Astute observation. Certainly under the F2P and micro transaction model, player housing could be feasible if the technical hurdles could be overcome.

Quote:While it has fallen into the common vernacular in the noted usage, it is still incorrect. A question may begged to be asked, but that is not begging the question in the logical sense. I would daresay add, most who incorrectly use it haven't the slightest notion of the traditional definition of the phrase -- making context a meaningless frame of reference."To beg the question" is only a reference to that fallacy in the context of discussing logic and associated fallacies. Context is important in understanding language. Also, while a person may raise a question, a situation may only beg for a question to be raised. Thus, a questionable situation begs the question that the speaker is subsequently raising.

Thanks for organizing it Placta. A shame we didn't get any of the badges. I truly marvel at peoples' inability to follow even the most basic, freakin' instructions.
And, to fail both Loves a Challenge and Green Stuff on the first freakin' obliteration beam.....sheesh.
Perhaps I need to resign myself to never getting MoKeyes. I'll be back for more futility next week, though. -
Two egregious examples of butchering the English language that cheese me off:
1. "I could care less." This makes no sense. Should read as, "I couldn't care less."
2. "It begs the question, why does X do Y?" These people should be strung up. To beg the question is to commit a specific fallacy in logic. It is more commonly known as the circular argument. To beg the question is not intended to literally reference a question. To do this, the correct phrase is "it raises the question." -

This thread hasn't seen any chatter. Is this still planned for tomorrow (Sunday)?

Quote:Pretty sure I can make that with my PB. Thanks for organizing. We'll be getting a later start this week to avoid conflicts with Amygdala's Master of the Underground run. I'm going to set the target start time for 5:30 EDT to allow time for the Underground trial to run long. -er.
Because of the late start, I'm only going to plan one run for this week, trying for Bunker Buster, Avoids the Green Stuff, and Loves a Challenge. If there's enough interest, I may go again for Anti-Anti-Matter and any that we missed the first run.
Again, please color Rebirth destinies, and other powers that could cause confusion with the Obliteration Beam, something other than green.
Pocket D, Sunday, October 2, ~5:30 PM EDT.

Actually, there's three tabs in the LFG window. Regular and incarnate are two. The third is for Holiday trials, where presumably the Halloween trial will be listed.

Seconded. Thanks for forming this up Placta. I was happy to add the Anti-Anti Matter to my badge roll, but slightly disappointed in the second run failing to get any badge (what is it with Bunker Buster that turns players into dithering idiots? -- I have yet to even get close to a successful Bunker Bust, as they've all failed on the first damned bunker).
I'll wait for your thread for next week's run.
Thanks again! -
Interesting. I don`t mind the yellow. What does puzzle me is that the system is voluntary. What`s the point, then?

Quote:You pretty much sum it up nicely -- good memory. It's not run as often as BAF of Lambda. That said, it actually can be run fairly easily by a team that knows what it's doing, in 20-30 minutes, about the same time as Lambda.Oh good. Can people die earlier and stay dead for Veng then?
Did leagues ever get into a routine of running Keyes like the other two? From what I remember around late June it just looked like this trial was ridiculously over-engineered and people would never get into a daily habit of running it.
What's in the final battle? something like:
1) +/- charges get assigned to players and the two types should try to stay away from each other
2) Green laser of holdy holdy doomsauce
3) Time stoppage
4) 3 healing terminals
5) Decay for not moving
6) One person randomly disintegrating
7) Everyone taking periodic damage (or does that stop in the final phase?)
8) Timer
That's almost enough effects to create a new power set. I just couldn't imagine anyone choosing that experience over a BAF or Lambda
But, the devs bumped up the Empyrian merits to two (for first completion in a 24 hour window) in a bid to get more players to run it.
Personally, I enjoy the Keyes. I didn't at first, admittedly, but now that we've got the routine down pat, it's a fun trial to run. -

I'm a seven year vet, but must admit the Paragon Rewards system has been flummoxing my ol' grey matter. I had seven tokens when I21 went live, and have only spent one of them so far (the /vault command was an instant must-buy for me). So, this thread has cleared up a lot of details for me, and I'd like to thank everybody who has posted a reply to the original poster.
I'm still a little confused as to the consumables in the Tier 9 VIP level.
1. If I burn a token in a Tier 9 VIP slot, the costume pieces for that slot are unlocked for all characters, account-wide. Is that correct?
2. If that is correct, are the pieces automatically available in the character creator, or do they need to be claimed in-game first?
3. And, when the Tier 9 VIP slots are rotated to new rewards, I still have the pieces that I unlocked already available through the character creator?
Thanks in advance. -
Quote:Don't feel to badly. My initial interpretation was the same as yours, I thought it was a costume set. It was only after reading a few of the responses by players that prompted a re-reading of the original post.I bought it and now I feel like an idiot because I wasn't paying attention:
1) I thought it was actually a new costume set available when I saw it and didn't research it properly. I was shocked when I realized it was a costume code and I have nobody to blame but myself.
2) I've essentially validated the outrageous price by buying it (and again, that's on me), but I won't make that mistake in the future. It's way too expensive. -

Let me just /sign pretty much everything that's already been said. Putting this thing, price wise, at the same level as Beam Rifle is simply insane. I *might* pay 50 pts for a costume toggle power. Heavy emphasis on *might*.
- The Beam Rifle cost was perfect. Bought without blinking an eye.
- The Rocket Board cost was perfect. Bought without blinking an eye.
- The *SALE* cost for 6x Server Transfer was pretty good. Bought after a few blinks.
- This price for a costume toggle was instantly rejected outright in my mind before I had a chance to blink.
That's a pretty big disparity in my reaction.
In the same vein, I was shocked when I went to see how much unlocking a 6th+ costume slot would be. 800 points! 800? 800. When I can save and load costumes at will to/from my hard drive, this price is just ridiculous. I honestly expected the price to be around 50-100 points or so.
And, there really ought to be something for sale at lower price points. I have 30 points remaining from my shopping spree, and there's nothing (that I could find) at that price point. There should be some miscellaneous flotsam that can be priced down there. -
Saw you in the global channels yesterday. Welcome back.

The Doorbuster badge is just for logging into the game during the VIP Head Start period. It's similar, in that regard, to the anniversary badges. Nothing to do with Exalted server (speaking as one who has Doorbuster, but hasn't ventured anywhere near Exalted server).

Yes, Amygdala ran some MoKeyes in late August, after I'd posted my original message. Unfortunately, I hadn't been monitoring the Champion server forum, so missed out.
Ran a couple Keyes badge runs last night, going specifically for Loves a Challenge, and Avoids the Green Stuff. Two attempts, both failures. Very frustrating, with one player getting caught in the Obliteration beam literally in the dying seconds of the trial. -
