Just noticed that issue 20 'features' requires going rogue, so it already ends here. Im not gonna pay sub, and packs, and going rogue, and as cherry on the top the upcomming server-list merge.
This 'joke' gonna cost me over 200 euro, it just aint worth it anymore. And even if i had the money, paypal aint working anyhow.. -
So if i visit your birthday every single year, but this year i wont come, i'm no longer a friend? Ironic aint it.
-
The thing i just cant understand, what is a celebration if you actualy have to pay for it?
Why should have all my accounts active for 3 months flat, just to 'celebrate' this 7 year stuff? We're talking 120+ euro for something that i've been part of pretty much since the start of Beta (and EU beta).
Yeah, but u can buy the boosterpack afterwards! Yup, just like all previous, wich in avarage i payed probably twice on each account, i love the fact everything you buy in your account is called 'perk'. Nice to have dozen of 'boosters and addons', but keeping track of what you actualy buy..
Why would i 'beg' for the 'selection' in the first place? Awww he's such a loyal player and he's so sad.. lets give him anyway. Screw that, i've been a 5,5 year solid sub, but just i did not have a sub active: screw you, no gift for you.
And yes, support is giving me no reply. 'Contact Paypal, aint our fault!'. Paypal tells me its default security measures, why should i even 'beg' to get 'flagged' for this system? They should've done this by default for anyone who's been a veteran for so long. -
Is it possible to add their AT?
I dont mind to 'auction' someone who can run with me through missions, got toooo many alts that would like a few missions, but either cant handle much solo (squishy) or cant be killed but cant kill either (tanks :P).
(or i just gonna bid on Avatea to get a 2 hour foto-shoot throughout Paragon island)

Quote:Would make more sence if this was posted today, i love good 1st april jokes.
Because the European players are very important to us
Regarding colliding names, i think they refer to active and inactive accounts as for the 'hundreds vs thousands', even so it wouldnt make sense the way you put it.
Quote:Reading through the whole thread I think it is very apparent that the majority of the EU players would sacrafice 132 extra slots on various servers just to keep their Global names. -
Quote:Wait.. we should be happy for something that has been 'held back' for years while paying the exact same price, now suddenly becomes available? You maybe forgetting the point majority of EU players only had two servers to play on, as the french and german one also has a fully translated client and do speak any of those languages. Then you're not trying very hard. The most obvious thing is that European players will now have fifteen servers to play on instead of just four. This effectively means an extra 132 character slots to alt nuts on people.
We made more alts on the simple way, more accounts. So we've payed for 2 maybe 3 accounts for years, now we suddenly should be happy we get access to way more characterslots, while they dont offer any form of merge of charactercopy?
Quote:Also, it's my understanding--and I could be wrong--that the European servers are relatively less populated than the U.S. servers. Now, European players have a wider variety of population-magnitude servers to play on: relatively empty, where you can be left pretty much alone, or servers that are stuffed to the gills to the point where you can't even log on during peak events. -
Quote:We didnt choose to shut down NCsoft Brighton, we didnt choose to merge. As for ingame stuff, we have equal rights as you guys have. Where the game is developed or 'located' is totaly irrelavant to the fact if they should celebrate certain holidays or not.I am kinda eh on the one game one global server access thing. The only thing I am frustrated about is, are we gonna have to hear all the EU players around Independence DAY complain too why their countries holiday isn't celebrated in game. Yes I understand and know that this game is played all over the world, but the game takes place in America and the game is developed in California which is in America so yes we celebrate American holidays. If I hear one more Canadian complain about, how come we don't celebrate Boxing Day, I am gonna tell them to take their toon and fly to the top of the Atlas city hall building and look at what flag is flying there.
(patriotism.. weird stuff actualy, who you think actualy founded majority of US?)
