Quote:Three things:And, if you drive all the other peeps from the game that can't afford to pay these prices, what happens to the playerbase of this game?
First, you do realize that IOs and Purple Sets are not at all required to play or enjoy the game, don't you?
Maybe you don't.
You see, before Issue 9, there were no invention sets, no market. All we had were the standard enhancements available at the standard vendors. In I-9, the IO system was added. When this happened, the game was NOT made more difficult. The Invention system was optional. There weren't even any Purple ultra-rares yet. Those came later. The Invention System isn't vital to the game. It's FUN, sure! But it's completely unnecessary to success in the game.
So, if you find some IOs too expensive you can just stick with ordinary SO enhancements if you wish and you won't have any problem enjoying the game. If you want IOs, you don't need to get purples! You can do fine on ordinary common IOs or the less expensive IO sets. Just like you can do fine without IOs at all.
Second, making enough to afford anything in the game is up to how much time you want to invest in doing it.
Just today I logged a character in I haven't played in a long time to find they only had a pathetic 50K on them. I went and toyed in the market for about 15 minutes and turned that 50k into 7 million. I could certainly have spent another hour or so and turned that 7 mil into 70 million or more without much trouble, but 7 mil was enough for my purposes at the time so I bought what I wanted and went off to play with cash to spare.
Read the market threads here for tips on how to make money on the market. It's alot easier than you think. You can invest as much or little time as you want in it, and like anything else, the more you do it and better you get at it, the more you can make. I have characters with 100s of million on them. I used to transfer it around from character to character, but I don't usually bother anymore since I can just generate what I need for most of my characters in just a few minutes a day and transferring money is more of a hassle than it's worth. (We need an SG Bank!)
Third, don't be impatient! Think of the prices you see in the market as the "Buy It Now!" price. You can probably get it much, much cheaper if you're patient. Bid what YOU want to spend. You might be surprised when a day or two later that 10mil recipe ends up in your hands for a measly 100K or less. -
Quote:/sync is doing absolutely nothing right now to helpThis has been happening just about every minute or two on Champion. I switched to another character and it's still happening so it's time for a break. Supposedly /sync still works to shorten the mapserves but it doesn't appear in the chat box when you type it.
It seems the pervasive network problems in the west coast co-loc are striking again. -
Let me preface this by saying that this is my very first guide, so I apologize if it's not quite all it could be. Feel free to ask questions if you'd like some more info or clarification on certain points.
I've discovered that many players, old and new alike, are nervous about running missions above Challenge Level 1 (Heroic/Villainous). There is a belief that higher challenge levels means you will die more frequently and rack up debt, and that they may make the game "too difficult". I'm here to tell you that ANYONE can run on the toughest challenge ratings of the game and do great! Higher CLs are nothing to be afraid of! You don't need Mad Skillz or be slotted out with ultra-rares to be effective. With standard enhancements, a handful of inspirations, and a little pluck, you'll be running the toughest missions with the best of them!
If you've ever toyed with the idea of increasing your difficulty, but were afraid to or unsure what to change it to, then this might just help you take the plunge!
I like to encourage people to try and break out of their comfort zone in CL 1 little by little for several reasons.
First, the obvious is that higher levels often yield better rewards of all kinds: XP, Infamy/Influence, Drops... all can be enhanced by bumping up the difficulty a bit.
Second, it will also help you to become a better player. If you can handle a large +2 spawn by yourself, imagine what you can do on that eight man team! You'll learn to use every resource and power at your disposal and creative ways of tackling difficult situations.
Third, in some cases, a higher difficulty is actually easier than a lower difficulty (such as for Brutes who need longer fights to build fury). I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but I had the hardest time with my SS/Invuln brute UNTIL I put him on CL5!
And finally, because it's so much fun! Once you learn to take those risks, and readjust your comfort zone upwards on the difficulty scale, you'll wonder how you ever managed to enjoy beating up only 3 enemies who conn'ed white. You'll scan over a spawn and snort in derision that there's nothing purple in it. You'll amaze onlookers as you street sweep 10 mob spawns that are one or more levels higher than you without breaking a sweat. You'll be SUPER-Powered!
Lets start by understanding the current Challenge Ratings. When the Difficulty Slider comes out in I-16, understanding this will help you to use it as well.
