Quote:Yes, but at this point in the thread I'd imagine that the people who are going to rationally explain that they're unhappy and why have already spoken. The amount of expressed anger seems a bit disproportionate to the issue, and most of the posts aren't addressing issues with the set so much as rehashing the same posts over and over and over with no change in the argument behind them.Uh.... you do know we can complain and also not buy it? It's not an either/or thing.
Really, I wanted to put the picture up hours ago when there was page after page of "why couldn't this be in the pack?!" but wasn't able to get to a computer that had it installed until a few minutes before I posted.
Quote:I'm not getting your point. People say they can't make a female gunslinger with the pack called 'Gunslinger' you show that they can make a gunslinger female with stuff that isn't in the pack.
That begs the question, what's the point of the pack then?
You know the pack that is called 'Gunslinger' and should add 'Gunslinger' parts to the game, for making such things as female gunslingers.
There has already been a redname reply to this thread basically saying, "we get it, you're not happy." That's about all you're going to get, so at this point just move on and stop specifically looking for something to be miserable about. -
Quote:I can add in the belt, but then you'd have to spend points on it. But I already addressed that point earlier in the thread - there's not much gunslingery in the female selections. But you can use a couple of the parts in a gunslinger outfit. Please try making it with anything provided for females in the 'Gunslinger' pack, bet you can't.
I also posted that I felt it was unrealistic to expect people to just make a gunslinger costume with what they already had available earlier in the thread, too - it's so much more gratifying to complain incessantly than it is to not give them your money and/or spend points on something that you don't like. But when something that you can already make is presented as something that people want to pay extra for, I thought that maybe people should take a step back from the emotion and start talking with their wallets instead. -
For those wanting the Quick and the Dead outfit from earlier, this was done without a single thing from the Gunslinger pack, and didn't take all that long to piece together:
Yes, it could use a holster belt. Yes, it could use better pistols and a better hat. But it's not like there aren't options available at all...
Edit: original concept idea:

Quote:Playing on MUDs at 2400 baud was funny - you could read everything as it appeared on the screen! The sad part was, due to line noise in the university phone lines, I couldn't connect at faster than 2400 baud even when I got my 14.4 modem or it would go nuts.My math was off. D'oh!!!
That happened when I was younger than 24.
Six months before I turned 24 is when I acquired my first Internet access at the university I was attending at the time. I had to go into their computer dungeon in the science building and sign up for a shell account on their VAX, which ran VMS.
I used that same 2400 baud modem to dial remotely into their system from home on my Amiga 2000. But I had to dial into another CSU campus that was closer to me in order to avoid getting any local toll charges. It was a simple matter to select the CSUNet from the login prompt, and then I'd be presented with a menu of Cal State University networks I could connect to.
Such an arrangement was incredibly laggy, and I had to use a local chat window on my terminal program in order to properly see what I was typing. But uploading and downloading to my VMS account via Z-Modem worked just fine. -
Quote:No. He wanted to crush/kill her at the start of the arc due to her rejection of him - read the text here, starting at part two. You manipulate his obsession into allowing you to infiltrate and blow up the base - he just wanted revenge.Isn't it more like you manipulate his creepy obsession into killing her and then go "HA-HA"? Or am I thinking of another arc?
You do rub his nose in it after he sees her dead and finally begins to think that maybe he went a little overboard. -
Quote:Fair enough, thanks for the explanations. The power itself also has an extra flag set on it to tell the game that the power uses redirection and it needs to check the effects before activating the power. It's possible that other attributes of the power may be able to be changed on the fly that way also, such as endurance cost, range, target type (actually I know for a fact this one is possible -- look for a temp power in the spring that can be used on friend or foe and has different effects), or possibly even the icon, but how exactly the engine handles it is still unknown.
City of Data doesn't (yet) handle PowerRedirect completely correct -- on the linked page it uses the wrong modifier tables for damage numbers for instance. In the future it will show a dropdown box to allow you to select the different verisons of the power and view them in place.
It would be quite possible to do it that way, but it's not even necessary anymore. At some point pets grew the capability to reference properties of their owner. See the implementation of Spring Attack which uses this to simulate AT modifiers despite being a pseudopet.
In theory, even chain-pets like Electric Control uses could pass along the information that way. They'd just need an autopower with an effect that used a magnitude expression:
(source.owner.kStealth) Stealth on Self for 10s [Replace stacking mode]
To set their own Stealth value equal to that of their creator. The only catch is that the psuedopet would have to be designed to outlive any other pets it spawned so that they could refer to their owner to find out if Domination was active, but with a long enough activate period that would be doable. All without having to create a jillion different pets.I was just thinking that the redirection was completely unnecessary in the first place, and while it may be able to pull the owner's AT (which Spring Attack does) the kStealth may be hidden or inaccessible.
I would have thought that the size of the team was something that was a simple lookup, but when I brought it up asking about just using it rather than the 30' radius for increased Stalker criticals I was informed that there isn't a way to look it up directly, and such a thing would have to check all entities on the map to see if they were on the Stalker's team (!!) - something that I was not expecting at all and isn't remotely close to the most efficient way of doing it. So things that I thought should be simple just sometimes are way out of whack with how you would expect them to work.

