Quote:Curiously enough, Croatoa had a level restriction for a month, but that was set after it went live (bug). I had a couple of low-level characters there that were there, but if they left they couldn't return.Ah yes, I had not considered the level restriction. Since it was abolished, it's easy to forget about. lol
Let's not forget all the Turrets.Quote:And now that you mention it, though the Croatoa spawns can be large, they aren't of the caliber of Underbosses hiding around the corner like Striga has.
No problem. -
Croatoa originally launched with free access to the zone (it wasn't level restricted). Up until recently, Striga was level 20+. Striga has larger spawns, with more boss-level critters.

Quote:I believe that was my point.I think the argument is that the City Traveller vet reward frees up a power selection. Sadly the people making that argument are ignoring the fact that the various temporary travel powers we have available free up two power choices.
Thanks to the temp powers we never have to take a permanent travel power.
-
Quote:Unlikely. They should make some less flashy versions of the vet costume pieces though or put alternate versions in paid expansion packs. Oh wait, they do that already for some pieces.Costumes as vet rewards - especially oft-requested pieces like trench coats and wings - were mostly likely a colossal mistake, and if the devs could take them back they probably would.
No, there are more people willing to wait because the system as it is, is fairly applied to all accounts. -
Quote:What? Okay so you're still focused on the travel power reward huh? The following shows that there are options besides vet rewards or taking dedicated powers:Maybe that should show you that City Traveller, at the very least, is a bad reward for supposedly "fair" system?
Real money options:
- Mini-booster: Temporary 30 Day Jetpack $5, 30 real days unlimited flight power on all characters on the account.
- Super Booster IV: Martial Arts grants Ninja Run, level 4 onward on all characters.
- Good Vs Evil in-game pack (or if the account doesn't have it, the full GvE edition): Pocket D Teleport and Jump Jet (though that is only 30 seconds at a time.)
30 real days temp powers:
- Christmas Event (for candy canes) or Holiday cheer (random): 30 real days Jingle Jet unlimited flight power.
30 minute Temp powers:
- Siren's Call: you can buy Flight, Teleport, or Super Leap from the Siren's Call mercenaries if your faction is winning the zone.
Non-consecutive lasting temp powers:
- Level 1 onward, park your character in either Firebase Zulu (or other Shadow Shard) or Grandville for a max 30 minute (renewable) Jetpack. Get the Commuter or Pilot day job badges to refuel at any train station or Arachnos flier as well.
- Level 1 onward go to Firebase Zulu or Grandville and purchase a Jetpack for 10,000 Inf.
- Level 5-9 (50-50 chance at level 10), or with help do the Atlas Park Safeguard or Mayhem mission: Reward is a 2 hour Jetpack. (Can get once per character.)
- Level 11-14 (50-50 chance at level 10 or 15), or with help do the Kings Row Safeguard or Mayhem mission: Reward is a 2 hour Jump Jet. (Can get once per character.)
- Level 15-19 Villains - Steal a Goldbricker's Rocket Pack: 90 minutes of flight.
- Level 20-24 Villains - Sky Raider Flight Pack 60 minutes of flight. (You can flash back to get this multiple times.)
- Level 25 onward for both sides: Ouroborus Portal
Introduced with Issue 17:
- The second of the new Positron's TFs has a Jet Pack as well.
All these options are available to all players.
As for other temp powers, see this list:
http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Temp_Powers
The options are there, you just have to see them.
Class dismissed unless you can show how the vet rewards City Traveller out-powers the above available alternatives. I promise to repost this list every time I see you make the silly statement above until you come up with an answer. -
Or "degraded" alternate versions should be made available to everyone, including vets. The vet players get access to both versions, while everyone has access to concept alternate versions.

