    Superstrength

A recent display of testing the structural strength of concrete showed it could withstand a force of 12KN (27,000 lbs of pressure), so Hurl would have to overcome that.
  2. Probably a base starting point is that all humans think the same. Really. They do. The one thing that really changes, mostly, through the genders is their perception of things.

Male perceptions tend to focus along Strengths, Weaknesses, External Stimulus.
Female perceptions tend to focus along Aesthetics, Pecking Order and Internal Stimuli.

(Not to say one can't look at the other, but the base tends to be that.)

Add in the Social Pressures on them (Women need to be Waiflike, Bigbreasted and Giggly; Men need to be Tall, Dark and Handsome). Similar Heirarchy works in the Homosexual Community.

    In very broad strokes...

Men look to Attack their Enemies, Defend their Friends and Enjoy experiencing activities.
Women look to Disprove their Enemies, Improve their Friends and Enjoy experiences.

    In 'being hit on'

Men tend to go "YES!" or "ARGH!"
Women tend to go "At last!" or "As if!"

There are obvious exceptions to these rules, but it's a framework to think from.

I'm sure I'll get arguments on this, but that's my view, and people I've played with have enjoyed the characters.

No-one can grow the Badger beard like Hogan though...well apart from BRIAN BLESSED!

Depends how you do it. I'd say the real problem would be punching through it to get a grip first.
  6. Silver_Weasel

    Superstrength

Superstrength is a bit of a misnomer, because it doesn't increase your strength, rather allows you to do strength feats. (I.E. You could lift something using ambient light or some such.)

From the way the powers increase, it's safe to say that (if it's based on musclature) even a level 1 has strength equal to a professional body builder.

As they get Hurl at level 20 or so, I'd put that at about a tonne.

So, you're looking at about 500 kilos at level 1, with an increase of 25 kilos per level.

Please note this is in NO way canon
  7. You could quite easily qualify Dr. Manhatten (Watchmen) as both an Anti-hero and Evil; and he'd be swatting heroes left and right if he had to.

Even Heroes will rob banks if given the right impetus.
  8. On a side note, what epic do people suggest, all of them seem a little odd.. and I really don't want to take Laser Beam eyes.

    What would She-Hulk take?
  9. Dump 'em, I'm virtually invulnerable to +2's and can stand in a set of whites whilst I eat my Frosties with no harm. Get them later when they're actually useful
  10. Triage Beacon is also a sound investment for later levels; and for yourself.
  11. Similar build to mine. I took Kick on the way to Tough/Weave though; Taunt early. Kick just suits the character.

  13. Q: How does Pyrokinesis work in real life?

A: It has long been theorised that extreme emotion releases a substantial amount of chemical energy that in normal humans increases the acidity production within the stomach. Humans with Pyrokinesis transmit this residual energy through hyperspace using the field known as psychotronics., first theorised by the brilliant physicist, Nikolai Tesla.
Before the turn of the century, Nikola Tesla had discovered and was utilizing a new type of electric wave. Tesla repeatedly stated that his waves were non-Hertzian, and that his wireless transmissions did not fall off as the square of the distance. Authors have found that the wave which Tesla was using is a longitudinal scalar wave, capable of many times the speed of light. When coupled with another scalar wave (Tesla wave),
the resulting vector wave can be the source of electromagnetic energy for electrical power, a protective force field, or a destructive weapon.

The resultant wave would be only accessible by the recipient as was set by the mind of the Pyrokinetic and would provide enough energy to be directed into the atoms of the target, causing the electrons to oscillate to such a degree that the ambient temperature of the atom would be increased, with negligible loss of energy due to the wave passing through the 'vacuum' effect of non-Euclidian space/time (Later theorised as Hyperspace by Science Fiction writers).

More detail can be discovered here.

Telekintics and Cryo-kinetics are acheived in similar ways, but using the residiual energy as a direct kinetic impact or as a slowing influence on the electron rotation.

