Silly? I don't think so. You're not an automaton, you're posessed of free will. You could have made a conscious decision not farm the MA.

Just because we all said MA is going to provide a perfect environment for farming does not make it any better. The devs might have dropped the ball on this, but people still came along and exploited the fact that the devs had released something that'd do something other than they intended.

It's one thing in games like WoW or CS to get a fairly huge player base off the game in one way (ban) or another (making them so upset they leave), but doing this in CoX during the 5th year, when several seriously competitive threats are crawling very, very near is suicide.

I love this game, but I'm amazed it's still alive and kicking with the abuse the owners put it through. I'm getting to the point I almost whish they'd just kill it off fast and spare us the pain of seeing what we love fade away. I might even get a real life(tm)!

No, it's mine. Just because you're given something doesn't mean you have to use it. The people who abused the MA for farming deserve everything they get. If my warshade is stripped of his levels then that's the way it goes... he gets deleted and I start over.

It's amazing that the powers that be didn't realise just how much farming would go on. Monkeys/keys to the banana plantation anyone? At the end of it all though, it's their game, their rules... but they need to be careful.

I can see them slapping a player with a warning, THEN slapping them with bans, alt locking and other punishments, but straight out punishing people for their mistakes is rather harsch, and the amoung of hard slaps would be so general, uncontrolled and immense or totally useless aimed at a very small amount thereby not actually doing anything about the situation. Both alternatives are bad and the potential of unfair treatment even with the "appeal process" in a fairly small game. Well, it just smells so Bush 9/11 anti-democratic:

Thing is... EVERYONE WAS SHOUTING about how the MA would be "exploited" and they didn't really test if for "exploits", using "exploits" with the "'s because I don't consider it to be a real exploit.

They could've gone CoP on us, taking down the MA until they'd fixed the com officers or... whatever... They didn't, they left it in... I'd even go as far as saying that's bate'ing, fishing, asking the players to use it.

THEY messed up, AGAIN! ROYALLY!!! Punishing players in general, or even threatening to do it is insane, especially after the long rant after the 5th ani speech. People are already really, really aggravated.

I said it before as a joke, but now I really believe it:
Posi must've been bribed by Cryptic to get us all to leave for their uninteresting game whether we like it or not. Yes, I actually do believe it now (As in believe, think, suppose, not "I have proof"). It just blows my mind how the Royal screw-ups keep getting worse every year.

It's still a problem:
- yes, they could find anyone that used MA in 2 days to get 50s and I'm not too bothered with them getting punished

...but: where do you draw the line? As someone said: Is it an exploit to do missions with just bosses, EBs and other "hard to kill" stuff and then replay it repeatedly with a good team? Is it abuse to play "Butterfly effect" repeatedly for the dev choise badges? or the hall of fame badges where there's basically ONE mission available SOMETIMES?

Basically they're saying what the US government's been doing since 9/11: Be afraid, we won't tell you what, but be afraid.

Now, a LOT of people apparently used it, judging by the crowds just in Cap Au Diable. [censored] them off, or even scaring them, well, I just simply agree with London here, Posi's shooting himself in the foot again, lining himself up for the firing squad. ...and I thought DE was handled badly! :P

Also: this is a clear example of what happens when you put in a bunch of "epic" badges (=Amazingly stupid, moronic badges). The community finds a way. They basically encourage people to do the "wrong" thing with those.

If I where Posi I'd say: Thanks for making some problems VERY obvious to us. We messed up, we dropped the ball and we took our bloody time picking it up. For that we'll let you have whatever you got unfairly, after all, some of you really are evil(tm)!! but beware, from now on, we'll monitor the game more carefully, we'll warn you and we will use whatever force is necessary if you keep abusing our good will and trust.

Thing is, the exploit brought the game to a near death, the fix might kill it.
Imagine people loosing access to some characters etc for basically using what's there - no they where not cheating, they where using an exploit, not the same thing - will they stay in the game? I'm not talking about the mad 6 account farmers that abused it for hours a day, I'm talking about old players that might've taken the chance to get a widow 10-40 levels and realized they really liked it.

Now, I did try out some of the grinds and I must admit I found it... interesting... I doubt I'll be smacked with some sanctions for that (4-6 levels methink it was) but i'd be rather annoyed if I did get a smack, no matter what size.

I see a huge bit of the playerbase leaving the game when this happens basically. I don't agree with the INSANE PLing lately, but killing of a bunch of players won't really help the game even if it satisfies the "pure" players (and with that I mean whiners, not quality moaners like me)

Another alt slot, heck, even a free cossie token (as if the 48 I have isn't enough) or something like that would've been nice indeed. Rather unimaginative...

But I'm still more upset about the so called "speech". Simply poor marketing, but let's not start another round of discussion about it!

We have a healthy 4 man fire kin/rad corruptor team going, having loads of fun, but we would really like to expand to a full 8 man team. SBs'r'US!

If you're interested we're playing on sundays and mondays from 6 pm to about 8 pm. We're currently working Nerva contacts and have space for lackeys. (or do that MA grind to catch up a bit)

I've thought of the exploit before, but didn't bother to test how doable it was. Yesterday I heard people talking about NC removing that particular critter and decided to give it a go just to see if there's any thruth to the "lvl 1-50 in 2 days" whining....

...apparently there is! I tried it with two MMs that are actually XP pacted to two dominators (love them at 50, hate levelling them) and doing a single Dreck-map lvl 42 mission with only two players I still managed to ding twice at lvl 28ish in one go.

This was probably not the best arc for it, not the best alts, pitiful team. Add a double XP weekend to this and we're in bussiness!

Personally I've never liked that particular critter, so if they end up removing it totally from the game, I wouldn't mind. As for exploits per say: I'm sort of happy I've found a way to get some boring, old alts to a level where I might end up playing them, but that's another point: We wanna play our 50s and we're bored!

If some people wanna get bored even faster by getting their first alt to 50 this way, good for them, but they'll get perma-ignored so fast once they start asking n00bish questions at 50.

I personally bet NCs gonna do some data digging and kick people back to level 1 or harsher for this, which would of course be stupid since they're not cheating, just using what's there. I still bet they're gonna do something evil like that.

Badge texts need an overhaul, since some are downright wrong

While all that is interesting - VERY interesting - I still see no sign of content, and even worse, if this is what they need, that means this is what they currently don't have.

...and that's a rather scary thought!

Chaos is also an engine of some sort, don't remember quite what. Think it was the physics engine in some game not long ago.

So more likely to mean they're doing an upgrade like when we got "ragdoll physics" added.

If I'm not totally mistaken I think it was part of Force Unleashed that made things destructible etc.