Quote:I somewhat agree with this as well.I am with everyone of Heels not being Superhero/Fantasy attire.
And yet I keep using Thigh Highs and Stilettos because the shape of the feet is just wrong when I try using Flat boots. They just look like blocks instead of feet to me - at least with the heels I there's a slope and some shape. -
Quote:Unrealistically, just fake it using the Martial Arts robe and pants that exist in the costume creator now, and hope to get the belt and better hair under a cowboy hat.I will bring the topic to development.
Realistically, don't expect it any time soon. Schedules are planned out months in advance and right now we're working on both Issues 22 and 23 and art schedules are quite possibly the most rigorous and time consuming of the lot, especially the character artists. Time to revisit previous costume pieces is not currently included and to do so would compromise new costume sets, villain groups, etc, etc...it has an extreme domino effect. -
Quote:City of Data is your friend. Many powers that have the delayed crash effects are set to not stack with self, meaning that when you use the power again a new copy of the delay effect replaces the first one.
The defense debuff in Rage works this way as well for example.
I've not tested which parts of Unstoppable are flagged to not stack with self, but only effects flagged that way will be mitigated AFAIK. -
Quote:Electric Armor gets Overload now? >.>I use this method to get 5 mins and 59 secs of overload on my elec armor. Unfortunately I'm at work or I would test unstoppable. Im guessing it should work since it works for most t9s I've tried.
Every part of Power Surge is flagged to not stack from the same caster, including the crash. This is also true for Unstoppable. In Energy Aura, Overload has almost every part set to not stack, except for the -100% endurance crash (the -recovery is set to not stack though). That's why you don't avoid it with Energy Aura but it can be avoided with Invuln and Electric Armor.
It's exactly as has been explained about Rage - since it's set to not stack with itself (Rage's -defense is set that way, the rest of the crash isn't which is why it pops up regardless) you replace the old instance with the new. This causes a brief drop while it's replaced - probably only for the duration of the animation, if that; it could simply be a real numbers glitch due to it being down for maybe one server tick - and then the crash is also replaced because it's set to not stack as well. -
Quote:*watches attempt at silly joke fall flat*I am not sure what you are saying. Whose poor career decisions result in costume parts looking whorish? The art department's?
Seriously though, I didn't say my female gunslingers look that way. I said the female gunslinger costume pieces look that way. I won't be using them on any of my characters, because I do not have any characters that are whores and I do not intend to make any in the future.
Ah well. You should join the crowd in the other thread(s) about it... I was hoping to lighten the mood here but alas. -
Quote:Arachnos Soldiers are required to take a mez protection power as their first tier secondary power, regardless of whether they're a huntsman, bane, or crab. Crabs get a toggle to boost it further, Banes get higher mag protection (4), and both later branches can take the initial power to stack the mag 2 protection it provides on its own.I'm going to disagree with your second part just a bit here. As I see it, so long as they are clearly described, there's no reason to force a player to build a character with their mez protection power. No other AT forces a mez protection on the character as a mandatory power pick, that I know of.
That's the only time you're forced into taking mez protection that I'm aware of, though; it doesn't negate your point but answer an implied question. -