Besides, Europe hardly has any 'continentwide' holidays. -
Quote:One way or another, they will loose at least 2 subs from my side once the 'acces to all' opens up, alike all other EU&US players that now can play with just 1 account. Why would i pay twice for a sub that can acces both? Each month i'm paying quadruple now, i could've transfer 1 character, leaving me eventualy with just 1 account to play on any server.Well, for one thing - if people (like you) could transfer characters you like from those two accounts you don't play much, then those people might cancel those accounts and NCSoft would lose that subscription income.
Would you pay for account transfers? Would you pay the equivalent of one month's subscription for each transfer? Because that's the only way I ever see it happening. If you're hoping for free transfers, I think you'd be as well off wishing for a flying pony.
So yes, i would serious pay a month-fee for a transfer, i would several without a doubt. -
Quote:It is, why else would i keep 4 accounts fully active for 3 months straight, when i can only play one at a time? At top i have 2 accounts active at any given moment, US and a EU one. I wouldnt mind a certain date, when your account has to be active (as that 'other game' does), but a full period of time for 'a wonderful 7yr reward' is plain bullocks.Yes, because the 150 quids worth of subs is solely for this, it's nothing to do with game access or anything like that.
Account character transfers, which i'd love too, could be tricky in terms of doing it in a way which doesn't encourage Real Money Character selling and the like.
Apart from the fact NCsoft still bugging up my paypal payments, making it nearly impossible to keep 4 accounts active at any given time.
And why would account transer be bad? It will only affect those who need it, specialy with the upcomming merge. Majority doesnt even have a 2nd account, let alone a 3rd or 4th. (and for 'abuse' its simple, only transfers within a Masteraccount can be done). -
So 3 months, 4 accounts, roughly 150 euro for just these packs? No thx.
Rather see account-merges, account-character-transfer or alike then stuff like this. -
That was my question also bunch of pages earlier, although merge may not be possible (copying however is, alike the old US->EU copy), i wont see this happen at all. This mostly probably only affect EU players (as they would have a US more likely then a US-player having EU one), and since we pull the short straw all the time.. no exception this time.

I just noticed you cant seem to launch the game anymore outside the NClauncher, all fun and stuff, but serious FIX the retarted fact that i need 18GB for the same stupid game. I always had 2 clients, test and live, wich could run US or EU client from the same folder.
Clearly NClauncher cant, it either goes repairing (2.6GB) or replaces the entire entry in the list, once u manualy select a different folder from the properties.
My entire testclient is completly corrupt yet again, just 5 minutes ago i was happy runnin around in an empty EU testserver, after launching NClauncer again it decided it need a repair and im back downloading 2.6GB again.
edit, just fire the retart maintaining this forum.. i click post:

edit, and poof.. im on my NA account again. -
Regarding this merge, what will happen to the forum login? As now my NA and US login (yeah, im on my US.. stupid system) will change, is the checkbox for US/EU still needed?
The forum keeps borking up now when i try to log in either one of these accounts, or i get wrong password (as they are different) or 'magicly' logging me in on the wrong account. -
Hmm, found my part of the flaw, you cant upgrade accounts that are inactive (no sub active), they are not visible nor upgradable.
Yet, it doesnt check if your selected account already has the booster/upgrade, it wont check untill you've done the payment. Now the account management only say 'Perk' for each of the packs (GvE, mac, booster), so its kinda guessing wich i have to pick.
This code will be automatically applied to your City of Heroes® (Europe) / City of Villains® (Europe) account <EU account that has the pack already>.
Then, finishing up:
This code was applied to the City of Heroes® (Europe) / City of Villains® (Europe) account <EU account that already has the pack>.
And there we go:
City of Heroes® Wedding Pack Feb 13, 2008
City of Heroes® Wedding Pack Jun 25, 2010
(note, i took wedding pack since that one is visible, all booster packs are shown as 'Perk' in the payment history list).
I just gave NCsoft a free 8.99.
So by plain guessing what 'Perk' might be, i aint gonna buy anything anymore. This clearly shows you can add the booster pack multiple times to the same account, without the system actualy checking if i already have it.
Where the disclaimer kills it all:
Please note: Game codes are non-returnable and non-refundable.
