I recently reactivated my account in preperation for GR and was not all too surprised to see the game was a bit emptier than I remembered it. However there were still a few heroes out and about so I carried on.
Today, at around 11:30AM (yes, midday on a workday!) the alert came up that that big pile of rotting flesh and bones Adamastor was up. I tried to gather a team, but only one person showed up initially and we were barely denting him. I put out the call on some global channels and tried my hand at the search function and got a few more people together. We were tickling him a bit but not very quickly. Over time a few more heroes trickled in and we really started to see progress! Soon we had a full team beating this guy down and lo and behold, he was dead! Cheers all round...
But the team was not yet done! Someone suggested we go and fight Lusca. I knew this was a somewhat more formidable foe than one mere over-sized zombie, so I sought more help. The tentacles offered resistance at first, it almost started to look like we might have to give up... but then some more people passed by, alerted by the small gathering of heroes no doubt! They were summarily dragged in to fight for the cause. With a few more shouts on global channels we rallied some more heroes and the tentacles really started to go down quickly. I was continually making our progress known on broadcast so any heroes in the area would know that the battle was surely going our way and so might be more encouraged to join in.
Then the finale: Lusca's head itself. This was a lot tougher. We were hardly making any progress and it seemed that there were not many more reserves to draw upon. Then, someone suggested they bring in their radiation defender! An idea, surely it couldn't hurt to try? It did indeed hurt... Lusca that is! Soon we began chipping away at that nefarious red bar and before long she was downed! The heroes were successful once more! By that time however, it was past lunchtime and with food freshly made (octopus is quite nice you know) who could resist?
You might be wondering why I made this huge post. Well, I just felt like writing it because it was so much fun and frankly quite a surprise to see heroes banding together like this to take down a common foe. Even this late in a game's lifespan, it still happens!
Another thing I noticed is that quite a few people didn't know what Lusca was, where Adamastor was located or how to get to Dark Astoria etc. I took this as a sign that we are still getting new players and hopefully they will have had fun today
I just want to give out a huge thanks to everyone who took part, hopefully they read these forums but if not it doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts after all!
Doom? What doom?
P.S.: Huge thanks to Blue Rabbit for bringing along the aforementioned Rad defender. It definitely tipped the scales in our favour!
P.P.S.: NO thanks to GM_Mae, who didn't even reply to my tell requesting help against Adamastor when I saw her in the player list ;p