Challenge Level 1 (Villainous/Heroic): We start there as a brand new Superpowered being. It's the standard setting all the other settings are compared to. Mobs con at +0 to +1 of your level on this setting and the number in a single spawn scale for the size of your team. AVs are downgraded to EBs on teams of 5 or less, and Bosses spawn as Lieutenants when solo
The other challenge levels can be compared to CL1 to determine how they modify the challenge for you.
The next thing is to really understand that CL2 isn't necessarily easier than CL3.
It's really easier to think of it as two branches above CL1: CL2 + CL4 in one branch and CL3 + CL5 in the other. The differences between these two branches is Spawn Size vs. Mob Level.
Branch One: Spawn Size
In this branch, you will face a larger number of foes.
Challenge Level 2 (Malicious/Tenacious): You will face as many foes as if your team was 1 person larger than it currently is. They will con the same as CL1, however (+0/+1). The other main difference is that AVs will only downgrade to EBs on a team of 4 or less members, and Bosses will not scale down.
Challenge Level 4 (Ruthless/Unyielding): Or as I call it "Malicious PLUS". This setting will see your team size still set to +1 person like Malicious, but foes will now spawn at difficulties as if you were one level higher (they will be +1/+2). AVs downgrade to EBs only on teams of 2 or less.
Branch Two: Mob Strength
Challenge Level 3 (Vicious/Rugged): This will scale normally for team size, but will spawn mobs as if you were one level higher (+1/+2). AVs downgrade to EBs on teams of 3 or less.
Challenge Level 5 (Relentless/Invincible): This keeps the "same team size" paradigm, but spawns mobs as if you were two levels higher (Mobs spawn at +2/+3). AVs are always AVs even solo.
What level should you pick, and when?
This is where it gets dicey and is somewhat based on playstyle, AT, powerset choices, and personal preference. I can, however offer a few guidelines.
Your First Bump: CL2 or CL3.
Where do I change my challenge level? If you've never done this before, you might not know especially if you're new to the game. There are NPCs in every zone that will help you with this. Field Analysts are the hero-side people to talk to while Villains will want to visit a Fortunata Fateweaver. They're clearly marked on your map and are typically in "safe" areas.
When to make the first bump up? There's two places you'll want to consider this:
First is probably somewhere around the mid-teens. At this point you probably have a fairly decent attack chain, you have Health if you're going the fitness route, if you're an MM you finally gotten a tier 2 pet. You're getting a handle on your character and getting confident.
Upside of boosting difficulty here: You'll push through those tough teens a bit faster.
Downside: You may run into endurance issues on some builds in the late teens.
If you find the mid-teens either still difficult, or if you try to increase your difficulty here and end up faceplanting all the time, then go back to CL1 for a little while longer. There's no shame in this. Some ATs and power sets bloom later than others and it's just not a realistic option for them prior to when they mature.
If you're not ready at your mid-teens to bump, either because you're sucking wind with endurance issues or because you don't have enough powers to fill out your attack chain yet, then the next spot would be the early 20s. I recommend level 22. Why level 22? You have Stamina and SOs. Your character is in the beginning of really maturing with both primary and secondary power sets. You'll really bloom in your 30s, but this is where you've cut your teeth and have learned your set well enough to fly out of the nest. This is the perfect time to take off the training wheels!
If you're still having trouble and can't go to CL2 or CL3 by 25, then something is wrong. Time to check your build and power choices! Check out the appropriate guide for your character's power set and AT in the forums, maybe solicit some advice for slotting, and make some adjustments!
Next, it's selecting your new Challenge Level! You'll want to feel out where you think your character shines while you're still on CL1. Are you master of single target damage? Do you grin when you see a few more mobs than normal? Can you AoE your way through just about anything? Are you thrilled at the prospect of fighting the end boss? This will determine which "branch" of the Challenge Levels you'll want to pursue.
If you like being surrounded by alot of enemies to AoE or enslave with confuses, or just like BIG fights, etc, you'll want to select CL2.
If you like duking it out with the tough guys mano-a-mano, then select CL3.
If you're unsure, odds are you'll probably want to select CL3 for your first bump, as that is often easier for those who aren't sure what they're ultimately going to be an expert at. You may need to experiment, however, as everyone is different. Generally though, CL3 is rarely a bad choice for your first upgrade.
A word of warning, CL2 and 4, specificially, can be overwhelming for large teams, especially in PuGs. I'd advise to sticking to the odd challenge level settings (CL 1, 3, 5) when in a large team unless your team are all very good.
Your first mission on your new challenge level!