[My mistake : Psychotronics is a Czech term; psychoenergetics is the Soviet term for this and should be used in preference.)

Unless you are British, you get a +1 for the supressed urge to cross dress .

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Corrected for accuracy in English.

Besides, that's only in public school, and it's mostly a supressed urge to be spanked.

We may be getting a little off-topic.

    Not only public school
  15. Choose small though kids. The Amazing One-Armed-Man would have been a lot healthier if he hadn't been bitten by a Radioactive Crocodile.
  16. Ugh....well, takes all sorts and I apologise for thinking the...worst?....

Pondering the kinetics though...surely what you describe is Pyropheromonics? or Pyropharmaceutics?
  17. Z, you're also applying words a little 'loosely' as well.

Pyrophilia is achieving arousal due to flame...not sure if that's exactly what you want to say Pyromania is wanting to set things on fire...
  18. Usually you can find out from just the style of pre-mission chatter.

People who say 'Lo' and then dive in aren't gonna be big RP'ers. People who ask you where you get your hair done, or complain because the Circle of Thorns are ready to move to destroy them, usually are.

Don't feed it down their throats though, some of them actually don't seem to like RP, odd though that might seem.
  19. You'd be surprised how often you can get good RP in a pick up group as well. My mission in Pocket D yesterday was quite an enjoyable jaunt with a Dark Villain.
  20. Given that the CoH Universe isn't consistent and with Nemesis etc. in charge of the timelines, the entire idea of consistency is variable.

The best way to look at it is that consistency, like the timeline is only available OOC; IC the consistency is all observed, and thus your view makes as much sense as anyone else's unless it God-Mod's their character; or yours.

Given we all KNOW Crey is evil; why are they still allowed to exist legally?
If Nemesis has cloned himself that many times; how do we know we haven't already defeated him? And what stops a clone from becoming the Real Nemesis?
How come Tyrant can beat Statesman but Recluse can't?
If Teleportation is available, why isn't Replication?
With that many Fire-Tankers running around, why hasn't the Oxygen level failed?

Inconsistencies can often produce good RP rather than hinder it. If Statesman is the Incarnate of Zeus, that means most major religions have serious flaws to their arguments.....unless.....*fill in RP here*

  22. No point into turning this into the Weasel/Synaesthetic show but one point made me wonder.

    [ QUOTE ]
now you need to put a little more thought into it, which is far from number crunching, and much more along the lines of strategic gameplay. Is that really so bad?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sometimes I want to think, sometimes I don't. That's why I chose a blaster. ED removed some of the more strategic ways I can play and often resorts me to Kobi Yashi Naru.

    That is bad, whatever happens.
  23. Fair enough. Good points made, but I'd still see Nova as a complementary power now rather than a must have power; as it's effectiveness in most situations is limited at best.

Given that this is an AR discussion though; probably best to say we disagree on that point.

My problem is that a number of the 'changes' have been as a result of heavily swayed arguments and just because something has become 'canon', doesn't mean that those of us that don't like it should bow down to it's almighty rule.

If ED had promised what it's title suggested, it would have been a godsend. Enhancements that can change the personality of the character; what it seemed/seems to be is a heavy-handed force towards easier numbers to deal with.

Meh. For every Hooray, there has to be a Doooom; and maybe it's better to keep saying "It wasn't that good" rather than just "I'm leaving and taking my friends."

As for the 'swallowing a few blues' counter; should we really expect that every major change means we should respec/ store needed inspirations? That makes it far more a number-crunch than the original game ever was.
  24. Well, N=5xE with 17 seconds unavailable.
E+B+Bl can be cycled every 2 seconds.

Unless N can provide a greater one shot damage, then it's useless in comparison.

Tier 9 powers should be Heavy Hit, Long Recharge, Special Effects.
Now it's just Long Recharge, Better Effects, Less Damage.
