Quote:So your suggestions are A: technobabble handwaving and B: special setting zones that don't feel like the special setting at all?Third, to the people that said this is a superhero game and to leave the "reality" out of it...THANK YOU!!! Reed Richards created an "oxygen net" so that the Human Torch could use his fire powers underwater for goodness sakes! Clearly even the masters "just want it to happen" at times. Personally, I like the little write-up that Heroclix put on their space map. Everyone is assumed to have oxygen suits and maneuver packs for this map. That's paraphrasing, but the intent is, it doesn't matter how the characters acquired the means to be in the environment, THAT's where the battle is.

Quote:THANK YOU!I'm going to kill everyone's pony and say that as long as I am on this project, it will never happen. They will have to replace me with a gibbering idiot to get the okay to move forward with animation and VFX needed to support 'underwater' zones.
And then it will take years and ultimately look stupid.
P.S. Aquaman is lame!

In response to PoliceWoman's review
Glad you enjoyed. I'll take the liberty of addressing concerns.
First off, I've decided to (soon) do a small rewrite of contact dialogue, to make the mission a bit more personal for him. Before, I actually aimed for it being similar to a normal, no strings attached contact mission, but I feel a small sacrifice there will make the arc more enjoyable.
I am, myself, a fan of no more clues and souvenirs than necessary. Thus, I often put stuff that isn't critical but foreshadows/explains in the global spam. Personal preference.
I woulda sworn I explained the stolen relic's significance somewhere. Or rather, lack thereof. You don't know what it is, but they wanted it, and they're not getting into it. I'll admit, I dropped the ball as to exactly why the Raiders would be in the Warriors' faces. I'll have to work on that too.
I'll have to tweak the end mission dialogue to explain what you learn from Aristodemus, thanks for pointing that out.
The workers (three of them) were a continuity joke mostly. There's more glowies that hint at what befell Ransom, but placing his actual body far in is impossible. The initial draft of the mission had you running into Ransom on the way to the exit, but that proved too unreliable.
I didn't feel the arc deserves a souvenir. Dime a dozen two-parter missions from contacts don't get them.
I've an idea or two for the motivation part. Watch this space.
The specialized equipment (an optional glowie!) is part of the point. They fell back to the Lockhart Aerohart office because they know it'd have the necessary equipment.
Again, thanks for the favorable review, glad you liked, and looking forward to another exchange in the future, perhaps?
PS: I just checked. Not only is Ransom still set to run at quarter health (I was surprised your defender caught him and you didn't mention), he IS set to only require the boss to complete. I blame the I17 conversion. -
Quote:Firstoff, thanks much for the review of Sky Kings' Ransom. Good to hear you enjoyed. To avoid cluttering up your threads, and definitely not to cause bumping of my thread, I'll post a response (soonish) in its thread. I'm selfless like that.Sky King's Ransom
Arc ID: 232308
Keywords: Solo Friendly, Canon Related
Morality: Heroic
Level range: 20-24
Warnings: High level villains at low levels (but author's notes say these are non-combat) -
It's, in his opinion, the single worst arc he played. It's his opinion, and his right to compare others to it.

I'm pretty sure that's referring to the anonymity of tagging the thread.

Finally got myself away to do that one arc. Holy crap that's a high WTF/min quotient. Also puntastic. Some stealthed, some quite good, some both.
It's good if you like sneaky references to both CoH lore and the Captain Awesome videos, tons of puns and absurdist, very absurdist humor. It's also very meta. Which is not a bad thing. -
Eva Destruction should play "Sky Kings' Ransom" (232308) because, just like her apparent preference, it involves absolutely no reference to pie.
-
What do the critics have to say?
Talen_Lee - **** - "(...) didn't make me stop thinking or stop having fun."
PoliceWoman - **** - "(...) just long enough to tell the story it wanted to tell, and no more."
Lazarus - ***** - "Does it's job well as a quick mini-arc."
And the players?
Eva Destruction - "(...) nice little story (...) overall worth playing."

Arrite. Played Papers and Paychecks. Feedback'd. Loved it, even if the "good" ending is less satisfactory in comparison. Added it to the earlier love for Teen Phalanx Forever! and Warrior's Journey. Any hope of tossing #232308 - Sky Kings' Ransom onto the list? It's a shorter than not 20-24 heroside.

#232308, Sky Kings' Ransom, can kinda sorta not really count.

One loose word sinks a ship.
One mistake leaves a murderer weak and exposed.
One chance to bring him to justice.

I am going to shamelessly pimp my 20-24 heroside arc, Sky Kings' Ransom, #232308

Quote:AGAIN?!we are increasing the rewards they earn from level 1 to 20 (about 20% across the board)[/I]
I'll never get to play Heck's second arc at this rate >.<
Hey, how about maybe throwing that into the first veteran reward or something? "Congrats, we know you've been through this before. Have a boost next time." -
Quote:There's many ways other than death for tragedy. But I felt the story of Chimera and Sayaki had to end tragically, both to fit the setting and to maximize the impact of their story.
There are fates worse than death.
Can you think of one worse than being away from one you love, forever, not even in death? -
Quote:Translation:This was heading for three or four stars until the last act, which is evidently balanced predicated on the use of the author insert ally. My stand on arcs of this nature is that the player should opt out and allow the author's characters to play with themselves.

Quote:Thank you Venture for your review on "The Missing".
I've had a couple of suggestions(...)Quote:I will no longer respond to or even read responses to my reviews posted in this or any future review threads.Quote:What I found was a fairly generic link. Shadowrush and Batman are both heroes, Leslie and Charlestin are both doctors and friends of the previous heroes. And... that's it? No one can have a dark hero with a doctor friend without being called a Batman ripoff?
Not overpowered. Strange. When's the last time you've seen Family mobs use Hurl? -
Nerf? Easy. Roll back the AoE upgrading.
For the record, I meant 'university' as in the day job location, not just crafting station. -
Atlas AE (and Cap AE) I avoid like the plague already. But I have no way of avoiding the Cap BM due to its placement near the only university, only Midnighter door, and the proximity of the only way to progress past the 1-20 bracket without using a SG base.
