks, one being Time Bomb, the other being Auto Turret. Since I've been playing my AR/Dev a lot more I have to say that I cut out Time Bomb with no real problem. But Auto Turret I have a hard time with letting go, and not just because it's sitting in my build for the Expedited Reinforcement bonuses.

As Devices blasters, we have to accept a few inevitable things. People with Build Up are going to outdamage us. We have no blaps. Our Trip Mines are pretty much unusable on fast-killing teams. And finally, we're garaunteed to have our caltrops out the second the tank pulls the mobs away from that area. What would really help us cope would be a nice perma-pet. It doesn't have to be a damage machine, but something that could follow us around doing chip damage, occassionally getting a kill and in general making us look pretty boss.

We can have Auto Turret out perma now, but it comes at the annoyance of having to go through its lengthy, interruptable cast time every minute or so. And guess what? If you're a blaster with hover, arguably one of our best defenses, you can't cast it while you're in the air! Sure, it gives a mini-Build Up for a few seconds after you bring it out, but it's a small consolation. For the most part, AT has limited usefulness solo, and next to none in groups. On things like BAF, it couldn't be MORE useless, since any good blaster is doing much more important attacks than wasting time bringing it out.

What would I suggest to make this a more likeable power? A few things that I'm sure others have touched upon, but merit saying again! My first thought would be to make it a Controller-style perma pet. It'll stay with you, and while it'll never break the game, will be a very unique thing that only Devices blasters get. Alternatively, treat it like Acid Mortar. A brief, un-interruptable cast time. I'd be more than happy to kiss mini-Build Up goodbye if it meant AT was less of a pain in the butt to use.

I've been Ar/Dev since before ED, and Auto Turret has always been one of those powers I've wanted to love despite itself. I mean, even back before it followed you around, it was awesome to whip out a freaking turret to shoot baddies down! It looks rad, it makes Devices unique, but sadly, it's just not that good right now.

So please. Think of the turret babies. D:

  7. I don't think I've ever seen the name and thought to myself to build a character around it. More often than not I'm sitting at the char creator trying to come up with one. I'm a big fan of pun oriented names, so this usually takes some time.

For Square Woot, however, the name popped into my head when I was building her. I was kinda playing around, building a nerdy tech girl, and was all "Hey, that fits," and thankfully it wasn't taken! I've tried to get the name on other servers to find it was taken, so I guess I'm lucky.

When I was making my first villain, I decided she'd be a Stone brute that RPed it as chocolate control. Initially I was going to call her Chocolate Chip, but that name was taken, so I ended up going with Chip Chocolate, which I ended up liking much better! Too bad playing Stone Armor was like riding a bike without a chain uphill.
  8. I remember way way back in the day, there was the Sailor Sushi Squad. (Or something similar.) It was a Sailor Moon-esque type of Sentai team. I'm not sure if they're around anymore, but for a while you couldn't go anywhere without bumping into a Sushi.
  9. Welcome aboard, Hugo! Glad you decided to give us a shot, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. If you ever need a Blaster for anything look me up, always happy to help.

  10. Penny's rival is revealed in today's comic.
  11. It's been suggested. Just like it's been suggested that they fix the useless parts of Devices. >.>
  12. Plain,

Thanks for the build! It's working great for me so far. The only thing I changed was that I removed one of the heals from Aid Self and added it to hover, because I got a drop of one of those Luck of the Gambler recharge dealies.

The build's working great so far. Been soloing 8 spawns, which I thought I could NEVER do on this character before.

I still haven't unlocked my Destiny, and I'm unsure of what to do. I'm leaning towards Clarion for status protection, since we don't get any form of it. Think it's worth it?
  13. Well, I did my first pic with the new markers. It's not as bad as it could've been, but I definitely need to iron out my own style for it. >.>

Character is Valkyrie, from a friend's novel. (Not the CoH one. )

  14. Sweet. That'll look good in Woot's black and turquoise color scheme.
  15. I'm so jealous of your base making skills. :O The sewer/base entrance in particular looks fantastic!

I may go /Elec for variety, I only have it on a baby scrapper I play with my kids.
Stone Melee is great. I'm not a numbers cruncher, but it feels like a ton of damage. It also has the nice SMAAAASH feel to it, which some other sets lack. Fault also makes for good mitigation, as well as some nice utility on things like BAF Trials. I didn't like SS because of the crash on Rage. I always ended up wasting my Knockout Blows for like 2 damage. : /
  17. Thanks!

I'm picking up a handful of copic markers at Michaels tonight. I want to try a marker drawing, maybe in a different style from the comic. Maybe I'll have something to show by Sunday or so. I'm looking forward to playing around with a new medium.

Ah, okay. I may still join in for fun. Are there plans to do any more after the finale is resolved?
  19. I edited the build above a little bit. I removed one of the slots from Fly and put it into Hover, to make room for a Luck of the Gambler Recharge Bonus thing. I'll be losing one of my Zephyr bonuses, but I think it's an even trade.

A good friend gave me a Purple Recipe yesterday, so that should pay for the whole build.
  20. They're all awesome, as is the monthly fan art battle. I'm looking forward to participating in September's!
  21. Wish I could make it but I'm gonna be tied up most of the evening. Good luck on your event tonight, Dechs!
  22. I would honestly recommend going against Stone Armor. My first brute was Stone/Stone, and her life to 50 was a hard one. Even IOed out with Incarnates, there's still things she struggles from.

Stone Armor has ridiculously high endurance costs to run all of the toggles out of Granite Mode, and combined with the end heavy Stone Melee, you'll be huffing and puffing a lot. Granite armor itself is a powerful armor, but it slows down your attacks so much that you might as well not even be a brute. (It's good for tank-minded Brutes, but especially with Going Rogue, the question of 'why not just be a tank' is more valid.)

My biggest complaint with it goes with Rooted. Your basic mez protection. Slows you to a crawl, and doesn't let you jump. Irritating in the best of situations, can get you killed in the worst. Jump into a mob because it's too slow to walk to them, even activating Rooted as soon as you get in, some mobs can sneak off a stun befoer you do so. Even with run speed IO sets, it's a pain, and honestly requires way more investment than any set should to become playable.

I'd recommend going with something like Willpower, or if you really want an earth-looking effect, shield with the elemental skin.

  23. I feel bad for picking on Pengi a lot. But he always got all the chicks, so...
  24. Gotta say I love playing Bots. The little guys still die a good bit, but much less than my soldiers, thugs, or zombies. They're also very gooda gainst certain groups. I don't sweat Carnies at all, or anyone that does psionic damage, really. They freaking obliterate Rikti; probably a combination of energy weapons and Rikti's lack of big AoE.

None of that beats concept though, so if you have a great idea for ninjas, run with it! Just be prepared to summon them quite a bit. >.>