When you first bump up, this is NOT the time to invite everyone to a PuG and try out your new difficulty. This is a recipe for disaster and disappointment. Instead, it's best you either go it solo or bring one or two friends with you (at most). This first mission is going to be a little scary if you've never run on a higher difficulty before, so having a little support to boost your confidence is ok, but don't over do it. This is YOUR show!
The first time you look at that seemingly endless spawn or bright colored group of mobs may be intimidating. But don't worry! You're a SUPER Hero/Villain! You can handle them! Be confident! Review your powers, including the ones that have just sat in your tray unused before now because you never needed them. You may be calling on them today!
Make sure your inspiration tray is full! Keep some greens and purples on hand, and a few of whatever else you find useful for your build (breakfree, yellows, etc). If you're not feeling too confident, pop a purple. Do NOT be shy about using inspirations! You'll get more throughout the mission and can combine ones you don't want into something you need on the fly. Using inspirations does not mean you're cheating or that you're weak or a bad player. They're part of the game and are meant to be used! The best players always stock themselves with the best inspirations!
Review your temp powers for an extra "oomph" if you get in trouble. You probably won't need them, but it's nice to have an ace up your sleeve (in at least one case, literally!)
Now it's time. Jump in there! Don't be shy! You have nothing to fear. Nothing at all! Smile grimly and show them why they're making a mistake messing with you! Attitude COUNTS!
It may be a hard fight. You've never had to face this kind of opposition on CL1, so it'll be a new experience. But just like when you learned to face enemies as a new player, you'll quickly find your footing. You'll figure out how to deal with tougher spawns. If you're a brute, you'll find that your fury is building so much faster than it ever did before. If you're a dominator, you'll find domination coming up so much more often. You'll find your inherent powers making a bigger difference across the board. You'll surprise yourself. You might die once or twice. This IS new for you. Don't get discouraged. Swallow inspirations as needed and with abandon. By the end of your first mission, you'll already have a better grasp on both your powers available to you and how to handle those tougher spawns. You're on your way. Just two or three more missions and you'll never look back!
The Second Bump. CL4 or CL5.
Now that you're comfortable with your new challenge level, you might be eyeing bumping your difficulty again. If not, you eventually should be!
Normally, I make my second bump somewhere in the late 20s to the early 30s. 28 is probably a good benchmark for the low end, with 35 being the high end, with a level or two variance either way for different ATs and builds. If you're not able to run on CL4 or 5 by level 38, you've again gone down the wrong path somewhere with your build and should give it another peek.
Which level to pick? This, again, depends on playstyle, powersets, and the like, but I find that I enjoy CL4 for soloing (or small teams 3 or less) and CL5 for big teams (4 or more). Like CL2, Challenge Level 4 can be difficult for large PuGs. I'd only team on CL4 if you have a truly awesome team. However, on some ATs or builds, I prefer CL5 for solo (such as with Stalkers, who excel at single target damage). By this time you're familiar enough with your playstyle and powerset that you should know what you prefer: tougher mobs or more mobs, but here's a rough guide:
Single Target Damage Dealers (Stalkers, Scrappers, non-AOE brutes, etc): go with CL 5. You want to learn to beat down the big dogs, solo AVs and EBs and not muck around with tons of smaller mobs swarming you.
AoE Specialists and Controlling ATs (Dominators, Nuker Corruptors/Blasters, AOE Brutes, etc): choose CL4. You want to really maximize your AoEs and group controls. You shine when in the thick of a large number of enemies. You'll also appreciate learning to control and juggle large crowds, which will increase your effectiveness on big teams.
The Team Leader: If you team alot, you'll want to stick with CL5 (if a high level, decent team) or maybe even a lower challenge level (such as CL3) if you run PuGs where the skill level varies alot. That said, I've run alot of PuGs on CL5 from 35 up without much trouble. You'll need to find where your comfort zone is on this, however. For Strike Forces and Trials with PuGs, I find I am most comfortable with CL3. It still provides a fun challenge, but is not so intimidating as to cause people to drop out of the team. Again, you will need to find your own comfort zone here.
A word about AE "Custom Critters": generally custom critters are more difficult than normal foes of the same level. If this means you'll want to lower your diff a bit in the AE compared to regular content will depend on how comfortable you are in your current challenge level. If you find that even on CL4 or 5 that you're in no serious danger and can pummel anything into dust, then the AE may add a refreshing new dimension to the game for your chosen CL. If you're just squeaking by on your difficulty still, you may want to lower it down a bit. I rarely lower my difficulty in the AE, but I've been playing at higher CLs since 2006, and experience IS the best teacher. Once more, I recommend experimenting. What's the worst that can happen? You aquire a little debt and need to go visit a field analyst/fortunata.