Quote:And this. A few thousand times.Sorry for the presumption in requoting, but I wanted to expand on this and the thread's moving too quickly to simply edit.
Basically, give us Lego pieces. Right now, what we're getting in packs is like a sloped Lego piece with a 30-degree angle, then the next set has a sloped Lego piece with a 45-degree angle, then the next has a sloped piece with a 60-degree angle. That's a nice level of detail, sure, but that's an awful lot of time wasted on minor variations of the same piece. Give us a single generic option, then let us build what we want with it. Further development time should be spent on making different shapes for us to use, not variations on the same shape.
In the same manner as Legos, themed sets are fantastic, sure. I like to see new pieces that create a completely new outfit. But as far as most of us are concerned, that set is just an excuse to have some brand new pieces to incorporate into our giant pile of individual Legos to make brand-new creations out of. The more a single piece is designed to work only with certain other pieces, or the more a single piece looks like a whole bunch of other pieces we already have with only minor variation, the less use it is to us. -
Quote:Which is my main complaint after seeing the screenshots. The Rancher outfit from the link earlier would have worked quite nicely and fit in the "gunslinger" theme. There's nothing *wrong* with the female set in the gunslinger pack except that seriously there's no way that's a gunslinger. Except maybe in the 1800s version of Charlies Angels. And what species of miniature bovine did I assassinate to get those little cow skulls?
And the skulls are from demonlings who didn't listen to their MM - which is why their dialogue is always talking about doing things "for the master!" -
Revising the question a bit and trying to think of my current characters, I listed out all of the powersets available and the number of characters I currently have with them at level 50. Ostensibly this was because if I got something to 50 then that must mean I liked playing it, but in reality a few were just so I could have a 50 of each AT (see: SD/SS Tanker, PB) and two were PL'd for a PvP league (see: Mind/Emp, Spines/WP).
Since this was all off the top of my head, I might have forgotten a couple. The big winner is Kinetics, with a Plant/Kin Controller, Fire/, Ice/, and Rad/ Corruptors, and a /Dark Defender... but I play my Sonic/Cold Corruptor more often than any one of those. -
Best part of the review was the caption on the Giant Shivan fight in the tutorial. >.>

Quote:Have you seen Demon Summoning? Er, sorry, I mean Gunslinger Summoning?Does it have cow skulls?
(Gah...now I'm hearing Christopher Walken and his more cowbell sketch.) That was the first thing I noticed on the set, was that the female pieces have cow skulls on them, as if doing that makes them Western. The men have it too, and the arm ones actually get jammed into his skull on certain moves.

Quote:Shush, you. You're offended and you know it! Haven't you read anything in the thread?Lisa strides into this thread, and looks about warily.
I actually bought this pack, I played around with it, and I made a very cute curly haired blonde Fire/Fire Brute who looks like she is dressed for Christmas.
She does not look trashy, nor does she look like a prostitute.
I do think we should be able to choose our own two colors on the striped top, instead of having one chosen for us.
Sexy Jay, if you are reading this, I fear that your audience wants to dress their female toons like men...the less shapely the better.
Once we have all the bulky Baron Jackets we can handle, then and only then should you make us some pretty lady things.
Pancake, I don't want my female toons to look like hulking men......
Oh wells....I go on record to say that except for the pre-tinting of one stripe, I am enjoying this pack and think it was points well spent..except for that annoying pre-tinted stripe...
Lisa.
My only gripe is that it does seem a bit false that the "gunslinger" outfit doesn't have anything gunslingery for women. -
