    What is NCCoin?

    [ QUOTE ]
You will never get an official response here. This is the Players asking players section of the forum.

If you want an "official" response you need to direct your question to customer support. You can do that by clicking on the support button on your CoH updater. Then follow the instruction there to get an "official" answer to your question.

As I said in my post earlier:

    [ QUOTE ]
I have sent PMs regarding use of NCcoin on CoX but have gotten no response.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So to make it sound as if I am asking the question on this forum for the first time is not accurate.

I have sent PMs to Devs and Community folks and have recieved no official response.

    What is NCCoin?

    [ QUOTE ]
Your inability to understand NCSoft 's decisions doesn't really matter. The games are different and have different ways of generating income. If you can't accept that, then that's your problem.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm simply asking a question that has yet to get any official response.

I wasn't aware that doing so was a 'problem.'

    [ QUOTE ]
You can buy the game/time cards online from Amazon.com.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I realize that. However some folks (like my family) actually prefer to shop at brick and mortar stores. There is also the issue of 30 day cards costing more than $15, and then there's s&h costs.

    [ QUOTE ]
Then you wouldn't be buying NCcoin anyway because they are only sold online.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Target and Best Buy stores sell Exteel cards ($10 worth of NCcoin), as well as CoH and Tabula Rasa (which convert to $20 in NCcoin).

    [ QUOTE ]
And for that extra $5 you get a nifty jetpack temp power that can be used by all of your characters for the entire month.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Which makes the Jump Pack the only microtransaction item for this game that you can get with a game card.

    [ QUOTE ]
In Dungeon Runners you have to pay a $5. monthly subscription fee for the members only items and content.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically DR doesn't accept NCcoin, yet you can enter a serial code from a $10 Exteel card or a $20 CoH/TR card and get the corresponding number of month's worth of subscription.

Also, you can use a 30 or 60 day timecard from any NCsoft game and get $15 or $30 worth of NCcoin on your Exteel account.

In my opinion, it doesn't seem totally out of line that the exchange rate would be reciprocal. Obviously not everyone agrees on that.

I would love it if NCCoin were usable for monthly subs as well as the Boosters. My family is always trying to figure out what to get me for holidays, and a couple of NCcoin cards would be great if they applied to this game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You obviously don't understand the purpose of NCcoin. Exteel is a free game. There is no monthly subscription. NCcoins are used to buy in game items to trick out a players Mechanaught.

If your family wants to get you something, they can buy you a 30 or 60 day PlayNC time card, or even a $20 CoH game card which comes with the nifty Jetpack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

NCcoin is a virtual currency provided by NCsoft to buy in-game microtransaction items. I really don't understand how the Boosters wouldn't fall into that category.

As for the time cards, they are not readily available at most retailers since they take up too much shelf space due to being packaged in a DVD case.

The only ones that are available at most retailers are readily availabe the $20 time cards which are $5 more expensive than a monthly fee.

It would be nice to have a means to buy the Boosters without haveing to give out my credit card info, use Paypal, or pay an extar cost for a 'rechargable' debit card.

NCcoin may very well become more popular if it is usable on other games aside from Exteel or (I believe) Dungeon Runners. I think a lot of people might give NCsoft's other titles a shot of they had NCcoin on the PlayNC account.

In my opinion, they are missing out on some opportunities here.

  5. So we're not allowed to have different incarnations of the same character?

There are hundreds of Green Lanterns in the DC Universe, all with the same powers and same name. There is nothing sexual about having a female one (Jade, Arisia), a male one (Hal, Guy, Kyle, John, etc.), or a Huge one (Kilowog).

    Someone lock this thread please?
  6. Seriously?

Fifty cents a day is too expensive?

Have you played an arcade game lately? Most of those cost 50 cents to start the game.

MMOs are a decent value for the money. You get to play almost as much as you want for a flat rate per month.

The game is also continually updated, so to say that the game is 5 years old is not entirely accurate. The engine might be five years old, but a lot of the game is only a month or so old.

I'm sure there are people who have spent almost as much on Fallout 3 since it came out than people have spent on this game since then:

Retail cost of CoH (includes one month of the game): $106 months of CoH: 6 x $15 = $90
Total cost of 7 months of CoH: $100
    Total: $100

Retail cost of (on Oct 28, 2008) Fallout 3: $60
Retail cost of the three DLC updates to Fallout 3: $30
Retail cost of 6 months of Xbox Live Gold: $40
    Total: $130

Even taking the Live Gold option out of the equation, Fallout 3 is comparable to an MMO cost-wise.
  7. As if I didn't like this game enough....You make a Queen/Highlander reference.

    You guys are the best!
  8. [ QUOTE ]

All of you griping that the hardsuit should be available to all need to realize that NCSoft will be hosting events that will give "goodies" to those that attend, and since some of those events like the one at PAX are paid for by the attendees, well why shouldn't they get the goodies? It's just like having to pay a bit extra to get the wedding outfits. Those that attended both PAX and the meet and greet in effect paid for the privelage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just wondering how close you live to PAX..... Are you in Washington? The West Coast?

There are a total of three opportunities to get items like this (so far) in 2008:

San Diego Comic Con (San Diego)
    PAX (Seattle)
    HeroCon (Santa Clara)

All of these events are located on the West Coast. For people who are located on the East Coast (or MidWest), it can be prohibitively expensive to fly across the country. It can also be difficult to get the time off of work to attend such events (due to the travel time involved).

I realize it is far more convenient for NCNC folks to attend events closer to where they are located, but it does make it difficult for people from the MidWest or east Coast to meet them (and get these items).

Hopefully, NCNC will attend some cons in the MidWest or East Coast in 2009.....
  9. I don't particularly have a problem with items like this being made available at conventions, but it really is frustrating that the places where these have been/will be available are all on the West Coast.

And, of course, we have "Hero-Con '08" coming up too. What kind of good stuff will be made available there?

I would hope that the CoH/NCNC/NCSoft folks would consider having a presence at:

    New York ComicCon
    Gen Con
    Orlando MegaCon

I live in Massachusetts, and going to San Diego, Seattle, or Santa Clara would cost me a significant amount of money and time to attend any of these events.

It would be really nice to see the NCFolks in my time zone, or maybe just one away....
  10. OK. Here's another question:

I am currently paid through the end of 2008 with Time Cards on both of my accounts. If I get one of these cards, when will the Jet Pack go into effect?

Immediately or after the first of the year when all of my other time has run out?
  11. I have one V-Day pack for one of my accounts and will be getting anther for my second account. It seems worth it to me.

I would also like to voice my support for doing things like this in the future. It is clear that it takes a lot of time to set up new emotes/costume bits/prestige powers, and that time is probably much better used in providing gameplay content.

Doing packs like this is a way to provide new non-game altering items to players who want them, and allows the company to get a return on the extra work it took to provide them.

I would love to see a similar pack with other costume options and maybe a couple of variant versions of brawl perhaps?
  12. Here's the question though: If the game comes out, will we still get the Prestige Power that it was advertised as having?
  13. I have always love Timm style heroes. Keep up the good work.

I may be placing an order in the near future.
