Um, hampsters revolt!
H3ll N0, we won't keep the s3rv3rs up! Feed us, love us.
It may be cruel, but a small part of me would laught so hard if I found a story on Actiontrip telling me the servers had totally crashed and they didn't have any backups because they all where in the same room and during the crash, the whole room got incinerated, then flooded with that funky foam the firedudes use to put out the fires.
...and we all know, the death of the game is d00m! unless there was some other highly addictive drug out there, like... superadine! Yeah, I wanna be green, big and glowing, with extra chunky teeths! -
The AE farms will of course not be affected since they remain indoors. To be fair, I prefer the zombies, at least they're a tad original.
Problem is, all zones are affected even if they're invasion-free. So obviously the servers aren't really up to it either - that's my main problem with it really. -
Anytime before Aug 14 is fine with me really, except this saturday. I'll be sure to bring The rest of Murders Inc. of course...
-
Could we just get one thing VERY clear: There's NEVER been any free stuff in CoX.
...We all pay our sub, don't we? I'm so sick'n'tired of people going out of their way to hail the "new free content patch" especially since this game has way less content after five years than most other games have at their release.
That said. Great! If someone's so eager to PAY to get their good stuff out - instead of getting payed as they really should - that's fine with me. If I'd ever get a HoF or something I'd be inclined to do my second really serious arc and I'd have slots for it. If noone's playing my arcs, what's the friggin point? I can play my own arcs without publishing.
So, if people wanna pay for more alt slots, arc slots, wedding costume, that's fine with me. Some things are deffo worth paying for. I'd love the mission teleporter, but that's way too expensive. I like the magic pack power, couldn't live without the jetpack booster.
I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality stuff if it also helps the game. They claim we got our useless villain epics faster because of it, so that's fine. Me happy!
...but if *all* the good stuff will be in expansions/micro transactions... [censored]! If I16 turns out to be just another QoL "power customization" pack without content...
...let's just say I hope STO, SWTOR etc is released soon! -
Good way to show the n00bers too!
I remember spending a small eternity to locate some mission entrances in both Skyway and Bricks, not to mention *THAT* one in Nerva. Used to have 1M inf "Find me" competition when I was bored and still on heroes.
..which also meant I still have no sets or even IOs on my heroes since I gave away *all* my inf. Best thing I've ever done in-game! -
I think you'd even get a harsh warning if people petition you. My point is, doing as "the other one" we all know did, is also pretty much not socially acceptable behaviour. It's going out of your way to make people hate you, then getting surprised when people do hate you.
If you kick someone in the royal crown jewels, don't expect them to love you. The prof. COMPLETELY misunderstood the concept of PVP figthing and the zone. Obviously he didn't go for shivans in BB, try to take turrets in RV etc either. -
Yes, I do mean the fly pose emotes. Sure I can make a bind for it, but...
-
Of course, all the nukes are very pretty. I can see myself setting off the sonic nuke in the classroom when the kids give me a hard time. Just going leloocorbendallasmultipassbigbadaboom on them!
Having the ability to spawn loyal henchmen could be rather useful too: Clean up, do the dishes, get me another beer.
But I think we can all deffo agree: A travel power, any one would be great. It is rather interesting, with all the jetpacks that are around now, that so many still pick "fly" as the in-game means of travel since it has little in-mish use unlike the other powers.
however I do miss super hearing, super sight, x-ray vision, grabbling hook, superspeed up a wall, "regular" telepathy etc.
...and if I could teleport, I'd want to customize it. I like the AV that turns into a clay'ish blob before disappearing. ..and why don't we have a toggle (like Costume emotes) for the fly pose yet? Yes, we need travel power customization!
...but not animated hair, please! (wait for it, wait) -
Oh, I remember a certain someone with 4 or more accounts in RV, buffing his character. Slaying mostly new PVPers, hunting them down until they left the zone to never ever pvp again, but when attacked by a mob of fellow smurfers he used a hotkey to get teleported back to base to be buffed again, out, slay someone, tp back to base, repeat endlessly.
The article itself is hillarious btw. He actually think tp'ing people into the drones is a valid tactic, that he's a good pvp'er and noone could "stay alive long enough to beat him". Urhm... And from that he draws even more hillarious conclusions. Must be the nutty professor!
Both cases pretty much shows individuals that can't read social contexts and norms. If you spit in someones face, expect a harsh response. If you touch my girlfriend in an inappropriate way, expect severe, long-term pain.
Yeah... Water is...wet! -
Oh, just wait till you try hide'n'seek in Brickstown or Skyway. Nightmare!
-
Well, sure wouldn't dare to transform to a squid... Someone would have me for lunch no matter how much I'd blast away before they catch me...
Come to think of it, I'd love to do a proper hand clap or foot stomp when my pupils need to be... corrected... -
Well, I'll throw in a positive bone then:
GM_Charles been nice at times!
...now... Naming and/or shaming isn't really allowed though. Guess that actually goes for positive stuff as well,so... -
I'm just soooo grateful they fixed the RSF hossie. At least no more petitions for help, wait around for ages, for that one.
...and we've pretty much mastered the new SF after two runs! -
Um, he's not joking!
SS is rediculous! Another example of a wonderful zone completely wasted! -
Invis and fly are definitely the top choises...
...from there on it get's a bit trickier:
Yes, regen would be nice, but pain isn't nice even if you regen.
Superspeed would be fun as well, but being able to fly makes it a bit overkill I guess... Depends on how fast I'd be able to fly really.
...so I'd go with one of the Heal-other powers. Being the worlds best super doctor even if it'd mean working 24/7 and still not be "enough".
Then again SBing the population around me would be rather hillarious. Watch'em run into walls... Oh, wait.. real life doesn't have that many caves! -

Reasonably excited about Star Trek Online now... Concepts seem good, basic art and mechanics seem good, the Genesis infinite universe creation idea is interesting...

