On my new controller, I was trying for something kinda techy, and maybe a little bit anime influenced. But once in game, te overall effect is she looks like a soccer player lol.
Oh well, people say she kicks @$$ so maybe it fits. I think for her second costume, I'm gonna deliberately go for a soccer style.
See? Sometimes a character will just sort of find their own style! Now if only there was a sports booster pack with a soccer ball power... -
Okay, so I came back after a long time away, to try GR. I just re-upped for 3 months. Been trying some new toons, and getting back on my old ones to see what's up with the SG, and I noticed in my SG that Merryl had indeed been on about 12 days ago now. Maybe she will be back too, and the XP express can roll again.
Anyways... I finally got around to trying an Elec controller. So now my hypothetical question... (not that I would actually DO this, but just for fun)
What things could a person do to get fired from their job, so they can just collect unemployment and sit home and play their controller all day. Lol. And let's not limit it to just one job, but for any job.
Here's a couple things I thought about.
1. When I get to work, just stay in my car, and say "I'm here, that should be enough."
2. Show up in my pajamas and say, "I forgot to change clothes."
3. Overflow the toilet at every opportunity.
4. Set off the sprinkler system.
5. Stand there constantly eating candy bars, with chocolate all over my face going, "Whut?".
Well, wish I could think of some more, but I gotta go to work now grrrrr. -
@Deathstroke33
I'm kind of in the same situation. Seems like a lotta folks coming back after 1.5 - 2 years away. I'm currently trying a KM/Shield scrapper, and so far it seems pretty decent. I didn't take that crazy Torrent move, because... well, I don't wanna knock stuff away if I'm later gonna have Against All Odds, which, I think, works from havin mobs around you, like RttC in Willpower? One of those first three attacks does occasionally knock 'em away.
My plan is to take Hasten ASAP, and try to speed up this set. The first three attacks of this set actually make for some decent average damage as a chain, but around lvl 8 it starts to feel... I dunno, like it's too slow. Waiting for them to recharge becomes a pain, and you're still using vet powers and brawl to fill the gaps. Since it's still a new set, they will probly make some changes to it. I would suggest swapping places with Power Siphon and Torrent. That way you could get it earlier, and have a few clocks in it by lvl 8. (That's what I call recharge enhancers lol).
Then, change Torrent to a "Kinetic Leg Sweep" attack that just knocks everything down around you and has a chance to disorient. But anyway, I'm planning to try to speed it up, and get that 20 miserable seconds happnin more often. THEN, with AAO running, it might turn into a decent single target "buzzsaw" lol. I've never had Shield past lvl 26, and have no real experience with KM, so it's all new to me, but I think speeding it up is the only way to go, and try to get that PS perma. The damage isn't just Energy, it's also mostly Smashing, so... yeah I'm gonna need every ounce of damage later on, pounding on Maltas.
Also, I swear I read somewhere that KM's secondary effect is that it weakens the damage of the enemy? (You know, like how Dark Melee debuffs Acc?) I don't know if that's true. I don't really see any indication of it, no graphic around the mobs showing it. Also, I think they need to improve the way the PS buffs up top are displayed, so that there's more of a warning when it's about to go out.
One thing that concerns me is how long it takes the character to go thru the animation of activating PS. Is there a way to speed that up? Maybe Interrupt Time enhancers would make it activate quicker? I mean, that's a couple seconds where you're just standing there getting shot and pounded on. Not very Kineticky. It should be instant like some other build up type powers I've seen. If I'm gonna end up spamming it every 20 seconds, that's gonna get old REAL fast.
And I agree that the sound effects are irritating, sounding like some kind of demented car driven by muppets is about to come up behind you to do a drive by. It needs to be more of a "whisper version" of the kinetic sounds, and then the impacts more like Super Strength.
But anyway, I really don't wanna give up on this character. I'm already getting kinda sentimental... I was street hunting, lvl 6, clicked on a door to ToT real quick, and ended up fighting two of those sorcerreseses, a Lieut, and the other one was an orange boss! I thought I was doomed, but somehow pulled it off. Pretty epic fight lol. I summoned my buff pet a couple times to draw her fire off of me... let her waste those powers. Blackwand to the face, pound pound pound. XP. I take that as a good sign, when a toon does something like that at an early lvl. -
Thanks for all the replies everyone. :]
"although I'd suggest making use of alternate builds. One build you could go nuts with knockback to send everything flying to the 4 corners of the map, other build could ease up on knockback to be a bit more team friendly."
-YES, yes... good idear. I'm still thinking about a stupid Bots / Storm lol. I remember on my Bots/Dark how my bots were always knockin stuff outta my tar patch (I can still see Creys flying). If stuff is gonna be flyin' around anyway, might as well blow 'em into a corner and set to Frappe. (*bounce bounce *pew* *pew* pew-pew-pew-pew* SWOOSH SWOOSH BOOM!) Sorry lol. I promise not to name the toon "Hoover" or "Dyson" or something.