Summary: higher Challenge Levels are nothing to be afraid of. Anyone can run on the highest difficulties and be successful. Experiment with the difficulty levels at key points in your career, and find the ones that you're most comfortable with solo and in teams. Have a positive "I can do this!" attitude. Be a tough guy/gal! Running on Villainous is fine for n00bs, but you can do better! Pack inspirations, learn your powers, and believe in your own ability and you'll be mopping the floor with that EB or AV you never thought you could handle in no time, and really feel SUPER! -
Quote:You said "THE speculation is..." not "MY speculation is" which is a distinct difference. In the first case, you're implying that there's some kind of causual evidence. In the second you're just making stuff up like the rest of us. And the articles you linked to? Those aren't even the authors' speculations. Did you get those speculations from the blogosphere comments? If so, then you just rejected MY anecdotal experience as being unscientific, but embraced someone ELSE's anecdotal experience because you agreed with it.Incorrect, if you bothered to read.
Again, I used the term speculation, because as far as I know, there was no testing.
Quote:They did, however, use observation, use additional questions from these and other surveys to see what peoples inclinations and preferences were, and noted that younger people ARE less likely to be in established relationships, ARE more likely to think favorable to encountering someone online leading to offline relationships and generally, ARE more uncertain of their sexuality than older people. Given that these metrics ARE there DO exist, and given that they'd dovetail rather well into an explanation of why representing gender accurately would be more important, it creates a nice working hypothesis for future research.
Any guesses why that is the case is entirely groundless based on your beliefs about what being an older male means. It's not scientific. It's you reading what you want to see into statistics. I can read those same statistics to say that married, older men secretly want to be girls and are MORE confused about their sexuality, not less... and there is JUST as much proof of that as your conclusion. In fact, I'd argue that older generations are less likely to be comfortable with their sexuality if it veers outside the plain vanilla because lets face it, alternative sexual orientation as being anything but a snickering joke if not a source of outright hatred to most people is a pretty new thing in our society. While things still aren't perfect, most older people grew up in a much less tolerant world than we live in now. I know I sure did.
You're basically, like everyone else here except that guy who's doing the server zone fly-bys, doing nothing but making stuff up. Your imaginary evidence is no more valid than anyone else's imaginary evidence, even if you have real statistics to "support" your conclusions... because correlation does not prove causality. -
Quote:Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe neither do you use idle speculation. When dealing with aggregate data, you never use a single personal anecdote to explain every instance.
Quote:If you bothered to look, you'd see that although older married males are more likely to gender-bend, -
Quote:This is probably true. I've barely even glanced at PVP since coming back to the game in January. Before I left I had some good times in PVP, but they were few and far between. Mostly I spent time either with a big team trying to hunt down heroes who would hide in their base or out wandering around only to be jumped by a full team of heroes who would make me into applesauce in 2 seconds flat. I tried signing up for Arena tourneys but one only ever launched once and when it did, it was me and a blaster (!) against a lone scrapper who we spent 15 minutes pummeling silly.I'd suggest starting grassroots movements to introduce more people to the fun of PvP. Events, challenges, broadcasts on the appropriate channels. If you want the supply, you'll have to start your own pool of opponents and teammates.
If there were organized team oriented PVP events, that sounded like fun, I'd probably give them a chance if someone broadcast about them in game. I'd especially be interested in zone PVP with multiple teams on each side, but I know that's probably way too much to ask for.
I stopped PVPing because it was really boring (I gank you, you gank me... yawn) and hardly anyone does it (Chat: /whoall... characters in this zone: Smurch. )) If some people worked to build up PVP, I'd be tempted to at least give it another look. -
Quote:Good call.Edit: I just visited what I'd consider the "worst case scenario", Pocket D on Virtue. The split was completely even there: Male 37 / Female 36 / Huge 1. However, since dialog (in Local!) included things like, "Red Komodo turns his attention to Petite, "Come now, Petite... you know I am so much sexier..." -- I'm not counting people on THAT zone as playing the same game as everyone else.