Um.. Might give it a go, but so far, only the Raven titles has been good within the ST franchise. Admittedly I liked Away team although I'm man enough to admit it really was paaants. -
...and as long as you can have anyone auto-lk'd to lvl 45 in a lvl 50 mission, the MA is and will remain a farm tool. If the devs didn't intend it to be that way there's plenty of ways to fix that.
My suggestion is for all mobs everywhere in every zone to always be like the rikti invasion forces: Your level, no matter what level you are and/or +1, +2 etc if you've upp'ed the diff setting. That would even make it possible for different diff settings within the team, and would make it more fun running around in the low level zones.
The game mechanics are obviously already there, so implementing it is possible although it'd probably take some work.
Thing is, it would remove the need the LK/SK/Malf/mentor and remove the +5 lvl grinds completely. It's the only "permanent" solution I know of.
personally I'm happy I can get through lvl 1-21 fast nowadays, be it through the MA or in other ...creative... ways! -

The travelling around is to make sure you experience the city. Otherwise building zones is totally useless. Then an interface directly from login to MA would be enough. So yes.. travelling is needed. Hunts outside too.

This is my major problem with the game:
They build these zones, spend all that time and effort, and there's absolutely no reason to spend time there, except moving from one mission to another. It's plain stupid imho!
What they should do is focus a LOT more on making the zones alive. Sure i like the dialogue, the occational GMs etc, but would it be so hard to put in actual missions in the zones? Not talking about talk-to's or patrol, but actual bank robberies, charity races in Skyway, team-vs-team treasure hunts. There's so much they could do with the zones.
It's the ONE thing I really, really like about Lotro - hardly any instanced missions.
I really like a lot of the zones, and at times I'm awe-struck when I actually open my eyes and look at them. It's sad they're basically just such a whoopin' waste of time. I basically left heroes because I got fed up on the zoning/travelling between missions. If someone would drag me back, I'd be sure to pick up the Mac-a-smack-pack just to avoid some of it. -
You know, I lost count of frostfire after doing it more than a hundred times. If anything, that zome reminds me of yet another reason I don't play heroes!
However I must admit it's fun to go back every now and then, since frostie's been through several changes. Seems there's always a new surprise in there! -
Well, if anything it's keeping me AWAY from the game, so even if it's free advertizing I'm not sure it's good for them.
Thing is, it's NOT the real world. You can grab the loot, sell it for real world money and stop existing in the game world, while if you do something like this in the real world you'll have to face the consequences.
My point being: It's rather serious when a game's main selling point is: We allow you to cheat, scam, whatever.
btw - in China there's actually a law against virtual theft nowadays (someone stole someone's sword and someone found the dude IRL and snubbed him for doing it apparently).
...but oh, how I'd love to see a good space MMO. -
The copy pasta is annoying indeed. I usually get an e-mail response while I'm still in-game.
Helloooh! I'm IN THE FRIGGIN' GAME! Not likely I'll read my email then. SEND AN IN_GAME TELL for cryin' out loud!
Every time that happens, I seriously think about leaving the game beacuse I get so... you know what! -
This is the sort of things that makes me follow Eve at a very far distance. It makes me laugh, and although quite interested in trying out the game, it also of course makes me stay away from it....
That and the reputation of it being a pimped up, rediculously complicated excel spreadsheet that you have to invest a LOT of time in. Oh, and the fact that a few groups totally dominate the world and that you can in fact loose everything, and everyone's got 3 years advantage over me, and...
...but it looks pretty, doesn't it?
Oh, and good job nickin' that ISK anyway, even if he didn't make that much out of it. In a game like that, that's the only way to go - hope he get's a real life now!
Remember the epic scam tale. God that made me laugh! -
Ok, time to be harsh and evil...
So we got some new keywords for our story arcs. IMHO that's a poor substitute for a proper search engine. If Paragon can't do it themselves, they should hire some people to do it for them. Here's just a few examples of what people expect from a search option nowadays:
Search by author, by ID, etc
When a mission is found, look up other missions by same author
A "People that played this one also liked these missions" recommendation tab/option
and perhaps most important:
A "my favourites/star-rated/bookmarks/whatever" tab
It's amazing the MA got off the drawing board without this really...
Also, an option to rate the difficulty of the mission could be useful, maybe even see optional feedback people enter for each arc.
I guess I could go on, but... Point is: If you can't find the good arcs, it's just another farm toy. Oh wait...
...it is? Ah! It is!