"I haven't tried an Electric/Electric Blaster, but I do have an Electric/Kin Controller and he is very good at sapping. I could drain an elite boss before level 20, and can quickly sap a large spawn with Static Field, Conductive Aura, and Jolting Chain. The only real drawback is that you have no -recovery debuffs, so they still get to attack occasionally... but it's a lot less often and they generally can't use their heaviest hitters. An Elec/Elec Blaster does get -recovery, but loses buffs, hard controls and heals.
"
-Yeah, that's the catch, but at least on a troller, you can (hopefully) keep 'em locked down. And with /Kin, you do have to be right up on 'em to catch the heal anyway.
"Actually, there's one thing even tougher than a Stone Tanker, but only if you have billions of inf to spend. A perma-PA Ill/Rad Controller can solo anything that can be soloed... but considering the massive recharge needed for that you are looking at multiple full sets of purples so I doubt it can be done under 3-4 billion inf."
-Yikes. If only Villains actually DID rob those banks!
As for making a Tanker... I wonder which one really does the most damage? I'd almost be tempted to roll a... I dunno... maybe a Dark/Fire Brute. Didn't they give War Mace a (badly needed) boost a while back? (Probly right about when I took a break.) My WP/EM tanker was a fairly good toon all the way to 50, the early levels weren't too painful, but the damage could be better.
Stone tankers are interesting, but slow lol. And they look.... horrible. I don't suppose they ever made it so we can change the armor appearances? Speaking of which, does Spines still look like antlers glued all over your toons' body?
So far, I tried a Elec/En Corr... very painful in the early levels. I logged out lol. Tried a Kinetic Melee scrapper... I don't like the animations / attack times. Just seems awkward and slow. Also, tried downloading the latest MIDS, and it won't install.
So, I still can't decide. Maybe I should "boil it all down" more.... a tough toon, that can also stop enemies from attacking. Toughness, or some kind of defenses, and control. Wait... Brutes have War Mace, right? AHHHH!! Altitis!! -
Thanks for the reply Silverado
Yeah, I imagine it could irritate people if you had a lot of KB happnin' on a team lol. So, yeah, I would just solo with such a character... probly put something in the LFT message thing too, it would only be fair. I always hated being on a melee toon, and teaming with someone who keeps knocking the mobs away lol.
That Dom idea looks sweet. I've never took a dom past maybe 16 I think. But, if I can manage the right de-buffs, and try to stay at range, maybe take medicine pool... hmm. I really don't know anything about Doms to be honest lol. And people might actually want to team with such a character, if I can bring some "A game" (i.e. learn what the heck I'm doing hehe). I remember being on a n00b team (lvl 1 - 6, starter missions) on a Dom once, I think Plant / Fire, and the team leader was gettin mad because I couldn't heal LOL. Somebody else on the team was saying, "Dude, they're not trollers". #_#
I'll search for some builds along those lines, thanks -
Hi all,
Just saw Going Rogue at the store and grabbed it, so I'm coming back after like... a 2 year break lol. Just thought I'd check it out for that free month, check out the new powersets that I never played.
So, here's the ideas I've had so far, for what I'd like to try:
1. Some typa Sapper, with good AoE action going on (not necessarily damage, but maybe AoE holds, mezzes, whatever, and damage too would be sweet) and is still survivable. I rolled up a baby Electric Control / Kin Controller yesterday before I had to go to stupid work. Got her to lvl 5 so far, but you can't really tell anything 'til maybe 12 or 14. I do have a Kin / Elec Defender that I was working on before, think she's low 30's. But it seemed like a good chance to try out Elec for Controller lol.
I've read thru a few threads, some folks might suggest I go Dom instead, but then you got no heals. The thought occurred to me, that the one thing players hate the most is being de-toggled, so... why not do that to the mobs first? Just a toon that will straight throw down the de-buffing smack, de-toggle, sap, etc., so that they can't do anything while they die.
2. A character that is all about absolute mayhem, and stuff flying around all over the place! Including the enemies. I would love to see a character that can just keep the enemies flying around, up, down, whatever, like crazy. Just imagine Rachel Summers form those good ol' Excalibur comics, with her telekinesis, and like... a whole buncha mobs flyin' around in a swirling cyclone of mayhem and chaos and XP
Maybe something with Storm? Was thinking maybe a Bots/Storm MM, and slot the bots for KB? Seems like I tried a Storm/ Psi Def a long time ago that could throw stuff around pretty good, but with a MM, you get pets and bodyguard mode, which would be safer. Not to mention more efficient since their attacks use THEIR endurance, not mine. Some folks might not like lotsa KB, but I'll probly mostly solo anyways. Besides, I was thinking, If they're flying around the whole time, they can't attack, so... um... yeah. And it would be hilarious.