-
Quote:I think that speculation is faulty. I have 100% male (or neuter, like robots) characters and my wife has all female and we're neither spring chickens nor are we uncomfortable in the least with our gender identities. Neither of us is out to date, and even if we were, we'd probably find somewhere better than a video game to do it.Here we see that 'gender bending' (males playing female characters) appears to be associated with age: older males are more comfortable with the concept. Speculation is that younger males may see accurate gender representation in characters as valued (hoping to possibly meet someone online, or uncomfortable in their masculinity).
My wife says male characters just "look clunky" on the screen to her and so she has a hard time enjoying playing one. She tried and said she just couldn't do it.
As for me, I've been GMing PnP games for over 25 years, which means I've roleplayed characters of all types, even roleplaying the female romantic lead opposite a male character (with the male player sitting about 3' away) without breaking a sweat, so it's not a comfort level at all. I've just frankly never been interested in creating a female character in this game. I don't know why, but I'm just not. If I had an idea for a female character that interested me, I'd play one. But I simply don't.
By contrast, I've known more college age people to gender-bend on characters than people my age. It's possible I'm just more set in my ways at this point. I don't know. -
-
I just finally figured out what everyone is talking about (yeah ok I don't really pay much attention to the left pane). What's the point of that anyways? I don't really get it? It's a way for people to leave anonymous "bugger off old timer" messages (like someone said they received) for you? Or some kind of internet popularity contest? Or both?
Either way, whatever. Turning that off right now. -

I recently have been collecting a bunch but I don't have screenshots (didn't even cross my mind... in retrospect it seems totally obvious)
Here's a few anyways. For names, I will Substitute Mary Sue for female characters and Gary Stu for male characters, they are otherwise unedited:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You know nothing of fear until you looked into the eyes of Gary The Stu. who puts fear into everone he lays his eyes on no one knows for sure how Lord Recluse was able to make an alliance with the giant. It is said that Recluse and Gary faught years ago in a battle over the orb of Duknoc which grants the holder the powers of darkness. its said that the fight had come to draw. Lord Recluse told Gary to keep the orb and they should form a alliance togather they would be unstoppable. well if thats true then he was right Gary is the right hand man next to Recluse and Ghost widow but Gary no fool he knows its only a matter of time before Relcuse and him do battle again.
----------------------------------------------------
Mary Sue as once a happy little girl in the rogue isles... untill one day a group of thugs broke into her home and killed her parents... in a desperate attempt to bring them back she discovered necromancy the attempt failed... however she learned that the thugs that broke in were working with the heroes and were killed by mistake, being accused of something they didnt even know about. angered by that fact... she began practicing this new power of necromancy. and now that she is strong enoug... she is training to punish the heroes.. for what they did to her. Thru advanced training with necromancy... it mutated her.. altering her phsyical appeance
--------------------------------------------------------
Mary Sue never wanted to be normal. The moment she could muster the dexterity to light a match, she was on the road to becoming someone special, if not psychotic. At the age of 12, she was inducted into a cult known as Bel'zar. She joined not out of isolation or despair, but rather to wreak havok on the other followers. Pyrotechnics quickly bored her, so she sought a more satisfying role within the group. The cult's leader, who had paedophilic tendancies, took Mary under his wing, teaching her the magical art of Vis Viva, the living force. However, Mary proved too apt a student and tried to incorporate her pyrotechnics with the kinetic force. This experiment succeeded, yet it left Mary with her tell-tale red scar. At the age of 14, Mary abandoned Bel'zar after killing its leader in a ritual sacrifice that ultimately transferred his powers to her. Eventually, Mary would join the Circle of Thorns where she would rise through the ranks to become an Archmage, taking on the title Villainess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
During a cloning experiment gone wrong, Gary Stu 2 gained consciousness. He escaped the lab he was in, upon learning of his true identity and status, he swore to be his own man. And make a name for himself, separate from the man he was cloned after. (( I no longer do MRP or ERP since I have finally found someone in real life.))

Quote:I don't think you quite grasp the precise issues people have with an application like gameguard. Hint: it has very little to do with the kinds of packets it's sending out. You don't seem to comprehend exactly why we'd find a rootkit (and gameguard IS a rootkit for all intents and purposes) more threatening than, say, youtube. I regularly run wireshark on my network and do quite a bit of packet analysis. That is, however, neither here nor there, as the question is not the fully informed privacy policy of an online service, but the not-fully-informed hijacking of your OS that persists even AFTER you close your browser.Aaaaaah the cute Rootkit story again. Serious, try harder.