Quote:C has to wait for the time to be spent, as clearly stated in the FAQ.Its more than possible that I'm not explaining myself clearly so let me try and sort it out.
Person A has been playing regularly for 12 months.
Person B prepurchased 12 months of game time 12 months ago but has not played since doing so.
Person C has just started playing and has prepurchased 12 months of game time.
Its sort of like that math thing I (dimly) remember from high school.
A=B Because they both receive vet rewards
B=C Because they have both shown the same level of "loyalty" to the company.
Thus A=C and C should be receiving the same level of vet rewards as the other two.
Besides which you got the formula wrong because C has spent zero months. Thus A = B != C.
C has not shown the same level of loyalty as they did not have access to the game.
Think of it this way:
Let's say that Disney has a similar system to the vet rewards program. Every three months of access entitles the person a reward.
Person A goes buys a month pass each month for 12 months. He has had access to the rides for 12 months and gets 4 rewards.
Person B prepays for 12 months but can't make it to the park, but he has had access to the rides for 12 months and gets 4 rewards.
Person C prepays for 12 months but this is his first day, but he has had access to the rides for 0 months and gets 0 rewards.
Person D buys 12 months over the course of two years, he has had access to the rides for 12 months and gets 4 rewards.
A equals B equals D but does not equal C.
A = B = D =/= C
No. Read the EULA.Quote:Wait, wait, this might all be the a faulty knowledge bit on my part here. Can you get refunded for money spent prepurchasing game time?
Doing so would likely get your account banned for life.Quote:E.g If I right now went and purchased 12 months of game time then tomorrow decided to cancel my account will I be refunded that amount of money.
You failed algebra, huh?Quote:If so then you are entirely right and I have been arguing this under a false pretense. If, however, once you have paid for playtime you cannot get it back then indeed A=B=C.
And have failed to show any beyond "I want it now!"Quote:I'm not upset on my side, I'm just trying to have a reasonable logical discussion.
Except, as shown above, C does not equal A or B.Quote:Taken from the NCSoft site, I couldn't find any that actually use the word refund but that may just be because of my weazk search-fu. So logically A=B=C
The Veteran Rewards system is equally fair to everyone. The system was explained clearly before it started. If you want a particular reward, play the game and look forward to it. Failing to do so will get you labelled as a Plantar Wart aka Veruca Salt singing "I want it NOW!":Quote:As I stated I mostly want the nifty little powers that make my altititis a little easier in the lower levels.
Notice any similarities between the requests for having the vet rewards outside the program and this song? Good.Quote:Veruca Salt:
Gooses! Geeses!
I want my geese to lay gold eggs for Easter
Mr. Salt:
It will, sweetheart
Veruca:
At least a hundred a day
Mr.Salt:
Anything you say
Veruca:
And by the way
Mr. Salt:
What?
Veruca:
I want a feast.
Mr. Salt:
You ate before you came to the factory
Veruca:
I want a bean feast!
Mr. Salt:
Oh, one of those
Veruca:
Cream buns and doughnuts and fruitcake with no nuts
So good you could go nuts
Mr. Salt:
You can have all those things when you get home
Veruca:
No, now!!
I want a ball
I want a party
Pink macaroons and a million balloons
And performing baboons and ...
Give it to me
Rrhh rhhh
Now!
I want the world
I want the whole world
I want to lock it all up in my pocket
It's my bar of chocolate
Give it to me
Now!
I want today
I want tomorrow
I want to wear 'em like braids in my hair
And I don't want to share 'em
I want a party with room fulls of laughter
Ten thousand tons of ice cream
And if I don't get the things I am after
I'm going to scream!
I want the works
I want the whole works
Presents and prizes and sweets and surprises
Of all shapes and sizes
And now
Don't care how
I want it now
Don't care how
I want it now
Oompa Loompas:
Oompa Loompa doompadee doo
I've got another puzzle for you
Oompa Loompa doompadah dee
If you are wise you will listen to me
Who do you blame when your kid is a brat
Pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat?
Blaming the kids is a lion of shame
You know exactly who's to blame:
The mother and the father!
Oompa Loompa doompadee dah
If you're not spoiled then you will go far
You will live in happiness too
Like the Oompa Loompa doompadee do

The problem is that it would have a high chance to corrupt the badges for the characters transferring between. Which, in essence, is what the original suggestion is asking for.

