Quote:Could you repost that in English?I just though of something REALLY good!
Lets make something so you ONLY can do at Hollaween.
Lets, make Atlas, and all the other dead heroes come to live and attack. Also you need to save there souls. After you save all the heroes souls you can go beat the Ghost Widow.... she the only person I could think of that could control souls, I guess we can make someone new -
Quote:That Aura mission CoV side is definitely tough. It's the first time you run into Succubi for most characters. Here's one that's more fun Redside: The cape/Aura missions. Heroside it's a bunch of FedEx and a stack of hunt missions, while Redside it's actual door missions, and the chance to beat up a Hero.
I do like the "defeat a hero and steal their cape". It feels like a rite of passage, which is what it is supposed to be. -
What does any of this have to do with why Redside is more fun?
Can't you take your tired moralizing and sophmoric arguing over moral relativism vs absolutism to some more relevant thread?
Lets talk about how much fun Redside is! -
Quote:I prefer "Wrongbow"I really hate Longbow, I really do. I typically call them 'condomheads' or 'Candy Canes' depending on the character i'm on.
Quote:Did I mention that I hate Longbow? That grenade they have is annnnnoying. YES. FLOOR YO' DEF and RESISTANCE. FOR SWEET JUSTICE. -
I spend less than that. I generally visit the market during the last 15-20 minutes of my session to list things I want to sell, bid on what I want to buy and collect my money from the last time I did that. It's pretty quick and easy and I'm pretty happy with my results.

Quote:Well that rules out windows being the problem, anyways. You have a hardware issue. Try another keyboard first, preferably a USB one (unless you're using USB, then go with the PS/2 style connector so you're not using the same serial bus). Thanks again gang. I attempted that method, but the problem still remains: I cannot get my keyboard to work, so therefore when it says TO BOOT FROM CD PRESS ANY KEY, it just defaults to attempting to start windows normally.
This is frustrating to say the least. -
Quote:Ah, I'll just leave a buy order in for 15 INF for a circuit board before I log out. By the time I log back in the next day, the market will have corrected, and the CB will be mine cheap.*shrug* have fun paying 150K for circuit boards because some marketeer thinks it's funny to screw you.
Marketeers prey on impatience. As long as you aren't all "MUST HAVE IT NAO!" you don't have to pay terribly unaffordable prices for much of anything.
I do about 15 minutes on the market at the end of each play session. It's not uncommon for me to be walking around with a few 100 million in INF just from market profits. From 15 minutes every few days. It ain't that hard. -
Quote:/signed.Meh, I say pick up a Safeguard mission and compare it to a Mayhem mission:
-You die, one has to break out of a fortified jail and the other is practically dropped right where they left off
-One has the enemies ganging up on you while the other has you conveniently fighting down hordes of enemies *after* you complete your objectives and *only* when you decide to go *looking* for them
-The heroes a'comin' even after beating you down.
And that's just some of the stuff that makes the mission harder. Villains also get to blow up cars and stuff which never gets old.
Safeguard missions are boring.
I still love doing Mayhems. -
Quote:Malta Group - the Sappers make brutes squeal like little girls. Beat up two big robots, only to watch them combine into one HUGE robot (which is awesome).Wailers! These things are a blast to fight with a full group.
Marcone Consiglieres: The Family ain't easy in St. Martial (every MM knows :P)
Succubi and Cold demons in the CoT roster.
A higher abundance of Paragon Protector Elites
Snakes: These guys are brutal.
Knives of Artemis - slooooow yoooouu toooo a craaaaaawwwwl with stacked Caltrops spread over 1,298,120 sq feet per encounter. This may not qualify as "more fun" however.
Longbow Ballistas - it's like chipping at a boulder with a dinner fork while the boulder shoots you point blank in the face with bazookas.
Spine Scrapper Wardens - Stalker-bane! -