Last note, why does the system makes the choice of selecting Euro or Dollar, based on my account? So my US account is quite cheaper then my EU account, both in packs as monthly fee. -
Just admit, you developer guys really dont read the forum isit?
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=226185
Same **** again, have to click/login/copy-paste over and over just got get this boosterpack on my accounts. No link AGAIN given to the US version of the pack, if you logged in from a non-US IP addy. -
Quote:Be it 20, be it 100 or 150, they do NOT represent the 'MMO' in MMORPG. I care little if 'my perspective' is 'fail' in your view, the global line remains.. this is not really acording MMO 'standards'.That's the most ridiculous yardstick for measuring game activity I've ever heard of.
I agree with your points in general about the EU side but using "there are only 20 people active at peak time" based on who you actually see around is fail and detracts from any point you were trying to make.
Or easier said, can you name a MMO that has less players on a server?
Quote:Blueside at 10pm there were 146 players listed on Union and 91 listed on Defiant, of course this cannot be counted as a complete list as players may be hidden etc.
Hardly dead but this only makes 18 or 11 full teams in the very best case scenario, but in reality much less. -
Quote:From 11pm till around 1am GMT+1 time, and i'm not refering to the /who, but plain the people i talk to, see moving around or any other way being active.Uhm...uhuh. Not sure which servers you're playing on that have 20 people online. Unless your playing on, say, Zukunft at 2 in the morning.
I know it's not as good as it frankly could and in a way should be. But it's not quite that bad just yet.
Quote:A server merge is the bad PR, and sign that games are (usually) either dying or having to cut losses.
A server list merge, on the other hand, holds no such connotations...so long as the idiot review sites and magazines can get that right, at least.
A list only brings more problems, what will happen to the subs or characters? I'm already paying 1year+ on both sides, just to get all characters 'copied' (read, plvled) to the US side. -
Quote:More related to the total merge of US/EU entirely, merging a market should have been done ages ago.Hmm.
Was that relating to the EU or the Markets? Because you do realise they are merging the markets, if that was related to them, right?
I never understood the whole concept of seperated markets for CoV/CoH, 1 gap fills the other.
Merging the box/digital client market, that would be something interesting. Not having a ******* up website that hides any US client/booster if your IP is from Europe, accidently buying the wrong box and not getting a refund, where only 1 digit is different from the 2 clients.
So for me, it aint worth it anymore. Stuck with 60month and 51 months accounts, useless to be played in a deserted server (yes, 20 people active online in not my view of a MMO). You feel loyal, blinded by the crap-service NCsoft is offering the COH EU players. Why did Aion had such great EU support? Why did Guildwars had the same? Tabula Rasa? Lineage? Why all games had a worldwide distrubution of every goodie, while CoH never had anything like that.
The irony kicks in harder, when Tabula Rasa closed, all active EU players got a huge pack of goodies including 3 months of CoH gametime. And wich account you could only apply it to? Bingo, US account. -
-
Ironic they choose AMD as partner, if it was not the Ati cards that had nonstop issues to run the game properly
Anyway, date is set at 17th august, while i still dont know where to get a copy of GR. They got roughly 2 months to get a decent answer, or just a 'keep quiet and buy the digital version you stupid!' as final answer. -
To pick up Guild Wars, with the soon comming Guild Wars 2, if i was NCsoft i would serious put my money on Guild wars 2, rather then spending money advertising CoH in Europe.
Even Nightfall and Eye of the North in stores were a huge succes, dispite they have a huge digital store availability (ingame actualy). What does Guild Wars have, that CoH never had? I mean, i own all Collector Editions of Guild Wars, bought in the local stores. So they have ways to get the boxes around Europe (Prophecies i actualy bought in Belgium), and yet they never spend a single effort on doing so for CoH. (apart from a few boxes i've seen in my life).
Aion was nothing different, in stores they were huge available, again with pre-order and Collector Editions. Hell, even Tabula Rasa was quite present in gamestores.