3. Barring a "Survivor Sapper", or a "Knockback / Mayhem Master", my other choice would be for a toon that just absolutely is the most invincible of them all. I can make all Kelds, and SoA's. I do have a "Semi-Bane" with all the pets that I could play like a "StalkerMind" lol, but if I remember right, she just wasn't all that tough. I've rolled up a Demon/Dark MM, but it looks already like the demons are End heavy and a little stupid, basically being just Necro with varied damage types built in, and possibly more challenging to slot.
Of all the toons I've made (and it was a TON with my terminal type III Altitis), my Bots/Dark MM cruised to 50 the fastest. I do kinda like the "sit back and watch stuff die" approach lol.
Anyways, since I've been away for a LONG time now, just thought I'd ask, I'm sure there's been a lot of changes. I heard Martial Arts had some changes done, for example. So, all of you who have been steady playing and keeping up with everything would know what works right now.
So, a "Survivor Sapper", "Mayhem Master", or "Invinciblest Idiot" lol. One thing I do love when I team is, when we get to the end of a mish, and somebody says "That was just dumb lol.", but nobody died. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks -
I too am having this frequent crashing problem. And I'm on a brand new computer with 2.3 Gigs of video. It can't be my machine.
I have noticed that it happens most often in AE missions, especially if it's a full 8 man team. The map City 02 seems to be a crash-trap for a lot of people.
It is VERY frustrating, as this is stopping me from helping my SG get prestige! I got so frustrated earlier I just logged out and played another game for awhile.
It has to have something to do with AE. And the only real difference between AE and what we used to do is the custom made mobs. Hmmm. -
Durn.
I tried making a low-level Freakshow mish. Made some custom mobs called Freaky, and they looked like the Freakshow minions and Lt.s (pretty much). The Lt.s would even rez. But it's just not the same without a Tank Swiper or two lol. Heck even a Meat Doctor would be cool. -

I want the search function to search on level, custom/in game baddies, and the presence of kill alls, EB/AVs.
I want a search function that searches.

This and a favorites list?
It just makes sense to have an option that you could check, and it would automatically show level-appropriate missions for you. Even low level characters might want to have some fun at AE, and not have to search for an hour.

Okay, so I've been reading some threads on here, and it seems that you can add standard NPCs to a custom group?
What I am wanting to know is, is there a way to expand the level range of a group?
Like for example, Freakshow (lvl 20-50), what if I wanted to make a mish for lowbies to have some Freakshow fun, and have them spawn say, lvls 1-50, is that possible?
Would it be Freakshows, or just whatever lower lvl mob you added to the group? -
It's a cover-up. Positron spilled his bowl of Froot Loops into the server again.
Darn metal gloves... hard to hold onto the bowl. -
*blink blink*
SOooo.... I guess magical fairies DO float down and just... give you the APP's. Wow.
O_o
I posted this here because it's in the Guides forum that you would expect to find a guide or other info about the APP's / PPP's, and how you get them, what to expect, etc..
The regular Power Pools become available at level 6. -
I dunno, I read somewhere after some Google searching that you have to do a mission story-arc. I just think the devs should have a guide to this stickied to the top some where.
-
I've been searching for a guide to the Ancillary Power Pools, and all I keep finding are lists of basic info about each power. What I wanna know is, since I have a character who is looking at level 41 coming up next, is, how do you go about getting the APP's?
How does it happen? Do magical fairies just... float down out of the sky and give 'em to you? Somehow, I don't think so.
I can't find a guide anywhere that says what you need to do, or what NPC you have to go talk to. And knowing this game like I do, I'm expecting absolutely no info to pop up in game. -
It could happen, Positron might spill his bowl of Froot Loops into the server, causing short circuiting and glitches. As a result, they won't be able to turn off the double XP. Then players will notice that XP is ramping up the longer you stay in combat! Super Speed tankers become very popular, herding gobs of mobs to keep rockin the house. Everybody will be fighting all night!
More sparks fly out of the server, Positron calls States and wakes him up at 2 am in a panic! More XP glitches... Defenders heal for XP instead of health... players get XP for each point of damage... Masterminds' robots go on strike!... rioting... pillaging... Rikti Invasions! free pie!!!
...but, yeah they would just pull the plug. Guess we'll have to settle for one lousy weekend -
Yes. Turn on the Double XP.
And then forget to turn it off.
Let's have a Double XP Month. -
I just hope they don't nerf other AT's to make them as bad as blaster. They should fix defiance, and make it work more like vigilance and fury, the more you and your team mates get hit, the more damage you do, including DoTs, and duration is extended, maybe even throw in the endurance discount.
Defiance doesn't do anything the way it is. Right before you die, you see the bar suddenly fill up, and you might get one shot off before you bounce off the floor. This thing needs to start ramping up as soon as you get hit the first time.
