    Man... we EARNED that badge!

That one's getting proudly worn for some time to come.

    your turn :P
    I LIKE that idea!
  6. Ok, listen... when someone is trying to point out that not everyone uses the forums - which IS a true statement... in fact, I suspect that it's a pretty small percentage of people who use the forums...

Make sure you make it flammable so we can act out the burning him at the stake for his failure to tweet!

  8. I hope I'm not about to get run over from two different directions here....

But I think a couple people are getting way more worked up than is really called for.

Frosty is saying, I think, that not everyone is active on the forums and suggesting that we should look for ways that depend less on the forums and easily overlooked messages like channel MoTD. He's NOT saying that someone (who would probably end up being me) should take him by the hand and lead him around.

Stalemate is saying that he worked really hard on this, and did everything he could think of to promote this.

So, yes... there is a real lack of methods to spread information to those who do not frequent the forums that is frustrating to those who are trying to plan and promote events.

However, that's the situation we have. So... there is a need for a better way to spread this information. My suggestion is going to be to find a better way to REFER people to the forums.

    I would totally attend LaylaCON.

And Layla, don't let Frosty worry you. He's grumpy. And mean. And cantankerous. Did I mention mean?

I'm aware that we could have promoted more in game, but I wonder what other means we could have used outside of community reply assistance.

    But...

The Protector Vigilance channel linked to it. Other channels were encouraged to mention it.

The official threads in the Protector and Events sections were placed weeks in advance. Other threads were placed in other sections, such as RP.

The calendar was updated with the info, which in turn fed the Twitter announcements. (plug: new interface)

Public channels were spammed before and during.

P.E.R.C. had an event on Friday night which served as a kickoff.

What else could have been used?
There comes a point when you've done all you can do... you've posted it on the forums, you've discussed it in global channels, and spamming it on broadcast just annoys people.

I wonder if you could find a way to make use of an idea like an old fashioned "calling tree."

Whenever we have one of our drama bombs, people love to trot out the accusation of being cliquish... can we use that to our advantage? A bit of word of mouth? "Hey, you.. well-known-and-respected-person-in-your-circle-of-friends, why don't you spread the word to your friends? And I'll get this other well-known-and-respected-person-in-their-circle-of-friends to talk to HIS buds.... " Talk to people about putting in the SG message of the day, discussion on coalition chat...

But in the end, there comes a point when it has to become the players responsibility to at least LOOK at the forums.

    Now, having said all that...

My canceled event. I needed seven people for it, and I put out the call, once. I got one response from someone. So, I had me, Major T who got dragged into it, and the one person who did volunteer. I had a promise to "get back to me," but that person never did. If I could have even gotten to 4 people, I might've been willing to try it, but I didn't. I only had three.

So... I most certainly could have sent out another request, and I could have started harassing my friends. Instead, I waited for someone to get back to me... and in the end, I didn't have the people I needed and my event couldn't go forward.

I have to take a large share of the responsibility for not advocating for myself and my event. I shouldn't have just sat back and waited for volunteers. So, I claim at least equal responsibility for that failure.
  12. I kinda like Triumph as well. Despite the fact that Sentai Sage plays there.

    A not real rant!

Not a request for your stuff.

Some of us chose a smaller server BECAUSE it was smaller.

I oppose this suggestion with a fiery passion that actually ignites dry materials within 10 feet of me.

    Keyes iXP

Numerous people are complaining about the vastly reduced iXP since the patch. My suspicion is that it's dividing it among everyone on the team, even the ones who can't earn it.
  20. Thank you for posting this. Very helpful.

I'm willing to wait and see... I am actually not a "doooooom" person... but very much feeling that way about this already. I've been here a long time and don't want to leave... but *shrugs* Like sooner said... will try to keep an open mind.
As I read it... you'll continue earning vet badges.

I have been four f'in badges away from all of them since this thing started... if I can't even get those last few... I will be PO'd! ...but I don't think that's what's goin to happen.
  24. I have very mixed feelings about it, and MOST of them have to do with my home on Protector.

I don't want to transfer any of my characters to a VIP server... they belong here. I don't want to lose my friends to another server...

As to the rest of it... I'm willing to keep an open mind.