Quote:Not Rikti. My /electric Brute pretty much lives in the RWZ and the Rikti can't even really touch him. I'm running as an 8 man team, too.Wailers tear up Electric Armor. Well OK, everything tears up Electric Armor.
ELA is Rikti-Proofing!
I don't recall it being tissue paper outside the RWZ, but it's been a long time since I've played him in anything but, so I can definitely state that ELA is, at the least, awesome vs. Rikti. -

Quote:Depends on how we're classifying the tomato: botanically or culinarily (is that a word)? Botanically speaking, tomato is a berry and thus a fruit, but from a culinary classification, it's a vegetable, as it is more savory than a fruit.YEAH! I don't want any stinking fruit in my salad! um, wait, tomatoes are berries....
So it depends on which method of classification you're using. -
Quote:Erm, no not usually, at least not in the cartoon and live action shows. When addressing him face to face, people usually just called him "Tick"Uh... not The Tick. He is referred to, to his face, as The Tick repeatedly, often, and pretty much every time..
as in..
American Maid: I've gotta hand it to you Tick, you've really dropped the ball this time.
The Tick: I'm telling you, Arthur, that checkout lady was giving me the hairy eyeball.
Arthur: Tick, it's called glaucoma. -
Quote:So, if you run with a tight, focused team of other players who are all of the same mindset and don't run off wasting time... you're soloing? It's solo in that you don't have team-mates to yell at or wait for while they train, sell thier drops, buy new enhancements because thiers went red, run off to ICON to change the color of thier shoes to match thier mood or while they sit around spamming invites because 7 isn't a "full" team.

Quote:Yup, this. I like below 14, I like above 20, but I truly hate those levels in between. My major complaint for a long time has, and will be until its changed a bit, been level 14-20. Endurance starts vanishing like rum around a sailor, and my accuracy goes out the window faster than Casannunda with an angry husband chasing him.
Which means being stuck fighting +0 x1 missions. Which means slower levelling. I play odd hours these days, thanks to the Uni nets firewall settings and my own workload. I have plenty of SGs. All of them are RP and, when people have been on a lot of the day, evening tends to be a bit more sedate. Which leaves me in the rut. -
I was just going to suggest this. Fire up notepad first before launching the game client. Alt-Tab may work then. It's an odd bug, but it's not unique to vista, I've seen it before. Having another app running (like notepad) should work.

Quote:Right. So I should be totally understanding of everyone's reasons for wanting to do drive by buffs, no matter how tenuous, but no one should attempt to understand my reasons for NOT wanting one? He's saying you're reaching a bit with your reasons for not liking a random buff.
Got it.
Glad we got that lurking double standard that's been dominating this thread right out in the open.
Quote:And I'd rather not have your QoL suggestion. We've got too many pop-up boxes cluttering things in the game as it is.
My suggestions are being able to right click a buff icon and choose "remove buff" from the context menu, or an item in the Options Menu that was "Allow only team buffs" that we can set to "Enabled" if we don't want buffs from outside our team (that would be disabled by default). -
Quote:Yes, I can obviously take pains to compensate for the fact that someone has come by and screwed with my game. That doesn't make the situation any less annoying. You want a challenge.
You complain the drive by buffer has reduced your challenge.
This is a way to increase your own challenge if you so choose while the buff is active.
Quote:Just pointing out your whole "You're so evil for trying to help me, you should be able to read my mind, don't you dare ever do anything nice for anybody without ten forms of signed, notarized permission for each instance" is ridiculous.
Quote:A buff lasts at most four minutes. They haven't altered the entire zone. They haven't changed your character into something else. They're *trying to be nice.* Perhaps someone else did something similar for them and they're repaying the favor by doing it to others. It's not a conspiracy against you, or the OP. It's not someone trying to "ruin your fun.* It's someone doing something nice.
Quote:You *have* had people just do things for you "just because," haven't you? Give you something you'd like even when it's not a holiday or your birthday, for instance? Given your stance in this thread, I'd have to seriously wonder. As well as wonder what your reaction had been if it DID happen.
The fact that you're trying to use this thread about a particular situation in a video game to make broad assumptions about me in the real world is extremely disingenuous on your part. -

