Hmm, I hope this revamp doesn't make it so the Banisher badge is even harder to get than it already is :S

Quote:Indeed. This is the reason why I will never buy Paragon Points or any other type of 'pretend money' like this.Because everyone has learned that as Microsoft proved with Xbox Live that disconnecting Points from Pounds makes people spend more of them because it's harder to keep track of how much money you're actually spending. It's the same reason that you can only buy points in chunks that are almost entirely incongruous with the number of points that anything costs, so that you always have just too few or too many (leading to too few next time) points for what you want so you have to buy another chunk of too many or too few points.

I notice the post that you linked containing the GM information has been removed by a moderator. So that's handy.
Some other official information would be nice because this system is still clear as mud, with information that might be true but it also might not be is scattered around here and there but only if you regularly read the forums. Hint: this is not the correct method for communicating to customers. -
Aside from the Incarnate system, I think a lot of premium players are going to be annoyed that the invention and auction systems are unavailable to the vast majority of them. God forbid they outfitted their character with IOs before they let their sub expire because they're going to be in for a nasty surprise, especially after they use one of their "character unlock tokens" on an essentially useless character.

I notice you did not reply to my post earlier on Hyperstrike. Interesting

Quote:You mean like that other really really big Western MMO? The one that gives one-day exemptions (i.e. free days) after downtimes? Yeah.Dude. Try looking around at other games during new version releases. You'll also see multiple long downtimes, some last minute bug firefights, etc. And you'll see them in greater numbers and magnitude than ANYTHING you've seen here.
A little perspective goes a long way.
Perspective indeed. -
Am I the only one who loves the naming of the DOs/SOs? I think they're really imaginative and allow people to more easily achieve a suspension of disbelief.
Additionally if you're advocating for the removal of everything but IOs then there obviously does need to be an alternative for F2P/Premium. -
All of the vanguard stuff that I unlocked using vanguard merits prior to I21 appears to have locked itself. This includes costume pieces and the costume change emote (vanguard sigil).

Hello everyone!
I recently reactivated my account in preperation for GR and was not all too surprised to see the game was a bit emptier than I remembered it. However there were still a few heroes out and about so I carried on.
Today, at around 11:30AM (yes, midday on a workday!) the alert came up that that big pile of rotting flesh and bones Adamastor was up. I tried to gather a team, but only one person showed up initially and we were barely denting him. I put out the call on some global channels and tried my hand at the search function and got a few more people together. We were tickling him a bit but not very quickly. Over time a few more heroes trickled in and we really started to see progress! Soon we had a full team beating this guy down and lo and behold, he was dead! Cheers all round...
But the team was not yet done! Someone suggested we go and fight Lusca. I knew this was a somewhat more formidable foe than one mere over-sized zombie, so I sought more help. The tentacles offered resistance at first, it almost started to look like we might have to give up... but then some more people passed by, alerted by the small gathering of heroes no doubt! They were summarily dragged in to fight for the cause. With a few more shouts on global channels we rallied some more heroes and the tentacles really started to go down quickly. I was continually making our progress known on broadcast so any heroes in the area would know that the battle was surely going our way and so might be more encouraged to join in.
Then the finale: Lusca's head itself. This was a lot tougher. We were hardly making any progress and it seemed that there were not many more reserves to draw upon. Then, someone suggested they bring in their radiation defender! An idea, surely it couldn't hurt to try? It did indeed hurt... Lusca that is! Soon we began chipping away at that nefarious red bar and before long she was downed! The heroes were successful once more! By that time however, it was past lunchtime and with food freshly made (octopus is quite nice you know) who could resist?
You might be wondering why I made this huge post. Well, I just felt like writing it because it was so much fun and frankly quite a surprise to see heroes banding together like this to take down a common foe. Even this late in a game's lifespan, it still happens!
Another thing I noticed is that quite a few people didn't know what Lusca was, where Adamastor was located or how to get to Dark Astoria etc. I took this as a sign that we are still getting new players and hopefully they will have had fun today
I just want to give out a huge thanks to everyone who took part, hopefully they read these forums but if not it doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts after all!
Doom? What doom?
P.S.: Huge thanks to Blue Rabbit for bringing along the aforementioned Rad defender. It definitely tipped the scales in our favour!
P.P.S.: NO thanks to GM_Mae, who didn't even reply to my tell requesting help against Adamastor when I saw her in the player list ;p -
He's mad! MAD I TELL YOU!
Which can only be a good thing, considering he's a costume designer -
I really like, well, all of the changes announced so far. The mission architect is obviously a great plus to the game, hopefully should improve the longetivity and 'I've-reached-50-now-what?' problem.
The Day Jobs system looks really interesting, and I'm excited to see how it'll intertwine with current gameplay elements and unannounced elements in the future.
Finally, thank goodness the villains are finally getting an empath powerset! -

Actually, I have a progress update for you with regards the forums.
Dungeon Runners has now switched over to the new software (vBulletin), which they have been testing for a while. Assuming everything goes smoothly with the DR implementation, you can expect new CoH forums running on vBulletin to appear soon™. No, I can't give you an exact date.

Thank the lord, I absolutely love vBull and it's about time this forum used it :P