Based on the languages of the client/server, seems they only focus on the most west/northen part of Europe (UK/France/German - with Netherlands/Belgium as wildcards), distribution within those 5 countries wouldnt be that hard to do? -
Quote:Acceptance of payment is not relevant to the system of seperated US and EU stores in such way they have done now. As guildwars, NCsoft product also, is a full region-free game by now, they have no limitation on US or EU (never had actualy). Be it legal or not, it aint costumer friendly, by far it aint (next to the fact they admited they wont do any store-advertising in europe, nor we get the special goodies or GR-pre-order boxes).Gut reaction is: Legal
First, there is the acceptance of payment. Legally speaking NCSoft has to report all financial transactions. The expectation is that EU only buys from EU, US only buys from US, and so on and so forth. Now, we "know" that a significant number of non-US players buy and play on the US servers. Basically this just winds up meaning more paperwork on NCSoft's end to report transactions to the proper legal authorities.
There is also the submission of content for ratings. NCSoft submits the content to both the ESRB (in the US), and PEGI (for the EU).
The EU version, as I understand it, also includes translated content in French and German. As far as I'm aware, this translated content is not available in the "US-release" :: While the digital art, polygon, and geometry builds would be different, the additional languages would require additional code, making for a different final binary client.
A native American who is on holiday in Europe faces the exact same problem, he cannot acces the US store, wich basicly is a flaw in NCsoft's system and not some weird excuse of 'payment acceptance'. Likewise a WoW player is free to go to the US store as well as the EU store, dispite the clients/products have EU and US versions (although they also have region-free products, like authenticators and TCG lootcards), they can freely buy products in US and EU, the only limitation is your account itself.
Same goes for the 'client side language', the US and EU share the exact same client (really, it does), apart from a few IP adresses to wich the client connects. The majority of language is actualy server-sided, unlike many MMO's where the client have 'language' packs and can change language based on client's preferences rather then the server you are playing on, people going to zudunkft or villigance will have a 'forced' language change, rather then a client-preferenced setting. That was 1 of the reasons EU always had server-issues, they needed special attention when a patch was rolled out of new content was added.
They now only fixed this by giving links to the US versions of the products (as some visible, yet others arent), implying it is a 'free to buy from both US and EU store' system but the 'IP-based visibility' is the fail-factor in this system. Understandable they prefer EU-visitors to go EU-servers (thus showing EU products), but limiting the available products is imho a big fail, either make 2 seperate shops (like WoW) or show them all (lotro).
Next to Guildwars, it was also Tabula Rasa that even got 1 client, but gave a 'merged' EU and US serverlist, showing the method is possible to work with 1 unified client, that have only have limitation on the account-settings, rather then limiting accesability of products or servers. But perhaps both games werd built this way or heavy modified to work this way, and now the flaws of design on previous years on CoH, caught up to them. -
Apart from the initial post on this topic, do rednames ever post in this section of the forum? Or ever reply to a post?

Quote:Logged in or not, i can only select the 'european' languages, like german, french and GB english.I think when you log in, it now uses your IP to decide which version to show. Other people in a similar situation have complained about it as well.
The good news is you should be able to use the toggle in the upper-right corner to choose the US version after you log in, and then browse the correct store with that. If that doesn't work, then Ifor you.
I'm very happy to see A.net is doing a great job on GW2, the way how they have their payment/account system is far superior to this crap we called US/EU NCsoft. Althought still few months to go, i have a new game to put my money in. I now have 7 unanswered tickets, 6 closed with no answer and only 3 properly answered (well, default reply but still).
But they only seem to care to advertise GR in US as much as possible, outside there.. they care little to none. -
Quote:That was my old methode, but recently they seem to have changed something, that once i log in (into my 'masteraccount', wich i gues is flagged european), either the products completly dissapear from my 'basket', or the page instantly redirect to the main store of europe again.https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/St...em&item_id=128
the US versions tend to have an item ID (last number) of 1 or 2 lower than the EU ones. It's usualy a case of having to work backwards untill you find it.
And the topic of the brazilian guy.. Sometimes i serious wonder if they even care for people outside the 'main USA'.