Quote:AAAAAAANNNDDD..... once AGAIN, that doesn't mean I have to LIKE IT and that I cannot SAY SO.1. People can't read minds. People see someone on the street killing mobs, and maybe having a tough time of it, and say to themselves, "Oh, I can buff him and help him out." So they do. They don't know you don't want the buff, and since 90% of the random people out there appreciate these drive-by buffs, they're not going to just stop doing it on the off chance they buff someone who doesn't want it.
Quote:Using your own logic, why shouldn't you appreciate these drive-by buffs, as once they wear off you'll have a comparatively harder time (and apparently, by your definition, a comparatively greater challenge)?
"Why don't you change the difficulty of the game to EASY so that when you change it back to NORMAL it will seem more challenging?" Why not just NOT PUT IT ON EASY TO BEGIN WITH?
Quote:As it stands, you're probably not hit with these buffs more than a few times per play session
And it happens often enough that I felt it necessary to create a macro to send a request to the buffer to please not do that anymore.
Quote:Really, your options are to either go hide in a corner of the zone to do your hunting, quit complaining when people buff you and kill stuff anyways, or just stop entirely and get no fun out of the situation. It's what you make of it, nothing more, nothing less.
However, this is a discussion thread SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THIS SUBJECT. I'm saying my piece about it. That offends you for some reason, maybe because you have a vested interest in this and think that doing drive by buffing makes you a Good Person (tm) or something and so you perceive my opinion as an attack on your ethical standing or something. I don't know, but just accept that we're not going to agree on this issue and that's all there is to it.
All I'm saying is: Drive by buffs, don't like 'em. Never have. Never will. I'd really like it if the devs gave us a QoL option to be able to remove buffs we don't want or to turn off accepting buffs from people not on our team.
Until if/when that happens, I'll continue to ask people politely not to drive by buff me when it happens in the game, and if someone starts a topic about it in the forums, I might participate if I wish to have a little catharsis and join in on a merry rant that helps to vent that pent up annoyance so that my requests in-game can continue to be polite.
I hope that's ok with you. -
You say that with sarcasm, but that is in fact the problem. I don't necessarily WANT the task to be easier. What fun is there in playing a video game if everything is too easy? Playing the game is the point to, well, playing the game. If I am engaged in a task that has a good level of challenge that makes it fun for me, and someone mitigates that challenge, they've reduced my fun. A victory without the chance of defeat is a hollow one.
What possible fun is there in that if there is no challenge? -
Quote:Coverting that back to the in-game equivalent: If I walked up to an NPC to get a mission and they said "Hey CHARACTER, OtherGuy already did this mission for you! Here's the XP and Inf. You don't have to actually do the mission", yeah I'd be pretty P-O'd about that.If you get up to the counter to pay for your coffee and the clerk says, it's alright, sir, that other woman/man/child/alien paid for your coffee, do you instantly get all swolled up and shout, "Hey, I'm not a bum! I can pay for my own damned coffee!" and insist on paying for your coffee anyways?
Quote:We need more inter-connectedness, and less feeling alone and having to single-handedly take on the world.
But sometimes I just want to do it myself. Is that so bad?
Quote:Just as an experiment, maybe you can try not thinking of them as trying to insult you or put you down and rather as just helping from the goodness of their heart. If you change your worldview, maybe the world won't seem like such a foreboding place.
I understand that they're trying to help. It's not that I misunderstand their intentions, they're misunderstanding MINE, that while I realize they're trying to help, they are actually being a nuisance because I play games to be challenged. If you remove all the challenge for me, my victory is empty and the game ceases to be fun.
Which is why when they do it, the message they get from me is a polite "Please don't do that. Thanks.". Most people seem ok with that.
If you want to play WITH me rather than try to play FOR me, then lets team up and look for BIGGER challenges that we can do together. That'd be great! I'm totally up for that. But don't just jump into my fight, adjust it to your satisfaction, then leave. It's a nuisance and will elicit a heavy sigh from me and a polite request not to do that any more. -
