Quote:Yes, as a 69-month vet, that's kind of what I'm proposing. The Devs have already set a couple of precedents for this, the latest one being that Issue 17 will allow people access to the VEATs/EATs at level 20 instead of 50. I would be all for bumping up people to the current vet reward range every anniversary for free instead of using the in-game store. What you are asking for completely defeats the purpose of the system in question.Quote:
Veteran Rewards Program
This program rewards our fans for their time spent supporting and playing City of Heroes® and City of Villains®!
Setting Epic ATs to unlock lower doesn't. No comparison.
Veteran Rewards FAQ:
All this information was available before launch of the program, and is still accessible from the main website.Quote:Q: My account is no longer active. Can I still receive my rewards? A: Yes. All you need to do is reactivate your account via credit card or game time card and the appropriate level of awards will appear for your characters. Just log in and they will be waiting for you. Note: the time that your account was not active does not count towards your rewards.
Q: Can I pay for a certain number of months into the future in order to receive my rewards now?
A: No. The rewards are for the number of months with an active paying account and this only applies to past time, not future time.
Q: I have multiple accounts, some newer than others. Will my rewards for my oldest account apply to my other accounts as well?
A: No. Rewards are specific to each account.

Even after I've gotten them, I still can think of better uses for my computer than to AFK for a badge. This last week in particular for the Immortal badge was highly annoying to me.

Thanks again all for the congratulations.
Nericus, I think we all have our least favorite badge types. My list is between AFK badges (looking at you Epics), Day Job badges, and the PVP badges. -

Quote:Sorry, I meant a load/save .DDS plugin for Photoshop. We really shouldn't mention that other program though. There's a plugin for .texture files? Huh. I have to extract as .DDS, convert to .PNG, edit, copy, paste over existing .DDS, and then create a .texture from the .DDS file.
Thankfully, I found a .DDS plug-in for PaintShop Pro.

Quote:Lets see, I've just got my 60 month reward. That works out around $900 ($15 a month for 60 months) in money, and thousands of hours of play time. And you want someone who hasn't supported the game or has only supported the game for 18 months to push their way in front of others for a mere $20?I have been playing with a lot of people that have been in the game less than 18 months lately and an idea came to me. I wonder if we could be given an option in the in-game store for people to buy up their veteran status. For a small fee (say 19.99) someone could increase their veteran status to the most current setting. I think that allowing everyone in the game to possess all of the veteran abilities would be a good thing at this point.

In the grand universe of stupid ideas, this is the pinnacle of stupid ideas.
The Veteran Reward system is a loyalty program. Loyalty programs do not succeed if you allow people to queue-jump.
What you are saying is that you signed up with a Master Card loyalty reward system (to give an example) that offered 1% rebate on purchases, yet you want them to give you $1,000 because you only spent $100 so far. Give me a break. -
So am I. I'm sure that people that have gotten to know how I post know that I was joining in on it. That is the problem with having a dry as dirt sense of humor. Sometimes people don't know that I'm joking or acknowledging their joke. Such is life.

Quote:Channel limit is 2,500 accounts. TW 2.0 was created September 2008, I think.I don't recall what the channel limit is or how old TW 2.0 is, but I don't see any reason to get overly aggressive on the range. At least in the begining if it's going to be set at all I'd lobby for 365 to be the minimum, unless at some point the channel actually fills up again.

Thanks all for the support of our mutual hobby.
I'll likely recreate some badges as vector art during my "off" time.
Edit:
Something like these.

As of today, my main badge character has all badges (except Bug Hunter) on her that she can get. Currently that means no Bug Hunter, Passport, or any Vet Reward above the 60 month reward.
Badge #696 was Immortal. I really hate the Epic damage badges. Congrats to those with the patience to get them at 1 billion damage. -
Quote:Get it at (it will be updated for Issue 17):Yesterday while beacon-hunting, someone remarked to me that there was some way to get the badges displayed on your map. How is this accomplished and what are the devs official stance on this?
http://www.vidiotmaps.com/downloads.php
As far as the stance. It is purely unofficial, but it doesn't modify any game files. It has existed for years now, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't complain to NCsoft if anything goes wrong (I use it myself, as do many others). -