See? The developers answered your question years ago.Quote:Q: If I paid for some of my months using game time cards, will that still count towards my rewards? A: Absolutely! Players will be rewarded for their number of months with an active account, whether they were paid for via credit card or game time card.
Q: Can I pay for a certain number of months into the future in order to receive my rewards now?
A: No. The rewards are for the number of months with an active paying account and this only applies to past time, not future time.
See the above FAQ, also the fine print:
As you can see, it is for time already subscribed, not paid in advance. Now, because of a recent bug fix in the awarding system, some players might have some vet rewards they didn't actually earn by time spent being a subscriber. The developers tried to err on the side of players when they corrected the mistake.Quote:*Active account time includes 1. the free month of game time included with the game, 2. free trial time, and 3. payments by credit card or game time card. Payments by credit card or game time card only include the paid time already incurred, not future time.
The developers did not agree when they put the system in place.Quote:From a business view I think it would be a great idea to encourage people to prepurchase large amounts of game time.
Well it is good that players can't prepurchase time then.Quote:if these people had prepurchased game time then even if they rage quit the game still has their money anyway.
Reread the above response. They don't get advanced rewards. -
Quote:No, most of the vets took shortcuts. Ouroborus Portals, Mission TPs, even base TPs to get to the various zones.Well, we did it in about 50 minutes, with relatively minor snags. (I should give up my SS permit.)
Thanks for assembling a great team. I had a lot of fun on my scrapper. -
Quote:You are in the wrong sewers. Enter the sewers, look right, go through the door. Unless you are seeing Hyrda, level 40+ CoT, and large groups of level 40+ Rikti you did it wrong. The new map pack is awesome, I was able to get all the new exploration badges, and the zone accolades...
1 Question though- while I was rabidly badging the last couple days, I decided to finish off a few history badges as well. Apparently, though, the old Academic badge in the Abandoned Sewer Network is no longer there. I went down with 2 different chars on Virtue, and where there used to be a plaque about Nemesis, there is blank wall. Anyone found it yet? -
Someone with a non-healer wanting to get the heal badges quicker.

Tell you what... I'll get a level 3 dominator on any US server and put it alongside your level 50 dominator and we can attack similar targets. You will do more damage, have more attack powers, more defences, and will out preform a level 3 character in all respects. Even if the level 3 is slotted with level 6 enhancements.

Well, yeah, that happens when you don't stick with the group and take aggro as a squishy blaster (someone else, I have no blaster over level 24). I use my Ill/Emp controller so I know better, though I've come very close to getting squashed by Aeon recently. I die when someone usually pulls an ambush into me (hint: melee shouldn't hide behind a controller).

Quote:I think I've seen most during that month I was trying to get it for myself with a stable team attempting on a regular basis (weekly 2-3 runs).Only two things I've seen cause a failed MoSTF run and that's the Thorn Tree and the Arachnos Flyer.
Ghost Widow, Thorn Tree, Aeon, Flyer, Recluse, and several "I don't give a damn" stupid mistakes like dieing while destroying web parts. Not sticking around during the ambushes while trying to find the chief and letting the squishies get slaughtered ranks up there though. -

Quote:Anniversary badges, I've been reliably informed, are using some very old tech to award. This is probably why they can't award them during another global event. The new tech for the AE Badges isn't compatible it seems. To change the old badges apparently risks the database.Anniversary badges, on the other hand, fall in right alongside "total respec of AT/primary/secondary" in why they wouldn't get done. Doable? Technically, sure. But the devs do not feel it's appropriate, or just plain don't want to.
However, and if the developers read this they are welcome to use the idea, they could with existing tech retrofit the anniversary badges to award globally by doing the following:
Character logs in with an Anniversary badge. The current anniversary badge goes hidden (from display and badge count) with the X Times the Victor badge tech and awards new AE tech anniversary badge with same graphics.
I'm guessing that the people doing the badge system (Synapse and possibly others) don't have the time to look at how old badges award due to Issue 17 bugfixes and GR focus. -
Quote:Account created Feb 12, 2005. I was wrong it was June 10th, 2005 I started actively subscribing. With the recent changes to the NCsoft account display I was off a couple days.Just as a matter of curiosity, because I've never been sure how it works exactly - on your account, what is the actually "account established" date? Is it February (Valentine's Day), Memorial Day (free reactivation in May) or June 12, 2005, the day you started to pay for it?
Anyways, before the change, I had paid vet time from June 10, 2005 plus 2 weeks and the retail packs I added to my account. Now I'm only slightly ahead of that.
I could have sworn that there was a free activation for Issue 7 and that year the anniversary badge awarded May 1st to June 30th. Hmm. Oh well.