You think that gameguard is scary? Use a packet monitor and see exactly what it sends out, then compare this to VAC (made in US), WoW, Google, youtube, MSN, or the recent news of iphone apps. Or shall we go punkbuster (again, made in US) or even the anti-copy crap of music and video CDs (several made in US)?
Because it behaves like one, doesnt mean it is. There is no case, with clear evidence, that gameguard was used for any other case other then protecting the game. Please, keep that hypocrit talk to yourself.
To state that these are even remotely similar is much like saying "you have a cell phone, so you shouldn't mind having hidden video cameras installed in your bathroom without your knowledge". There's an order of magnitude difference there in terms of privacy and risk. Now I am sure there are people who wouldn't mind having video cameras in their bathroom, but they certainly should be fully informed who has access to those cameras, where they're at, and how to remove them if they no longer want them... shouldn't they?
Remember the flap Sony got for their rootkit software on their music CDs? There's a good reason for that. It's simply unacceptable for many of us to allow a third party company to put an application on our computers without our knowledge that replaces core system files and is virtually impossible to ever remove completely, that can and does hijack our system and choose which programs can and cannot run on our systems.
How about the long list of other applications that Gameguard breaks? Does Gameguard get to decide we no longer need Motherboard Monitor or Netlimiter?
Now maybe your comfort level is ok with allowing a potentially destructive bit of software from some corporation who has yet another corporation's best interests... not yours... at heart essentially sieze control over your systems. But some of us have some concerns about that which are quite legitimate. -

Lemme guess... not every wold drops a pelt and you're competing with other players to get the wolds first.
Hooray for spawn camping! -
[QUOTE=Golden_Girl_EU;2138720]Quote:Well, it's not... as long as you don't mind that a third party company is installing software that bypasses your OS's security and safeguards that COULD possibly be used to spy on you or even take control of your computer remotely AND you feel comfortable with trusting that company both not to do that AND to keep their code up to date so that they don't inadvertently allow someone ELSE to do it, too. AND you're ok with the fact that, short of a complete OS reinstall, you'll never ever be rid of that software in your system. It's using this, in specific:

That doesn't sound too bad if it's to stop cheats and exploits.
It's probably safe. Probably. But some of us just don't trust random companies out there enough to let them effectively seize control of our OS. Especially when they do it behind our backs. -

Quote:Well, to be fair, that really was the Modus Operandi of Zeus. That and throwing mountains at gigantes. He saved the Thunder Bolt for important stuff. Mostly for intimidating his family.I hate the Statesman character because he has the powers of Zeus, and doesn't just fry all the enemies with a massive lighting storm in all directions. Instead.... he punches stuff.
Zeus was also a major jerk. Like epic-class jerk. He cheated on his wife (with EVERYONE. I mean EVERYONE)... was a deadbeat dad to dozens of kids... when his own daughter was... ahem.. sexually assaulted, he ordered her to marry the guy who assaulted her because she nibbled a bit of fruit rather than starve while imprisoned as his pleasure-slave... he changed himself into animals to sneak up on unsuspecting women to have his way with them... he tortured Prometheus because he was nice to us and prevented us from freezing to death against Zeus' wishes... and orchestrated the entire Trojan war from start to end.
All things considered, if Statesman is Zeus, he should really probably be Redside.
I think Tyrant will probably be a better model fo Zeus than States ever was. -

It CAN interfere with some other applications as well (but mainly while the game is running). It doesn't do anything without the game running. Aside from that, it's actually not very risky and is patched for vulnerabilities frequently, but it IS intrusive which alot of people (myself included) object to on basic principle (remember Sony?).Aion installs a Rootkit?
I'll let my friends know about this.
It's a common practice to utilize this software in Asian markets, due to the preponderance of gold farming. The retail US client may or may not include this software (unknown at this point) but the beta client certainly does.
Personally, I'd boycott it until they remove that "feature", if I were planning to buy it. Which I'm not anyways... but if I were teetering, this'd settle it for me. -
Quote:Yup, I drift between MA content and regular content on most of my characters. I have one I am doing almost exclusively through MA, but mainly because he's kinda particular about the kind of missions I'd like to have him do, so MA lets me zero in on those. Then you've got players like me -- and my wife and daughter -- who like to do both. We love the AE, but we also love the dev content. No reason for there to be some demarcation line between them.
But I've gone from the MA building to a regular contact and back again more than once. -