Quote:There you go.Here's what you do:
Get 8 people at an Arena Terminal. Pocket D works best, because you can have Heroes and Villains.
Designate one person to be the Lead, and decide what order you're going to earn the badge(s) in, i.e. who will be the first person to earn the badge(s), who will be the second person, etc.
The Lead will click on the Terminal, and create a Swiss Draw event with a 10 min. time limit. The lead will then invite the 7 other people to the Event.
When the event starts, it will auto-load all 8 of you into the Arena. Each map will randomly have two people on it. Wait for the loud, annoying Horn sound to announce the start of the match. Then, everyone but the person who was pre-determined to earn the badge will click the Exit button on the Compass. The first 4 to do this will be eliminated. The remaining 4 will advance to Round 2.
When it says a Winner has been declared, the pre-determined badge earner, and the other three, may exit via the Stats window that pops up.
After a 2:00 timer, the remaining 4 will be auto-loaded into the Arena. As before, everyone but the person who was pre-determined to earn the badge will wait for the loud, annoying Horn sound to announce the start of the match, and then click the Exit button on the Compass. The first 2 to do this will be eliminated. The remaining 2 will advance to the final round.
When it says a Winner has been declared, the pre-determined badge earner, and the other "winner", may exit via the Stats window that pops up.
After a 2:00 timer, the pre-determined badge earner and the other person will auto-load into the arena. The person who wasn't pre-determined to win will wait for the loud, annoying Horn sound to announce the start of the match, and then click the Exit button on their compass. The pre-determined badge earner will be declared the Winner, and shortly after will be awarded the Tournament Victor badge. If they have the other new Arena Badges, they will also be awarded the Arena All-Star accolade badge.
Once it says Badge Earned!, and you've verified you got the badge(s) (Menu -> Badge), you may exit the Arena Map via either Exit button.
Congratulations!! One person has earned the "Swiss Draw" badge, Tournament Victor!!
Now you just repeat that for the other 7 people, until everyone has the badge(s).
Note: Make sure you have at least an hour to dedicate to doing this. It takes 6 mins. for one person to get the badge, plus load times, and Event Creation and Invitation. That's a minimum of 48 mins. just for the 3 Arena Auto-Loads for all 8 people.
Good luck, and happy badging!!
By the way a search for "swiss" in the badge section revealed this information in the top 5 results as it was only posted last month. -
Quote:Where exactly does it say that the rewards are exclusive for not switching?Still....they do promise exclusive rewards for not switching, or staying as a "pure" hero or villain, makes me wonder if the upcoming INCARNATE levels are that reward?
Every time I saw the rewards in GR mentioned by a red name, it was with the developer saying that the rewards would be available to everyone. They did mention that the reward would take longer to get for those that switched though.
I need to really find that post/article.
That said, there might be a reward for fully switching and going back to the original alignment for all we know. -
The last person I got annoyed with on a Master run was a tank that waded through a couple of mobs in front of the door to the Thorn Tree. I was at said door trying to get a couple of squishies inside (ok, I was on my FF/Ice controller, but I'm generally less squishy than others). I didn't really appreciate having several bosses, LTs, and minions descend on me. On the other hand it didn't matter as someone inside the cave tried to unsuccessfully stealth to the tree.

Quote:Initially I was thinking 3 months, but 6 months (180 days) could be good a good starting point. If we needed to get more aggressive then it could be reduced. If it seems too aggressive, we could lengthen it.I would think that 365 (so anyone who hasn't logged in for a year) would be a good setting.
I don't know if there are any mods left on the old Triumph Watch channel. If there was, I'd assume that they would have set it from private a long time ago. I left it myself over a year ago.Quote:Fully aware that asking this may mean thrown objects and groans, but I'll do it anyway... TW was shut off from inactive accounts occupying the member list until no one new and active could join, hence the birth of TW2.0 (and subsequently, 2.1).
If this command could prune the old accounts from our first channel's logs, does this mean we can get TW 1.0 back? -
Quote:I had one person from Victory * (regular poster in this section and another from the Victory who is a very frequent poster in this section that agreed with him) and another from Guardian (not a frequent poster) that disagreed with me when I said "the Master of badges are a great way of splitting the community rather than bringing them together." I went on to say "that they need focused teams, and if someone has a badge character that isn't 'perfect' they get shoved to the back of the team line."Build community? Who was the "person" that said that? The only community I've seen built from the Mo's is the Community of Haves vs Have Nots, and a plethora of primadonnas. "How dare you ask questions, follow orders and shut up! This mission is always done this way, blah blah I don't want to hear another strategy! Kiss my feet or don't run with us ever again! I don't like the way you run your character, go to blazes!" etc. Definitely not good for the overall community.
The initial response was:
Yeah, I didn't understand that reasoning either.Quote:they have been a great source of teamwork and people giving to others.
* Trying to follow closed section rules by not repeating full closed conversations or posting exactly who said what.
I know of one person that hasn't got the MoSTF yet, but almost no one is willing to help her get it. She is trying her best, but people rather farm merits through speed runs than to try a Master badge run on Triumph.Quote:Hurt feelings? More like bruised egos from some. "Oh great, so and so was standing the spot randomly chosen by the game for the ambush to spawn after we blew up that cyst and their squishy toon got killed, he won't run with us again!"
I'm not going to agree with either the monkey or empath changes, but I'd get behind the other two.Quote:The Mo badges have been a bad idea since day one, adding more was a worse idea. Frankly, I don't think I'd care much if they decided to YANK them from the game and strip them from all that won them.
I'd rather they raise the rikti monkey badge requirement to one million rather then add any more Mo badges.
I'd rather they put the extra zero back into the Empath badge requirement then add more MO badges
I'd rather they CONSOLIDATE THE SERVERS then add more Mo badges.
